Japan is actually the 2nd biggest music market in the world after the US. A lot of kpop groups debut in Japan since the beginning of Hallyu wave. Japan also has its own Billboard chart along with other music charts like Oricon, where at this point BTS also top the charts at Japanese market.
Also another reason for the Japanese versions is that the relationship between the two countries is not very good politically, so Korean music is difficult to enter (due to censorship problems). Therefore, if they want to enter the Japanese market, they have to launch versions in Japanese.
Another clarification (sorry if this is annoying for the rest of us for whom this is common knowledge lol) yes Suga is older than Namjoon (RM) . But namjoon is the leader so it's common that he's always mentioned first. By age, they go Jin, Suga, Jhope, RM, Jimin, V, JK. Formally RM will be listed first bc of his leader position, but yes, Jin is the oldest!
BTS = Bang Tan Sonyeondan. when i watch this i feel it's like fate, i don't even believe in Fate but it's like they were meant to meet and be 7 of them. it couldn't have been anyone else. When a member is missing, it feels empty, it feels something is missing (not when they do solo/duo projects but when they are all 6 and 1 is missing). it's crazy how far they went
"He's the maknae of the hyung line" I remember when I started listening to BTS, everything seems super complicated to me, I even looked for them as "TBS" ... and now I read this and I laugh remembering those moments of confusion.
@@elinabe8321 oh me too. I literally thought vlive was a platform for v to speak live and that each member had their own ones🤭 It didn't help that the 1 st vlive I saw was one with v himself solo. After that, I almost searched for RMlive coz he was the one I liked most during that time.
Most Non Army producers of videos about BTS fail to mention that the company Bighit was small, it WAS NOT big as you remarked, without clout, financially weak and basically outsiders in the Kpop industry which made BTS the underdogs. Their struggle in these conditions is what makes their story interesting. They took years, at least 2, to get recognised and reach some success.
@@LoveTheBasics what made their success even more of a shock was this, as mentioned, that they come from such a small company. The biggest awards like song of the year, or album/artist of the year had hardly ever, or never been won by a musician/group that didn't come from the biggest companies in the kpop industry (what is commonly refered to as Big 3: YG entertainment, JYP entertainment, and SM entertainment). Bts came to break that cycle of so called "privileged" artists who debuted under already humongous companies, which promoted them to death and linked them to already other established artists, taking home the biggest awards in shows year after year. This is what makes them the most admirable, they changed the game, they showed small companies and idols that they can also be part of the race and that privilege doesn't always mean the most accolades or following. This is what makes them an interesting case and what caught the attention of both fans and media everywhere!!
@@LoveTheBasics to know about these struggles and complete their story, please watch video by XCeleste; *BTS Hardships 2013 - 2021* This is the updated version, not to be confused with similar titles without the years. its not that they go by "last names". their family name is first, then their given name. I would be Oliver Caitlin instead of Caitlin Oliver. Its this way in various asian cultures.
i think it only applies to Korea, Japan and China.. I'm not sure.. 😅✌️ I'm from the Philippines, we write our first name first, and then the middle initial which comes from the last name of our mother, and then the last name... example, Zia R. Dantes EDIT: But when it comes to documents/records, we write our last name first, followed by comma [ , ] and then our first name, followed by the middle initial or middle name.. example 1: Dantes, Zia R. example 2: Dantes, Zia Rivera when I was a student, I like to write my name like the example #2 cause it's fun lol (that's not my name btw 😅)
Funfact:- I'm from India and I have three names within my name (Maybe it's cause I'm Christian, but most of my Christian Indian friends follow this format in their names) , My first name, my god-mother's name/baptism name (my god mother is my mom's mom as I'm their second daughter), then my father's name :]
In fact it is not only for some Asian countries. I am from Argentina and here it is very common that when you talk about a person who is not close, you put the last name first, it is the formal way of speaking. The same happens in several other Latin countries for example.
Ok, now that he is a self proclaimed ARMY, someone needs to suggest to him one of those documentaries that will make him cry about all of the struggles that BTS had to go through to get to where they are now. This video was good, but he was right when he said it really only showed the good stuff. They fought and clawed their way to the top and deserve every bit of success they got. This kinda made it seem like it was all luck or that the dominoes just kinda fell into place for them. The fight they fought I believe is also a huge part of their success because ARMY fought with them too. They proved that you truly never walk alone.
Yeah, they went through a lot to get where they are now. th-cam.com/video/EdY6wnLsetQ/w-d-xo.html this might give a slight idea. They stay humble and we love that about them
@@LoveTheBasics The most popular Korean last names are monosyllabic - like Kim, Lee, and Park - which together make up the names of about half the Korean ethnic population. Greetings from Tricity in Poland (Europe).
@@tkim2320 are you sure? Traditional Korean family names typically consist of only one syllable. There is no middle name in the English language sense. Many Koreans have their given names made of a generational name syllable and an individually distinct syllable, though this practice is declining in the younger generations. The generational name syllable is shared by siblings in North Korea, and by all members of the same generation of an extended family in South Korea. Married men and women keep their full personal names, and children inherit the father's family name unless otherwise settled when registering the marriage. The family names are subdivided into bon-gwan (clans), i.e. extended families which originate in the lineage system used in previous historical periods. Each clan is identified by a specific place, and traces its origin to a common patrilineal ancestor.
BE was a pandemic album that the members produced and built entirely themselves. The Life Goes On video was directed by Jungkook! Strongly recommend it! Oh, and they built their own set to match the Grammy set since they couldn't fly to the ceremony during the pandemic
Heyy, just to clarify their last names are the first word of the generally three-syllable whole name. Kim is the last name of Namjoon, Seokjin and Taehyung, Park is Jimins last name, Jeon is JKs, Min is Suga's last name and Jung is J-hope's
@@LeilaleilaZ he is just confused of the arrangement of the first and last names, because he didn't know it. So there is no need for clarifications, because clarification is being used when someone stated false statements. You can just explained it to him. Because clarifying someone who doesn't know what he is being clarified for is something a bit, you know, absurd. Just explaining, no hate. Borahae!💜💜
@@pgdnnliza6681 Well, Sargeant Semantics, let's say your explanation of the meaning of the verb "to clarify" was correct - which it isn't, to clarify means literally to make something more comprehensible when it isn't clear, which in this case for Alex was the order of last/family names coming first in SK - saying that they go by last names isn't a true statement whatsoever. So your explanation of my wrongful use of the word clarify is not only incorrect but unnecessary; considering this is your first and only comment in Alex's channel and you used it to correct someone on the silliest thing, I wouldn't call it hate per se, but at the very least is a bit negative Nancy to me. Nothing about whether you liked his reaction or not, nothing about his channel in general, his knowledge on film making? Maybe I'd understand if my comment was condescending - much like yours - or hateful, only I was explaining to him something he didn't seem to know. But hey, sure, me saying I was clarifying something for him is ABSURD.
