Its probably how a single memory looks like in each stage. First the Caretaker remembers the melody and lyrics (stage 2), then they forget the lyrics but remembers how it goes (stage 3), then he forget how it goes (stage 4/5)
So didn't translate the lyrics in their entirety on the original INA video so here you are : Ce soir, mon coeur a tant de peine. (Tonight, my heart is aching) Ce soir, tout semble triste et noir. (I wait, cowered in night's cloak) J'attends, puisque c'est toi que j'aime. (I wait, because you're the one I love) Traînant mon éternel ennui. (Trailing my ever-lasting boredom) Un jour sans toi, c'est une éternité. (One day without you seems like an eternity) Dis-moi pourquoi, chéri(e), tu m'as quitté ? I can see that just by reading the lyrics, this doesn't really fit with EATEOT. The lyrics that stick in EATEOT is "man was i lucky". Even the pitch of that song says so. It's like he's making fun of his romance. This one, the man is clearly in pain. It's serious. He doesn't want to let go. He's bargaining. "I'm doing all I can. Come on. It's your turn. Please do your part. PLEASE GO BACK TO ME!" He puts up a mighty resistance, yet he too still succumbs.

I find the art of Ivan Seal really interesting. My interpretation of this painting is that it’s a person sitting at a chair, about to play an instrument (guitar? mandolin?) but they have no motivation to play it, so just end up sitting there.
A mandolin is mentioned in stage 4 too (“and now for a mandolin solo by Mr.” somethingorother, I forgot the name) so that would be a very interesting connection
This song HAUNTS me, I don't want to forget, I'm not scared to die but don't take my memories away! This is probably the most concise and powerful representation of the Caretaker's message Kirby ever did. This would have fit so well as a conclusion to stage 3, a moment of the best bliss in the album only to fall down to stage 4 at the end, the song talking about someone crying his past love is so appropriate when you replace the loved one by memories, identity.
This piece has an excellent sense of brooding melancholy about it. I can imagine it playing in a scene where the protagonist is seated in their study, viewing an album of happier days with their beloved that's no longer with them - whether they're alive or not is up to you. After a while, they decide to get themselves their favourite drink, and leave for a moment, but when they return, they pick up an old record, dust it off, and have it play while they continue to leaf through the album and drown their sorrows away. Outside, patchy rain hits the window, yet every now and then, the Moon emerges from behind the clouds, casting a silver light through the ajar curtains that competes with the warm yellow of the protagonist's oil lamp.
It makes me imagine a Soviet soldier during the invasion of Russia and he’s called to do his part in the war. As he leaves his home village saying his goodbyes to his loved ones night starts to fall upon him and the rest of the men called to the battlefront, he gets in the back of the truck driving him far away from the life he had to leave behind looking back with a sadness in his heart and a tear in his eye. He tries to ease the sad feeling by looking at the night sky that they drive under, he says to the other men in the back of the truck " Tonight, all seems blue and dark" no one says a word as they continue down the dark road lit only by the lights of the couple trucks driving on them. As they drive out of cover that was provided by a few trees ever once and awhile they come into a area of fields, not being able to see anything other than the night sky and the silhouettes of a few trees the ignore the feeling of unease that had fallen upon the men. As the continue their way down the dark road they here a loud boom that comes from the tree line in the distant background of the field, the lead truck abruptly explodes into a fiery death, the men suddenly realize that they are under attack and urge the driver to backup into cover the driver does not acknowledge them and speeds past the burning skeleton of the lead truck and the couple bodies that lay in the road. Driving as fast as the truck could go the driver tries to get to cover ahead, another loud boom fills the air and a faint whistle can be hear the men in the back of the truck realize that this is the end and they would never see their families again, the truck is struck with extreme force and is lit up in blazes throwing the men out of the back, the man that had left his family that night lays on the dirt road as the night sky and glow from the burning truck fade out of view and darkness fills his view the last thing he can here before dying is the song playing in the distance as it starts to get louder and more disturbed by the crackling and static like sound distorting it greatly, the man slowly drifts into the darkness never to see or hear anything again.
I read up on the singer Tino Rossi and learned this song was recorded when he lived in Nazi-occupied France. That context certainly adds more darkness to this song. Rossi was arrested and eventually released for being associated with a French resister.

