I do the same I alternate my reading cycles. Horror, spy novels, etc. For me the ones that read like novels were from Ben McIntyre. I had started with one was so impressed had to read them all.❤❤❤. Thanks for the suggestions will check them out.
Thank you! And thanks so much for calling out Ben Macintyre. The Spy and the Traitor sounds right up my alley! I'm definitely going to have to check it out.
Respectfully disagree on that, though I guess the video makes that clear. I find Ambrose to be a gifted writer and storyteller. Do you have a favorite nonfiction writer that can trek a good story?
There are so many of his books I've been dying to read, and that's one of them! I've had The Wild Blue and (I think) The Victors for a while now and I haven't even read them yet.
Wow, funny story here: I think I own that book, but it's lost in these boxes I have in storage in my basement (the result of a number of moves over the past 20 years). I never read it, though I once meant to. Now I have to either dig it out or buy another copy!
Hey from the audio side of D3Reads, Paul Michael narrates River of Doubt. He does an amazing job of putting Candace Millard's words in the air that keeps you listening. One of the books I would stop in the driveway and turn off the engine and just listen a little longer. Teddy was larger than life, and even at his most frail moments and near death he was just an icon of strength and resolution.
That hasn't even been on my radar. I just looked it up and it sounds fascinating. I really appreciate the recommendation! My must read list is getting super long now

@@D3Reads You are very welcome 🤗💖
Stephen Ambrose was a pedestrian writer at best but he was a good historian. Highly informative. Just don’t expect him to dazzle you.

Endurance by Alfred Lansing
YES. I have not read this yet but it's been highly recommended. It is one of the top books on my must read list!
I can't believe I've never read Stephen Ambrose. I'm going to check him out! Thanks.
You won't regret it!
Undaunted Courage!!!! -Stephen E. Ambrose

@@D3Reads YES! I love history! Those are ones I have to read as well. Happy reading!
I’d recommend On Wings of Eagles by Ken Follett, but I bet you’ve already read it

Dude. I was reading the comments. This was supposed to be it's own comment, not a reply. Duh.
I'd throw In Cold Blood into the stack.

I couldn't put it down. Definitely would be on my list
Great list my only problem with military books is that they are basically propaganda pieces such as operation redwings