He does film gcfs but in the clip u paused in he was actually filming the life goes on music video since he was the director, if you look at the credits under the video you’ll be able to see his name!! hope that helped
Actually they signed J-Hope as a singer and V as a rapper. But V really wanted to sing...so J-Hope was nice and traded places with V. Actually all rappers can sing, but aren't featured to do that. More trivia. 6 were announced as BTS. Big Hit literally hid V. Mr. Bang was afraid another company would try to lure V away from Big Hit. In their early interviews V is not seen on screen, but was sitting there off screen during every interview. This is specifically shown at 13:34 on this video. Even though Jimin was the last picked. V was the last one announced...just right before they debuted. Again, he was there the whole time training. They just kept him out of the photos. So the photos you see in the beginning with V in the picture are after he was announced and came out of "hiding".
@@ideagirl Yeah, that thing between JH and V actually never happened 😬 It was a misconception by some fans, but in truth when V joined the group JHope was already a rapper. 💜
20:05 yes the Japanese market is HUGE and very hard to break into if you're foreign from what I've learned. That's why you'll see almost every kpop group doing Japanese versions of songs to see if they can gain some recognition there. To the point where trainees/idols are taught Japanese so they'll be fluent which will make them even more marketable. If you check, some of BTS' biggest concerts are held in Japan. When you do well as an artist in the Japanese music market you know you've made it!
1)JYP is known for losing gems he lost jhope and several big artist he rejected some of the best idols like IU too and regret later on that's why jhope auditioned for bighit. 2)There's a joke in our fandom that RM was jungkook's crush and first love(just a joke) 3)Members once revealed that JIMIN got rejected almost 10 times but he didn't give up. 4)BangTan Sonyeondan(korean name of the group) so that's how it's short form is BTS(notice the capital letter) 5)I think bighit/HYBE give BTS their own variety show because someone rarely invite them and when they invite them the host everytime humilated them badly I legit didn't watch those episodes because I always got teary eyes and now they are praising them if BTS is mentioned in their show for a sec they put BTS in the title for the views from ARMYs. 6) BTS when reacted to their first stage in 2018 they were cringing now I want them to react to boy in luv warren g version I bet they all will be dying on the floor. 7) K-pop is a commercial product. Japanese and Chinese audiences generally prefer to listen to music in their own language, and because Japan is literally the largest market for K-pop musical products (they buy more legal files and CDs than Korea), K-pop is economically incentivized to access that market ( Find it from google) 8) The fact artist like Saudi Arabia repeatedly requested South Korean pop superstars BTS perform in the country, culminating in a rare concert at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh in October, they were first non-arab artist to perform there. 10) 38:48 That's their american got talent dynamite performance. 11) After savage love remix Jason got a lot of shade because when he got no. 1 spot he thanked everyone except BTS which ARMYs pointed out that it only topped no.1 because BTS was aaded in the name otherwise original version was on no. 8 spot if it just only and only his hardwork later on he edited the tweet but of course ARMY blacklisted him and put him in the list of clout chaser I hope he have respected boys like steve ,halsey, becky g,lauv, max ARMYs were so touched with halsey's friendship and respect towards boys that ARMYs actually setup charity event in the name of halsey to thank her and always support each and every artist that respect BTS. 12) 40:21 Suga is actually not there it's his hologram he didn't attended because he was going through his shoulder surgery. 13) Fact grammy never announced about how many viewers were left after it was announced that BTS didn't win BTS then did live to cheer armys and have 10 million viewer with no english subs that time and they said that they got ready at 4o clock and still didn't appear even once not even once on the tv screen during live they were sleepy but still did live because of armys and scammys was trending(grammy name) because clearly dynamite have more records, more views about 4 times the rain on me,more sell than the winner song. 14) I actually got obssesed with BTS ba da ba ba ba I don't know why maybe I am weird 15) Dynamite dance moves was a tribute to Michael jackson but haters said that BTS are copying but later on Michael jackson's family tweeted and praised BTS and even said MJ would have liked it. 16)51:38 That scene is from life goes on and jungkook is the director of the mv.The album is packaged in a book-like box that also contains a making-of book, a lyric book, photo cards(Suga’s art), RM's handwriting on the cover.RM is credited with “Album Design” Jimin was responsible for overseeing all the members’ creative activities during ‘s development and sharing those ideas with Big Hit Entertainment’s executives and staff.V is “Visual Creative”, the mind behind all visual aspects for , such as its concept photos. NOTE: English is not my first language so forgive my mistakes. I tried my best to explain everything hope it helped you.
Now he lost got7 too 🙅♀️ I'm sure he'll regret it. So many artists have either been rejected by the company or mistreated to the point of exhaustion so they leave, pretty questionable stuff if u ask me lol
@@LoveTheBasics i am from argentina and i was found out about kpop (group TVXQ ) in 2008 because i was watching a japanese show. I didn't know south Korea had such a big entertainment industry, i only knew the japanese one (anime, jrock etc etc) i Guess it is kind of a door to reach other cultures too.
@@Nikol-lu4so If Im not mistaken, yes he did. He was cutted after few sections. That's why he started to audition in a smaller company (Big Hit). Well, good for him. Life has it's own way
I personally love their performance of “Home” on Jimmy Fallon, and “Life goes On” on James Corden. Really creative set design, camera work and editing. In case you want to check it out. :)
the part where you see jk with the camera: it's not for golden closet film, he's actually filming their 'life goes on' mv, the mv was directed by jk! and the BE album was completely in charge of bts, not only they did the music, every member was in charge of working on a specific part of the album like the mv, the clothing, the design of the album, the concept pictures, etc. it was all in charge of the members themselves.