This evening I need you to come back I'm waiting in the shadows of the night I'm waiting since it's you that I love Whilst carrying my endless worry. Mabe, it fits quite well with the feeling of lucidity, of realising whats happening to you in a period of madness, knowing this would be your last coherent thought and memory
“My heart seems *blue* yet what else can I do? When I see it rain, I cry tears of Pain, will I be drowned in Shame? For tonight, will not bring me fame, it feels so dark but I feel like I am on an Ark, the ark twists and turns, making my heart burn. What else can I see? I do have a happy life and a happy family! So do not take life for granted, even if you feel lamented, for an empty bliss lies ahead, waiting for *YOU* instead.”
The Caretaker's music, Ivan Seal's art, and lots of other abstract-style recordings and pictures, can work like a Rorschach Test ink blot. Everyone perceives something different in it.
unlike other caretaker songs where you feel its dementia. this one.. gave me the feeling of depression, *didnt help with the lyrics being sad. like it feels like the person is forgetting the song not because of dementia but depression and they forcing themselves to forget this thought.
The desire to create beautiful music, the desire must have come from somewhere, yet is swallowed up by an all consuming depression, nothing feels like it's worth it anymore, deep down a part of you still wants to do what you love, but the static of emotion paralyzes you.
5:08 Right Channel I heard "In the Mission by the Sea" by Maurice Winnick, a song that is also heard on J1 - Post Awareness Confusions EDIT: Not sure anymore, perhaps the melody is correct, perhaps not..
30 years, 30 years after the blast, you’ve learned things that you never thought you’d do, engineering, survival, piano, music. Today you think “this is it, it’s time I past.” You go outside, into a music concert, looking at all the radiated stuff, take a “bite” at your favorite restaurant, as you get radiated more and more. You eventually come back to the place, attempting to play Lacrimosa. “Hm, never thought I’d learn to play this song.” You die of radiation poisoning.
i’m not sure if this is actually a cut song, but i like it nonetheless. Though it does follow his typical music selection process, song whose lyrics contain themes that are generally depressing, he also includes a lot of music from non-english speaking countries. I don’t know where this would belong in any album though, maybe we’ll all go riding on a rainbow. This song conveys a very familiar emotion to me, walking home alone on a cloudy winter day, looking around and wishing everything would be green and bright again. Wishing I had someone to accompany me so i wouldn’t feel so cold.

It’s kinda like walking through a modern art gallery

QUE 👏 BONITA 👏 CANCIÓN 👏
There is nothing like listening to this at midnight in the darkness of your room while eating chips alone, and it's freezing cold
Driving as fast as the truck could go the driver tries to get to cover ahead, another loud boom fills the air and a faint whistle can be hear the men in the back of the truck realize that this is the end and they would never see their families again, the truck is struck with extreme force and is lit up in blazes throwing the men out of the back, the man that had left his family that night lays on the dirt road as the night sky and glow from the burning truck fade out of view and darkness fills his view the last thing he can here before dying is the song playing in the distance as it starts to get louder and more disturbed by the crackling and static like sound distorting it greatly, the man slowly drifts into the darkness never to see or hear anything again.

commie america the best country
This one of if not the only caretaker track I listen to normally.
I read up on the singer Tino Rossi and learned this song was recorded when he lived in Nazi-occupied France. That context certainly adds more darkness to this song. Rossi was arrested and eventually released for being associated with a French resister.
Makes me wonder, what all went down during 1940’s France?
@@moornolan Nazi Germany conquered and ruled the country until 1944.
Lyrics in English: This evening I've so much heartache
This evening everything seems sad and bleak
I'm afraid despite our love itself
I'm afraid I won't see you again.
This evening I need you to come back
I'm waiting in the shadows of the night
I'm waiting since it's you that I love
Whilst carrying my endless worry.
A day without you is a lifetime
Tell me why, darling, you left me.
This evening I've so much heartache
This evening everything seems sad and bleak
I'm afraid despite our love itself
I'm afraid I won't see you again.
Why is this long journey necessary
Disrupting the path of happy days
Why should your image
Be forever far from my sight?
A day without you is a lifetime
Tell me why, darling, you left me.
This evening I've so much heartache
This evening everything seems sad and bleak
And yet despite ... even so
Tonight I still have hope.
To see again.
I wish i could listen to second part, it's so soothing
This seems like it could be a lucid moment in the post-awareness stages.

Thank you very much for doing this work for us and uploading it. I appreciate the commitment to preserving hidden musical gems in your description. This is lovely, poltergeist-ridden music.
The fact that this has 1 dislike depresses me more than the song
What a beautiful piece of art!
For me its seems like a man with a guitar and his face is a Door that has been opened. And is sitting on a chair
I love this track so much. It feels like a Misplaced in Time. It's so melancholy, so sad, like the emotions are circling around in a globe and you stand in the middle of the void.
This is romance🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (from L1 (and technically Q1(and R1)))
listening this in the morning, everything is blue outside and cold in the moment i'm writting this comment, i just wanna feel warm again, i actually like the ambience
feels like with more droning it could be in silent hill 2, the descent into the otherworld
reading the translated lyrics, it fits
Tino Rossi ? Dans un morceau du Caretaker ? La vache, je pensait pas le trouver ici !
mdrr
if giltsholder decided to make music
For anyone in the comments wondering, the Ivan Seal painting is called "dumtrimiestonmo blurosperiod." I can't figure out when it was painted, but online, I found some exhibits in Europe where the painting was shown.

