The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary's mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
To raise awareness, Kevin has now set up his TH-cam Channel 'LionWhispererTV'. The channel is all about raising awareness about not only the declining numbers of lions, but also how this rapid decrease is happening. By watching these videos, you are directly contributing to our scheme of land acquisition.
Kevin captures the majority of his footage on GoPro cameras, allowing the viewer to get as close as possible to the lions.
By doing this, Kevin hopes to give people an insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and to let them see just what they can do to help. You can nearly touch them.

He probably the only person in the history of this planet to have his hand on a lion and a hyena at the same time and live to tell about it what you do is amazing!

i can guarantee you there are or has been more in the past. TH-cam and internet was and still is not so typical in the south, only recently did "5%" of ppl really start getting tech-savvy. A lot of tales in africa will most probbly not be "retold" and recorded, cause of the modernization etc.
The world must realize, although the modernization is creeping up, a lot of southern africa is still wild and empty. Not only in the south, bt east too (kenya etc) and ppl lived alongside animals for hundreds of years without seeking the need to "farm" and control these animals by way of game parks and private animal reserves. Its only in the past 50 to 100 years that commercialization has been so bad, ppl wanting to own rhinos and other animals, and modernization creeping in, did the most of these endangered animals start struggling so much. As a south african who has been concerned about trophy hunting and dwindling animal population, I am familiar with a lot of the politics around caring for these last remaining beasts, and lets just say youtube is painting a very pretty picture, yet its still only 2 pieces of a very large puzzle

I love the moment when Nicolas was greeted by one of the lions. I know they need to be separated now, but it's a testament to Kevin's ability to create bonds and peace, even among disparate species! Lions and hyenas are mortal enemies. To see them walking together and even greeting one another is astounding! Although they're saying goodbye, George, Yame and Nicolas are better for having known each other! They all look incredibly healthy, happy, and perfect in every way! Thank you, Kevin and Lion Whisperer Team, for sharing these beautiful creatures with us!
Hi La Chimutry, Nicolas is joining another beautiful, dear Hyena, Rafiki, at another amazing place called the SanWild Sanctuary that is, I believe, about 5,000 hectares large. As I have heard updates from SanWild, Rafiki and Nicolas are already becoming accustomed to each other and may one day even form their own Clan.

+Joz Mag Yeah, sometimes when your out there in the wild and there's no grocery stores in sight and you must eat to survive. This process can be very brutal at times. Most kills don't take forever but occasionally when a big boy's involved and Hyenas lack the ability to cover the mouth for a quick knock out like Lions do it can get ugly. Such is life in the wild kingdom.
To Kevin and all people who work with him, I wish you health, success and all the support you need to continue your work.

not really. these are not true hyena behaviour! Hyenas would never share greetings with lions or be anywhere near them without bloody violence.
your original feelings is based on true hyena behaviour. these are kept animals, they rely on being fed, kept safe from predators by kevin

They are incredibly intelligent, fierce predators (not scavengers) as he has mentioned so many times and they have the most complex social behaviour of all carnivores. Just because they are showing affection towards lions in this video doesn't mean he's portraying them as friends - everyone already knows lions and hyenas hate each other. This negative perception is largely undeserved and people have it for simple reasons such as they think they can't hunt for themselves and sound obnoxious at the dinner table, so to speak. What Kevin aims to teach us is that they are not simply cackling cowards and thieves and I think he's done that.

I just met Nicolas the hyena, wow, what a lovely boy! He shares the same name and spelling as my older son. I know I'm 6 years late but, I wonder how Nicolas the hyena adjusted to where his new adventure took him?? @John & Jane Smith actually all of my cats love their stomachs rubbed. Every time I walk up to them they flop on their side and roll on their backs. We never trained them, they were all rescued from the streets. So, no, it doesn't involve training them. It's trust, because their stomachs are the most vital area of the body. Having them allow you to rub it while they purr has nothing to do with training.

What does that mean?
I remember when I was kid and went to the Dallas Zoo (many years ago) and the hyena was locked in a small cage barely big enough to move around. He was so stressed he paced back and forth hour after hour. it impacted me my whole life to see a wild animal treated in such a way. I'm glad Kevin is helping change the world's understanding of long misunderstood creatures God gave us for a specific reason for our environment.
@SophieSophs well, go to any zoo in any part of the world today and check the area they live in. It's not even remotely comparable to the size of the open environment animals normally live in. So some of them go crazy. But zoos also sometimes preserve species from going extinct.

I just watched this very memorable Nicholes’s last enrichment walk with George & Yame again ❤️ It’s been for a while but I wonder how Nicholes is doing now... For Kevin, all three were like his sons(?) raised them from the very early age, milking them and loved them. It’s just amazing to see lions and hyena living in the same enclosure playing together and simply being friends... that’s probably only possible under Kevin’s love and care. Now the world has become totally different from what we used to know. I hope Nicholes is well and healthy and most of all happy in his new environment!! It would be wonderful if we could see how he’s been doing since he left Kevin’s sanctuary 🥰 As always, wishing you all at Kevin’s sanctuary safe and healthy. After watching this, what strikes me as utterly amazing and mind blowing is the ending where Nicholas is face to face with George and Yami and these two mortal enemies in the wild have somehow come together and give one another respect (if not genuine love) and it's all because of one thing......................KEVIN RICHARDSON. This is a man who truly has embraced his calling in life.