51:43 If i'm not wrong, Jungkook is filming some scenes for Life Goes On, because in case you didn't know, he actually directed that MV!! Also yeah, this video does not focus on their hardships, which where actually a lot (starting from the company which at the beginning didn't have that much economic resources to support and promote them properly, being near bankruptcy even. BTS basically helped Big Hit, now HYBE, become the empire that is today). But anyways, I'm so happy you got to know more about their journey now, thanks for your reaction!
@@LoveTheBasics especially since you can’t make much if anything off your videos on here from Adsense. Dope as hell. Never been so excited to hear an Ad read. Lol
They rented out a whole theme park for that Dynamite performance that you were asking about lol. Also that clip of Jungkook at the end was him filming for Life Goes On! He directed and filmed some of that MV!
"...that's me talking as a little American boy..." I teared up when you stopped and talked here! 😁😭 I used to wish with all my heart that ppl in the u.s. could feel what I feel when I listen to BTS songs back in 2014! I love the bulletproof boys! 😂I wanted them to be on u.s. TV and u.s. radio since I found them! It fills my heart that they did it, they made it!! Thank you for finding them and listening to them and doing reactions! All their success though was not without hardship. Please watch xceleste BTS Hardships. 💛🧡💜🤟🏻🤗
I'm lucky I stayed up. I've been waiting for this :) Oh Btw, since this video doesn't really show the struggles that bts had to face to get here, a good video to react to would be "Bts hardships 2013-2021".
they actually don’t go by their last names. in korea, they have their last names in front of their first names. it’s okay, i thought the same too, at first. for example, jeon jungkook. jeon (last name) jungkook (first name). that’s just the way they put it. im not sure the reasoning for it, but i loved that you thought that!
the reasoning behind this (at least for most asian countries) is just the belief that family comes before self, pretty cool! but i do remember trying to figure out why 3 of them had the same 'first' name, Kim.
oh, about the number of sales, i think it's worth mentioning that south korean acts tend to sell a lot more physical albums than their american counterparts, it's involved in the whole culture of kpop
awww u got sponsor~ yeheyyyyy edit: My mom always told me that market in Japan in music is big. I found an article and says it too ... "Japan is the world’s second-biggest recorded music market - worth some $2.9 billion to record labels last year, according to IFPI data."
What's funny about his documentary is that it was uploaded on the day before Permission To Dance topped No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. If he only waited a single more day before posting the documentary, he could've added it to BTS's success and breaking-record-spree (replacing themselves on No.1 and 8th consecutive No.1)
Tbh it doesn't really matter WHEN a video about BTS' success comes out. It will almost certainly be outdated within a day or two with how fast BTS break records. I can go one day off twitter and come back to absolutely insane news that takes me hours to catch up on. Scary sht 😭😭
ok, real quick. I DEFINITELY want you to react to idol. many people dislike the music video for being 'over the top' and 'too much', but that was the point. in that song they were breaking the kpop stereotypes of being 'cringy' and 'extra' while also sticking it to haters. in the song they purposefully wear and do things haters told them they looked bad doing. Like V wore glasses after a hater telling him it looked bad on him, RM used certain filters after a hater told him that filter looked ugly, and they wore bright colors after repeatedly being told they looked and dressed like girls. it is personally a favorite of mine
so japan is the 2nd largest music market (aside from the U.S.) but in my opinion most kpop artists don't go for the U.S. market because of racial differences. I don't know if I could name another asian singer I hear on the radio regularly. Asia is where these artists can strive, so it makes sense to aim for the biggest market within reach.
My favorite appearances BTS did (when it comes to their sets) is Home on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Life Goes On from the Late Late Show with James Corden
One of the most beautiful things that ARMY has is that they always tell to baby army that BTS debuted for each army with the song they joined to the fandom and they came into our life when we needed it most. In your case it would be that BTS debuted for you with Butter ✨✨
Also, in some Europe countries we put last name first. For me, it makes more sense to have the last name first since it's more uncommon than the first name and that distinguish you from the rest of the people that are called Claudia for example. But in recent years, there's been an american influence that switched the order.
It gets me so fucking emotional seeing my boys getting the attention and respect they actually deserve it makes me so happy I’m so proud of them they are so strong hard working talented people they mean everything to me ❤️❤️❤️
And then they went live and spent time with army 💜 well, today for example we had a mini live show from JK singing and dancing at VLive app/site hahaha he (them) misses us as much we miss them 💜
Even as someone who's seen endless amounts of these story of BTS docs, I never stop saying wow. So you aren't alone 😂. You should check out the "Home" performance on Jimmy Fallon for a fun set!
16:03 bighit wasn't a "big record label" by any means at the time though, bts had to do a bunch of small side gigs to keep the label afloat until like 2015 or so.. bighit was literally near bankrupcy before they started with bts. they were a small company from the very beginning, and 24k sales is not enough to keep a group and company going by any means.
BTS songs are what they feel at that time, actually it was vulnerable even from the start, even the first album the main song was abt the pressures south korean economy put their students under. As u know South korea has one of the the highest suicide rate among youth, from HYYH they changed their concept a bit with looks and visuals
Their journey is really amazing, yet they remain so normal and humble. They like each other and have fun working. I do think their strength is live concerts. Phenomenal to watch their energy and stage presence. Simply love your reactions.
You should totally watch RISE OF BANGTAN is a documentary made by a fan but it’s just SOOOOO GOOD. The editing the music every thing is just way too good
He should watch not just the good moments, but the bad. It truly gives another perspective on why we love them so much. They do so much for us so we try to do things for them in return. Even if they don’t know us all personally, they are laying down their lives for us. We truly are a family and would do anything for each other. 💜💜💜
@@RA-zr2fz Lol mine too, I became an army in 2020 :( But managing to get a concert ticket is really hard here and since we're literally in the opposite side of the world, they don't come here that often, so b-armys get a little bit mad about the idea of internacional army getting our tickets here rs specially because most of us also don't have money to watch the show in other countries. But yeah, here we like to sing together with the artists, so we do sing the whole show with them and the show becomes a two-sided show with BTS and ARMY singing together thee whole time. Interestingly enough, a lot of people think their demographic are teens and at the time, yes, but as they’ve aged, so has their demographic. The majority of their current fans are in the 30s. The 2nd group after that is 20s. The teens are 3rd and people in their 40s follow. There’s a video by XCeleste that brings up their demographic of fans by age and gender.
