what size are the bolts or nuts which retain the entire unit to the top of tank ? you stated 8 of them.
hard to see from pics...appears they may be phillips head screws, yet I'd say that's not likely.

Hello I have a 1989 pickup truck and there's a white connection just as you have on yours and I don't know how to disconnect the white wire that's connected to the fuel tank. Could you tell me how I disconnect the white wire without breaking it? Do I use a flat head screw driver to put underneath the small lock? It's very tough and I don't know how to disassemble the electric wire that runs to the fuel tank. Let me know how you disconnected yours?
    Thanks

Just picked up a t100 and brought it to the gas station for the first time to find it has a pretty bad leak somewhere on the top half of the tank, glad to see it's not difficult to replace. (Exact same tank for anyone wondering)

How did you know for sure it was the fuel pump? What were your first steps that led you here?

Thank you so much - easy to do.... Unless you're a carpenter and haven't touched a thing on a car, ever. Lol

I have this same truck! My fuel pump needs replacement too. There aren't many videos on this procedure and none leave the pickup bed on like you did. Just one question, would you do this way again or remove the pickup bed next time?

Rock Paperstone if I had go do this again I would leave the bed on still. It's not that bad to Jimmy the tank in and out but I do recommend another person to help you with putting it back in, although its not necessary to do so!

Thanks man. Real good video. Mine has 240,000 miles on it and was running strong until this.

There's a clip that holds the sock on and you failed to show. Without it your sock will fall off and float around in your tank

Assuming that no one is going to buy a fuel sock second hand the kit will come with an instruction booklet where it does inform you on how to properly attach the sock and other components into the bracket and fuel pump. Thanks for the feedback! We are trying to grow with our channel and to put out better quality videos and in future videos we will try to show every step! We hope you continue to support us!

Torque specs are not important in pump replacement..

You made it look easy! Outside, in the slush no less. I need to do mine in a '90. How long did that take you? And how were you sure that it was the pump. Mine is efi

Honestly if you have the proper tools the job takes about 45 minuted depending how well the tank actually comes out of its spot for you (some patience and wiggling of the tank is required). I broke down on the road and found out i wasn't getting fuel to the engine so I hit the tank with a tire iron as a friend was trying to start the car and it came on. If it didn't turn on id drop the tank to see if the sock is full of debris or the actual pump dosent work

@@DallasHollidayTV thank you. Tried the tap technique nothing. Had very little gas in it. Maybe sucked debris up in sock. I'll let you know outcome. Thx again

What about the fuel gauge sender unit? They all fail, sooner or later. Why didn't you at least identify it; and why didn't you mention that it would be good idea to swap it out while the gas tank is out? Failed, failing or neither yet, especially if the truck has high milage and the original unit.

Good video but should have shown us every single step. Connecting the pump to the bracket is very important. This fails!

Will keep it in mind for the next one! Thank you for the feedback!