English Lyrics:
How's wall
Forget about the banner
Says what
So some blue grief and woe
Zipper
I bring all ham on manor
Zipper
They don't think of a wall
Says what
We employ to the piano
Shut up
The long of bird obese
Jog on
Christmas and water banner
Melon
My nuclear memory
I was on Guam
Say jigging every day
See what won't work
She'll need you money day
How's wall
Forget about the banner
Says what
So some blue grief and woe
Zipper
I bring all ham on manor
Zipper
You've been looking through a claw
sounds accurate
this is gold
1:22 My favorite part starts here.
anyone get he feeling this was supposed to originally be the temporary bliss state for stage 4m
No
Mabe, it fits quite well with the feeling of lucidity, of realising whats happening to you in a period of madness, knowing this would be your last coherent thought and memory
This is not bliss. This is pure depression.
00:00 - 4:44 Это было великолепно. Готов слушать это вечно
“The deed is done, *THEY* will hate my poem I had thought up with such tender, tender care.”
The Caretaker's music, Ivan Seal's art, and lots of other abstract-style recordings and pictures, can work like a Rorschach Test ink blot. Everyone perceives something different in it.
There is no better cover for this song i think
unlike other caretaker songs where you feel its dementia. this one.. gave me the feeling of depression, *didnt help with the lyrics being sad. like it feels like the person is forgetting the song not because of dementia but depression and they forcing themselves to forget this thought.
Me hubiera encantado que esta canción esté en el stage 2 o 1 ;-;❤❤
Es melancólica y encajaría perfecto en EATEOT

this is what depression sounds like. especially when you broke up with someone you loved
i lost my dog tessa. she died of cancer and always fell asleep to french music.....i miss her so much
this isn't music, this is a process
I wish desperately he would do a performance in America.
I see a very sad orangutang with a lute. And yet it has the same eerie energy as those paintings of the wrecks of famous ships.
Se soir, tout semble triste et noir.
Se soir, il faut que tu reviens.
Raison de mon éternelle ennuis.
C'est une belle chanson 😘🔥
The Artwork is very good
The art looks like something playing some kind of banjo
The desire to create beautiful music, the desire must have come from somewhere, yet is swallowed up by an all consuming depression, nothing feels like it's worth it anymore, deep down a part of you still wants to do what you love, but the static of emotion paralyzes you.
beautiful
There's something frighteningly and somehow irreprehensiblly familiar about this song ............................
4:43 Post Awareness Confusions
imagine if there's multiple songs in this part

When the pug learns the mandolin.
Me being a native Greek and knowing this song isn’t Greek:
Ok this is sick
My Greek brain:
Bouta ruin this whole mans career
30 years, 30 years after the blast, you’ve learned things that you never thought you’d do, engineering, survival, piano, music.
Today you think “this is it, it’s time I past.” You go outside, into a music concert, looking at all the radiated stuff, take a “bite” at your favorite restaurant, as you get radiated more and more. You eventually come back to the place, attempting to play Lacrimosa.
“Hm, never thought I’d learn to play this song.”
You die of radiation poisoning.
… ce sentiment que je ressens, n’est pas descriptible
The song progression reminds me of Losss by Björk. The Caretaker portrays despair so perfectly with distorted sounds. It's exactly how emotions feel.😢
The only track of this guy where we will hear singed words
Sounds like somebody jaded and almost perpetually stuck in an uncanny fatigue. To tired to lament or moan in anguish; a despair bigger than them.
I feel like the first part of this would really fit a clarity moment either stage 4 or 5
The depression theme song.
Nothing haunts more than the Hell sirens on this track..
i’m not sure if this is actually a cut song, but i like it nonetheless.
@sunrise Ok then link me that interview you’re talking about
@sunrise It’s been so long since i watched that interview i must’ve just forgotten about it
@sunrise Holy fuck you’re right lmfao
wtf? this song just slips into stage 5 like confusions. i wonder if this was supposed to be a bliss state at first.
Depression in its purest form.
Dis-moi pourquoi, chérie, tu m'as quitté.
Ce soir mon coeur a tant de peine
Ce soir tout semble triste et noir
J'ai peur malgré notre amour même
J'ai peur de ne plus te revoir.