Even though BTS debuted as a hop-hop group, that doesn't negate that they had more calm, noon-hop hip songs like 'Just One Day.' The thing about BTS is that even their b-sides are very good and there's a lot of hidden gems people miss out on when only listening to their title tracks.
your reaction to bts is legit the best out of all that I have watched, nothing exaggerated just pure respect, great response, very informative in terms of filming and editing, and just having fun!!!
My first song I listened to of them was Dope back in 2015, and I was 15 at the time, and it’s so ironic that Namjoon said “Welcome! First time with BTS?” I faded out of them until the day DNA came out in 2017 and I’ve been invested ever since. I’m so incredibly proud of them. I was supposed to attend their Map Of The Soul Tour in Atlanta in 2020 but they haven’t announced the rescheduled dates yet 😭😭 I’m so glad you watched this video! They deserve all the love and happiness

Regarding the name of the group: In Korea, BTS usually goes by '방탄소년단' (pronounced 'bangtan sonyeondan'). Their MV will actually include both names, BTS/방탄소년단, in the title of the video. Their name literally translates into 'bulletproof boy scouts' in English. The name was supposed to represent the idea of a group of people standing up to all the harsh realities of the world - a running theme in their discography even to this day. Their original logo also resembled that of a shield or bulletproof vest, before it got streamlined during their breakthrough into the West in 2017. At that time BTS also gain new name - Beyond the Scene. Even ARMY, the fandom name has meaning - it stands for 'Adorable Representatives M.C. for Youth.' BTS comes from the constant sound of each syllable: - Bang --- B - Tan ------T - Sonyeondan --- S
There’s a lot of “why?” In the formation of bts Why would BH signed namjoon? Why would bang pd risk everything for a 16 yo? Why would jhope go to a lesser know company? Why would jungkook choose a lesser know company? Why would jin reject one company and say yes to the other? Why would jin get scouted coming out of a bus? There’s a lot of whys in every bts member story… like the possibilities are so low for some of these situations Maybe that’s how it was supposed to be 😊 The japanese matket is the second biggest market in the planet and the hardest one to crack into for foreigners. The best decision BH took was start with jpn promo since their debut. Now bts are BIG BIG in japan, they’ve always been good but after dynamite they exploded there Also, it’s not just about the demographics. Their music has evolved and their discography has grown with them. Since they are soooo involved with the music process is only logical for the songs to change with their age and phase in life
Butter! Alex - "And that's where I come in" That made me LOL! That was too cute. I think every ARMY does that while watching these documentaries. I think it's really great that you're taking the time out to learn more about the group. It's inspiring to see a group of "ragtag" boys who had the odds stacked against them rise to the top and beyond. I'm sure it gives many people hope that they can pursue their dreams regardless of the circumstances they may have started in. In any case, I'm really glad you found and enjoy BTS. I'm glad I found your channel!
the actual acronym BTS comes from the korean name of the group, which is '방탄소년단' that is pronounced as 'Bang Tan Soyeondan', i believe BTS was made for easier pronunciation for non-korean speakers. Bullet Proof Boy Scouts is the translation of the name, the meaning of BTS has now also been spread as "Beyond The Scene" in like 2017 or 2018.
In Korea people's names are written in the following way... The Surname comes always first, and the name is is divided in two. Here the example : Kim Tae-Hyung (V) , Park Ji-Min, Jeon Jung-Kook or Kim Nam-Joon ...
I absolutely love that you reacted to this! Sometime in the future can you react to the Rise of Bangtan series? Believe it or not there is still more to know and the series helps put BTS in context with the kpop industry as a whole and answer more of your questions. The series is so well made!
I feel that the rise of Bangtan Series gives a good balance of success and hardships but if you want an idea of some of the thing BTS went through (without watching the whole docu-series), then check out xCeleste BTS Hardships 2013-2021
By the way- I’m commenting as I watch your video lol 😂. You just mentioned that you didn’t know that they had vlogs and that is what makes the Rise of Bangtan series so amazing. The Series uses so much of their vlogs and behind the scenes footage to tell BTS’ story using their own words.
when you told yourself, "omg the video is so long, you need to sleep, but lets just watch it a few minutes", and then you end up watching the whole video while smiling, laughing, crying, and you so damn proud of becoming a BTS A.R.M.Y. #BORAHAE💜forever
Another BTS's achievement that I'd like to point out is that the South Korean president has appointed them as "Special Presidential Envoys of Culture and Future Generation" for public diplomacy to the UN General Assembly in New York & some major international meetings and join different activities aimed at promoting cooperation in key global issues. They are indeed something else~
Please react to the Life Goes On MV and BTS' reaction to it! Jungkook actually directed it! Film Out is also totally worth reacting to as well as On (both versions) and DNA. The 2020 MMA Performance would be a good virtual performance to go with since you mentioned wanting to check those out too.
I love this documentary! Btw Korean names are written differently than American ones, so the first “name” its actually their last name, for example: Park Ji-min Park: last name Ji-min: first name
I am glad to see you are trying to get to know more about BTS. I just wanted to point out one thing; their start was not bad, but not as much as they expected. Producer Si-Hyuk Bang, a.k.a. Bang PD, was a famous song writer with numerous hit songs, so when he opened up his new company, Big Hit Entertainment, I think they expected more like a mega hit debut. One thing I like about BTS and their crew the most is that they didn't give up. I mean they couldn't get chances to get on tv, so what they did they do? They made their own TV channel on youtube, Bangtan TV. They make their own radio programs, dance practices, MV's, entertainment show programs etc. Moreover, they are continuously doing it up to this stage, because they know that their fans, who are also their subscribers of their various channels, are the people that made them who they are. I really highly appreciate their effort.
