I was 9 year old son of a Mexican immigrant and a victim to racist bullies everyday when he won. I remember crying my eyes at the tv screen. He gave me hope. He told me everything they said to me was a lie. He told me I could rise above them all.
I know when I cast my vote in November, a 9 year old Mexican kid will be crying at the TV screen knowing his parents will be safe. I know a white family with a trans kid will be crying at the tv screen knowing they will be safe. I know a black girl that gets underestimated and picked on is going to cry at the tv screen, because she’ll know she can rise above all her doubters and achieve anything she wants. I know every kid will feel that.
That’s what this about. Our future. We’re not going back.

I think she finally released a bit of what she has been holding in for so long. We all knew she detests him, but tonight she gently ate him up with class. She’s always been a great speaker and really connects with people. If you have time, go find the video of her final act as First Lady when she presided over a Teacher’s Association ceremony. The tears of those women always brings me to teats as well. It really brought home for me that there are millions of Americans that love this woman.

I have no skin in the game as a non-US citizen and an observer of American politics, who is solidly moderate. But, I can see why Obama won two terms and even states like Iowa. He advocates for respecting your opponents and being receptive to voters with conservative views. I can see small town conservative folks voting for him or at least not voting against him, because he talks about them with genuine respect and a statesman like demeanor. Say what you want about the man and his politics, but he was and is a striking statesman who acts as a glue in these divided times.

I can feel both of them truly care about their citizens. Kamala could learn a thing or two from Michelle about how to control a crowd and speak with a bigger voice. It's been brilliant how Harris has softened herself so she's more relatable and that was very important but damn, the authority with which Michelle Obama speaks? How she's gracious to the crowd but also manages them? How she's full of hope but determined to get down to business? That's what Harris needs a little more of. Just a little. She can't come across as too pushy. But walking that line just perfectly is why this job is an art and not just a business, and it's what makes people's eyes shine hearing it.
The problem is Harris is just a bad candidate.