Like many Asian cultures, they say their nest with the family names first. So Jimin's family name is Park. BTS comes from their full Korean name BangTan Sonyeondan which roughly translates to bulletproof boy scouts. The Japanese market is actually the 2nd biggest market in the world. Almost all kpop groups cater to the Japanese market as their secondary target market.
BTS has faced huge success and huge hardships. I think they go hand in hand. Their hardships have given them a strong foundation of humility to be able to handle their meteoric success. All of it is truly admirable. Neither the hardship nor the success has been easy to carry. They take this to heart, which is why so many people feel that their success is richly deserved. They don't flaunt their success, but they do respectfully own it.
I'm so glad you got to see more about BTS. Watching this just made my heart swell since I've been an ARMY since 2016. Their success is really out of this world and yet they manage to remain humble and true to themselves and that just makes me so proud to support them. If you can, I recommend watching a video on their hardships because everyone needs to know that their success was Not handed to them at all. They reached where they are now through their talent, sincerity, and hard work which is why they gained the support of millions of ARMY.
37:21 exactly. At least because of hardship they have been very creative : you should check the Fallon week. You should check MMA and MAMA chronologically I think they are up to 47 version sets of dynamite now. Sowoozoo’s stage was amazing
51:38 , the member holding the camera is Jungkook and he actually directed some of the scenes in one of their songs “Life Goes On”, definetly encouring you to watch the MV and the behind the scenes. And yes you also watch Jungkook’s Golden Closet Films, all of them are amazing!
For us to appreciate more of BTS’ achievements now, we also need to know and learn all the hardships and struggles they’ve gone through before becoming this successful. Pls react to xCeleste’s documentary about their hardships☺️
If you ever want to really see their progress than just the successes from debut to now, i highly recommend "The Rise of Bangtan" fan-made documentary series. It uses a lot of the behind the scene clips and i reaaaally love the editing and context clips in that series. There's 12 chapters out so far, but its extremely well done.
I love how when you mentioned Army, you said “we”. If you haven’t been welcomed already, WELCOME! I get chills every time I see their stories of success and hardship and feel immense pride.
Hi ! So glad you reacted tot his one, it's a good one for a quick summary of their career, about their success as you said ^^ I saw people answering a lot of your questions already, so I will just point out, that in the end when Jungkook is with his camera, it's not for GCF, but for "Life Goes On", the title track of "BE", he's the one who directed it (with the help of their usual team, and director, of course), and he recorded some of the footage himself. Oh and also, you talked about liking more contemporary dance, so I think you will like Jimin's solos, he has a few, who are beautiful (his solo in MMA 2019, his solo song "Lie" too) And you will probably really like a lot of BTS live performances anyway, I think with what you said (the recent ones, and the old ones with a crowd too were amazing in terms of staging) Oh, and lastly, if you want to see the counterpart of this video, there is a video by xCeleste about the hardships they went trough "BTS hardships 2013-2021" th-cam.com/video/EdY6wnLsetQ/w-d-xo.html And, yep I have the chills at the same time as you everytime I watch this video x) Thank you a lot for your recation, have a nice day ! :D
I believe the reason why they released Japanese songs is because of how linked Japan itself is in the k-pop industry, and just how big the kpop market has been over there for so many years.
The Korean music market before BTS made it big had a very clear hierarchy. “The big three”were the big three music labels (SM, JYP, YG) that basically controlled the kpop industry they had all of the connections and money to invest in training their trainees and to throw into their debut guaranteeing a level of success. After the big three there are mid teir labels Cube, Pledis, and Starship after them all the other labels are tiny and were lucky to get any success at all usually groups from these smaller labels would sometimes get lucky and go viral like EXID. big hit was a one of those smaller labels the fact that BTS dominates KPOP is anomaly enough let alone the internationally.
One of the thing I love about them is that they keep fighting even when people try to pull them down . A lesson in life for everyone not to give up no matter what negative stuff other people say about you.
@@AngelaSealana you're right it's family name, I always refered to it as last name for everyone but the explanation you give is not also true but so meaningful to what we call last names in general, I love it thanks for clarifying ❤️
Thank you for your reaction! I really enjoyed it! We can see how hard- working our boys are! Fun fact: JUNGKOOK was the director of the video 'Life goes on' from the album BE . that is why he is holding a camera.
I would probably also check out xCelest's introduction to BTS (if you haven't already), there are some more in-depth things I think talked about with how Big Hit and BTS rose up. Big Hit when putting BTS together was a very small company and at one point nearly went bankrupt.
I agree with you so much!! I really think the BU concept was really smart because it makes people come back to their old music videos. Some people come back to it to analyze the story further. It also encourages new fans to venture to their old music videos. So I think it basically makes their music videos timeless because people always come back to it. Also like you said, the vulnerability shown in BU is also a key element as to why people are invested to it and resonates with it. It makes me happy that we have the same thoughts!!
this documentary tells a story about their succes well, that's true, but the thing is that.. well, it seems to me that it kinda devalues it because there's nothing's said about any problems that they faced, making it look like something simple and accidental. like, yeah, it's still gives you this wow-effect, but it's not honest and fair enough.. the fact that nothing was said about how terribly disrespectfully k-pop industry treated them until like 2015-2016, tv shows' hosts basically humiliated them by sayng like VERY unpleasant thing right to their faces when half of them were still minors (so bighit made their own show "Run BTS" so they didn't have to attend all these programmes anymore), award ceremonies weren't even letting them to perform on their stages at first, but allowed groups from Big 3 (SM, JYP, YG) that debuted like 2 months ago to perform with 3 songs, gave them some space in halls near bathrooms instead of dressing rooms, where other idols with proper dressing rooms could see them rehearse, and i'm not even saying about how other groups' fans and even their companies treated them (sm particularly envied bts' succes, bc despite being looked down on by the industry, they still had fans and good sales, so sm and some other companies i think tried to buy bts from bighit but failed as Band PD believed in those boys. sm once bought a group that threatened sm's EXO's success and just did nothing with them, allowing exo to gain their popularity back. later the ceo of sm said that without them bts' success wouldn't even have happened, but the truth is that without them it would've come a lot earlier). and all this hate tripled when bts got their first daesang in 2016 - then they got a black ocean and huge anounts of hate. in the documentary they talked about this daesang and included some footage, however they didn't even show how members were shocked and started crying, how suga and rm talked about writing this album backstage, that it was mentally exhausting and they spent nights just talking and crying. 2015-2017 were really tough, you even couldn't say that you were an army back then without hearing sh!it about boys and armys (some other kpop stans are saying that we're overly dramatic and all kpop groups received hate, but bts were and are much more popular, so there're way more haters not only among general public that haven't even heard any of bts' songs other than dynamite, but also among other kpop stans). bts themselves know about these times, rm even mentioned it in their 2021 festa video. they definetely have been through a lot as a group and as individuals, but like they sing in ON - "can't hold me down 'cause you know i'm a fighter, bring the pain on" (or lyrics of their cyphers, mic drop and solo mixtapes that are written for haters ;) ). of course now they'e HUGE huge and it's interesting to look through their story of success, but you can't focus just on a good side because the story would be incomplete then, like namjoon said in an interview that came out literally today - "the reason why I talked about those times was that I wanted to pay off my debts to a lot of people. To pass over this story like it never happened would be like saying “that’s not us.” And because it’s in the past. I think that, since it’s in the past, and since we’re doing all right now, and since those days were clearly necessary, I think we have to be able to talk about just how difficult a time that was." you can see why armys are like that, we've been trying to protect the boys this whole time as there always were a LOT of undeserved hate, and i'm not even talking about racism that they faced. they have amazing personalities, incredible talents and passion for music, and these are just ones of many other things that they've become popular for. well that's,, a lot i'm sorry huh, i just think this part of their story is important and i can't shut up sometimes, hope there're no mistakes at least.. and i'm not trying to say anything bad about you or the author of the documentary, of course not! the film is really good, but it's not all rosy like it seems to be when you're watching this. and i love your reactions, thank you so much!
What i really love about BTS albums is that it's kind of like chronicle of growth. At each phase of growth, the struggles change, we see the school boy, young high school love, we see the 'emo' persona too, and then we start to get into them as Youth, the struggles visibly change, they begin dealing with heavier topics such as mental health, perception of oneself, and then as you go on they also start deaing with existential crises, more mental health, loneliness, self worth, adult love. I love how, when you listen to the albums in order, and read the lyrics, you can track that change and progress for yourself. I think that's so cool
Aw I’m so sad you didn’t get the sauces. Those were legit really good. Maybe it’ll come back sometime and you’ll definitely have to snag some. Sweet chili went great with the nuggets and was actually spicy. And the Cajun was great with the fries.

Yea I can definitely think they were underdogs
This is what makes them an interesting case and what caught the attention of both fans and media everywhere!!

its not that they go by "last names". their family name is first, then their given name. I would be Oliver Caitlin instead of Caitlin Oliver. Its this way in various asian cultures.
Not every country in asia though
i think it only applies to Korea, Japan and China.. I'm not sure.. 😅✌️
I'm from the Philippines, we write our first name first, and then the middle initial which comes from the last name of our mother, and then the last name... example, Zia R. Dantes
EDIT: But when it comes to documents/records, we write our last name first, followed by comma [ , ] and then our first name, followed by the middle initial or middle name..
example 1: Dantes, Zia R.
example 2: Dantes, Zia Rivera
when I was a student, I like to write my name like the example #2 cause
it's fun lol

@@Funtan_Sonyeondan I am from India and our last names also come at the end
But in some other parts of India it's the opposite
Funfact:- I'm from India and I have three names within my name (Maybe it's cause I'm Christian, but most of my Christian Indian friends follow this format in their names) , My first name, my god-mother's name/baptism name (my god mother is my mom's mom as I'm their second daughter), then my father's name :]
In fact it is not only for some Asian countries. I am from Argentina and here it is very common that when you talk about a person who is not close, you put the last name first, it is the formal way of speaking. The same happens in several other Latin countries for example.

This video was good, but he was right when he said it really only showed the good stuff. They fought and clawed their way to the top and deserve every bit of success they got. This kinda made it seem like it was all luck or that the dominoes just kinda fell into place for them. @@margplsr3120 All Korean last names are mono-syllabic.

2)There's a joke in our fandom that RM was jungkook's crush and first love(just a joke)
3)Members once revealed that JIMIN got rejected almost 10 times but he didn't give up.
4)BangTan Sonyeondan(korean name of the group) so that's how it's short form is BTS(notice the capital letter)
5)I think bighit/HYBE give BTS their own variety show because someone rarely invite them and when they invite them the host everytime humilated them badly I legit didn't watch those episodes because I always got teary eyes and now they are praising them if BTS is mentioned in their show for a sec they put BTS in the title for the views from ARMYs.
6) BTS when reacted to their first stage in 2018 they were cringing now I want them to react to boy in luv warren g version I bet they all will be dying on the floor.
7) K-pop is a commercial product. Japanese and Chinese audiences generally prefer to listen to music in their own language, and because Japan is literally the largest market for K-pop musical products (they buy more legal files and CDs than Korea), K-pop is economically incentivized to access that market ( Find it from google)
8) The fact artist like
Saudi Arabia repeatedly requested South Korean pop superstars BTS perform in the country, culminating in a rare concert at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh in October, they were first non-arab artist to perform there.
14) I actually got obssesed with BTS ba da ba ba ba I don't know why maybe I am weird
15) Dynamite dance moves was a tribute to Michael jackson but haters said that BTS are copying but later on Michael jackson's family tweeted and praised BTS and even said MJ would have liked it.

The music videos for have yet to be released, but V likely played a key role in conceptualizing their sets, props, and outfits. BTS also recognizes V for his uncredited role of looking after their or .Jin, Suga, J-Hope, and Jungkook are all credited with “Production and Coordination” All members are composer and song writers.

@@indigodragon0613 You ain't lying tho 😭😭😭
Reminds me when the first version was dropped just like 2dys or so before BTS got a grammy nom so it wasn't included. 😅😂
ok, real quick. Like V wore glasses after a hater telling him it looked bad on him, RM used certain filters after a hater told him that filter looked ugly, and they wore bright colors after repeatedly being told they looked and dressed like girls. it is personally a favorite of mine
that's the point. we should be ourselves right? I love the mv so much.
when I first know that, I actually wheezed 😂😂😂 savage as always
Yes both idol and idol explanation by DKDKTV if possible.
I love the idol MV. When people complain about how extra it is, I laugh cuz that's the point.
I wasn't a BTS fan when i first watched it , but i enjoyed it a lot 😂 it was funny and cool and the song slapped me and i got a crush on V 😂
Jungkook directed the life goes on mv. That part from 51:56 is from the shooting sketch of life goes on.
they're doing this while studying in college AND graduating with honours lol
now that's the proof that they are smart SMART...I mean if I was them I would graduate without honours😂
Literally! 6 of them are majoring in business management and JK is getting his bachelor's.
Purr
And me here sitting on bed scrolling through phone doing nothing and Don't want to study!lol😂😂
Thanks!
I really love all your reactions to BTS and I can't wait to see more!
Thank You So Much!! sorry i just barely saw this
Actually JK was filming the MV for Life Goes On because he was the director 😌
Thank you for your reaction 💜
so japan is the 2nd largest music market (aside from the U.S.) but in my opinion most kpop artists don't go for the U.S. market because of racial differences.
Oh and there’s a behind the scenes episode for the Jimmy Fallon performances (Home, black swan, idol, dynamite)
One of the most beautiful things that ARMY has is that they always tell to baby army that BTS debuted for each army with the song they joined to the fandom and they came into our life when we needed it most. In your case it would be that BTS debuted for you with Butter ✨✨
Ok so just to help you clarify. In Korea and most other Asian countries, the family (last name) comes first and then their name name comes last.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Also, in some Europe countries we put last name first. For me, it makes more sense to have the last name first since it's more uncommon than the first name and that distinguish you from the rest of the people that are called Claudia for example. But in recent years, there's been an american influence that switched the order.
@@claudiasc4506 what lmao
It gets me so fucking emotional seeing my boys getting the attention and respect they actually deserve it makes me so happy I’m so proud of them they are so strong hard working talented people they mean everything to me ❤️❤️❤️
When Alex said " They should've won" .. I felt that. We all army felt the same way at that time
And then they went live and spent time with army 💜 well, today for example we had a mini live show from JK singing and dancing at VLive app/site hahaha he (them) misses us as much we miss them 💜
37:33 yessss, seriously I am gobsmacked and dumbfounded how most of their late night TV appearances from 2020 & 2021are basically MVs
Even as someone who's seen endless amounts of these story of BTS docs, I never stop saying wow. So you aren't alone 😂. You should check out the "Home" performance on Jimmy Fallon for a fun set!
OMG yes! BTS week on Jimmy Fallon had some amazing sets. Home was so good!
I've been waiting for this!!! Lots of love from brazil
Well thank you!!
AAAAA I'm from Brazil too!!! Let's go b-armys!! 💜💜🇧🇷
It's on my bucket list to go to a BTS concert in Brazil!!
@@RA-zr2fz Lol mine too, I became an army in 2020 :(
But managing to get a concert ticket is really hard here and since we're literally in the opposite side of the world, they don't come here that often, so b-armys get a little bit mad about the idea of internacional army getting our tickets here rs specially because most of us also don't have money to watch the show in other countries.
But yeah, here we like to sing together with the artists, so we do sing the whole show with them and the show becomes a two-sided show with BTS and ARMY singing together thee whole time. It's beautiful. 💜🇧🇷
But it would be awesome if they had like a lot of shows here so we can all enjoy them!! 💜
@@LoveTheBasics BTW if you want to get chills and enjoy a great show look for videos of their shows here in Brazil, there's A TON pf reactions to watch too rs The 2019 the last one, it's so awesome. I've watched many times the more formal clips and also b-amrys fancams freaking the hell out haha it's so much fun. I laugh and enjoy a lot, it's a great quarentine healer 💜🇧🇷
BangTan Sonyeondan = BTS
Bangtan Sonyeondan = Bulletproof Boy Scout
So if this gave you their success story (and who can argue their success at this point), the next reaction should be to their hardships. xCeleste, here on TH-cam has one of the best BTS Hardship compilations out there. You should DEF check it out next. Here's the link:

bumping this xCekeste vids, also Rise of Bangtan series
Yes, this video will enlighten you as well as make you angry. It will help explain why APMY are so protective of BTS. Definitely a must see video.
I am 42 a mum of 3...Been loving the boys since 2018
65 here! :D
61 here
Even though BTS debuted as a hop-hop group, that doesn't negate that they had more calm, noon-hop hip songs like 'Just One Day.' The thing about BTS is that even their b-sides are very good and there's a lot of hidden gems people miss out on when only listening to their title tracks.
your reaction to bts is legit the best out of all that I have watched, nothing exaggerated just pure respect, great response, very informative in terms of filming and editing, and just having fun!!!
BTS is from BangTan Seonyeondan (Korean words), meaning Bulletproof Boy Scout.
My first song I listened to of them was Dope back in 2015, and I was 15 at the time, and it’s so ironic that Namjoon said “Welcome! First time with BTS?”
I faded out of them until the day DNA came out in 2017 and I’ve been invested ever since. I’m so incredibly proud of them. I was supposed to attend their Map Of The Soul Tour in Atlanta in 2020 but they haven’t announced the rescheduled dates yet 😭😭
I’m so glad you watched this video! They deserve all the love and happiness
Lmao their hair is uhhh interesting for their debut can we also talk about the makeup guys😂
lol you ain't lying that you are in 50% of this comment section, love it.
@@liafadhilahs did I lie 😭 but no fr I'm leaving now lol I just know comments are very important to the growth and promotion of a channel and since I can't afford to support him on patreon I can at least boost his engagement right? 😂 And I also see he genuinely cares about learning as much about bts as he can in such a short time so if a little comment can help I'll gladly do it. I'm just waiting for someone to come call me annoying though ☠️
Even ARMY, the fandom name has meaning - it stands for 'Adorable Representatives M.C. for Youth.'
BTS comes from the constant sound of each syllable:
- Bang --- B
- Tan ------T
- Sonyeondan --- S
There’s a lot of “why?” In the formation of bts
Why would BH signed namjoon? Why would bang pd risk everything for a 16 yo? Why would jhope go to a lesser know company? Why would jungkook choose a lesser know company? Why would jin reject one company and say yes to the other? Why would jin get scouted coming out of a bus? There’s a lot of whys in every bts member story… like the possibilities are so low for some of these situations
Maybe that’s how it was supposed to be 😊
The japanese matket is the second biggest market in the planet and the hardest one to crack into for foreigners. The best decision BH took was start with jpn promo since their debut. Now bts are BIG BIG in japan, they’ve always been good but after dynamite they exploded there
Also, it’s not just about the demographics. Their music has evolved and their discography has grown with them. Since they are soooo involved with the music process is only logical for the songs to change with their age and phase in life
Butter! Alex - "And that's where I come in"
That made me LOL!
I'm crying while watching. they've come so far. I am so proud, indeed.
"It took me 32 minutes"
🤣🤣 It was so cute when you said that. You were so happy to get to the part where you actually experienced it yourself
I absolutely love that you reacted to this! Sometime in the future can you react to the Rise of Bangtan series? Believe it or not there is still more to know and the series helps put BTS in context with the kpop industry as a whole and answer more of your questions. The series is so well made!
Check out trailer for the series! th-cam.com/video/SSaz25aJHyA/w-d-xo.html
I feel that the rise of Bangtan Series gives a good balance of success and hardships but if you want an idea of some of the thing BTS went through (without watching the whole docu-series), then check out xCeleste BTS Hardships 2013-2021
😭 why did I never think to recommend this??? Aneesa is an actual professional industry editor!!!
#BORAHAE💜forever
ok looks like you need to react to life goes on. Jungkook actually directed that mv. they all had a hand in the production of the album
Yes,im so proud of them)
Please react to the Life Goes On MV and BTS' reaction to it! Jungkook actually directed it! Film Out is also totally worth reacting to as well as On (both versions) and DNA. The 2020 MMA Performance would be a good virtual performance to go with since you mentioned wanting to check those out too.
like the moment ..i need u was played..i got goosebumbs..like its such a beautiful song
I love this documentary! Btw Korean names are written differently than American ones, so the first “name” its actually their last name, for example:
Park Ji-min
Park: last name
Ji-min: first name
Ahhh
You said "we" when you talked about ARMY 🥺💜
I did catch that too. 💜 Welcome darling, we did saw it coming tho. It's just impossible not to love these 7 beautiful human beings.
Yep I actually paused the vid when he said that lol
I'm so glad you got to see more about BTS. Watching this just made my heart swell since I've been an ARMY since 2016. Their success is really out of this world and yet they manage to remain humble and true to themselves and that just makes me so proud to support them. If you can, I recommend watching a video on their hardships because everyone needs to know that their success was Not handed to them at all. They reached where they are now through their talent, sincerity, and hard work which is why they gained the support of millions of ARMY.
Euphoria is a solo song of JK & it's a masterpiece (it's live performance)
Dziękujemy.
Thank You so much!!
@@LoveTheBasics No problem! It was a great video, keep up the good work!
37:21 exactly. At least because of hardship they have been very creative : you should check the Fallon week. You should check MMA and MAMA chronologically
I think they are up to 47 version sets of dynamite now.
I'm still watching, but paused to scroll thru the comments so far. I'm loving how we are hyped for you getting a sponsor 🙌🏻
I love how when you mentioned Army, you said “we”. If you haven’t been welcomed already, WELCOME! I get chills every time I see their stories of success and hardship and feel immense pride.
Wow so I am early today. Love your reaction. Lots of love from Nepal
Thank you so much!!
Oh and also, you talked about liking more contemporary dance, so I think you will like Jimin's solos, he has a few, who are beautiful (his solo in MMA 2019, his solo song "Lie" too) And you will probably really like a lot of BTS live performances anyway, I think with what you said (the recent ones, and the old ones with a crowd too were amazing in terms of staging)
Oh, and lastly, if you want to see the counterpart of this video, there is a video by xCeleste about the hardships they went trough "BTS hardships 2013-2021" th-cam.com/video/EdY6wnLsetQ/w-d-xo.html
And, yep I have the chills at the same time as you everytime I watch this video x) Thank you a lot for your recation, have a nice day ! :D
I believe the reason why they released Japanese songs is because of how linked Japan itself is in the k-pop industry, and just how big the kpop market has been over there for so many years.
I really love what you said about the choice to make music about vulnerability and internal challenges. It's so true. And it's become BTS' trademark
The camera you mentioned that you wanted yo buy was used to film Life goes on! Check it out!
BTS has the greatest underdog story,, thats why im so attached they made it so far :')
In Korean the last name comes first.
It's not last name. It's the family name. 👍🏻 Family first in Korea.
@@AngelaSealana you're right it's family name, I always refered to it as last name for everyone but the explanation you give is not also true but so meaningful to what we call last names in general, I love it thanks for clarifying ❤️
@@LeilaleilaZ I think saying the last name is equivalent for Americans.
I think that, since it’s in the past, and since we’re doing all right now, and since those days were clearly necessary, I think we have to be able to talk about just how difficult a time that was."
you can see why armys are like that, we've been trying to protect the boys this whole time as there always were a LOT of undeserved hate, and i'm not even talking about racism that they faced. they have amazing personalities, incredible talents and passion for music, and these are just ones of many other things that they've become popular for.
well that's,, a lot i'm sorry huh, i just think this part of their story is important and i can't shut up sometimes, hope there're no mistakes at least.. and i'm not trying to say anything bad about you or the author of the documentary, of course not! the film is really good, but it's not all rosy like it seems to be when you're watching this. and i love your reactions, thank you so much!
Right the sauces were so tasty!
my ARMY friends would mix the 2 sauces and tasted really good! BTS meal still being served here til September.
Boy sameeee! I regret not knowing BTS earlier, I only found them during Dynamite era. But better now that later, and us Armys are so glad that you liked them as much as you did! Thank you for supporting them
