Liverpool is considered very "northern" and the North of England is very working class, very salt of the Earth. They also sound nothing like Al, being from the South near London. The further north you go in England, the more the accents become less Cockney and more a mix of all the different local people. An equivalent statement would be if the South succeeded from the US, they'd have to take Virginia with them because of the Appalachian culture being so Southern.

People from Liverpool do not consider themselves as British....Its very complicated and goes down to religion and Irish and different factions of what Britain was originally made up of.
It has probably got a lot to do with the government at the time sending warships into the Mersey to break up the strikes that were happening, the shooting of 2 men by the army and Unions becoming strong enough to back peddle the government. Churchill was the guy behind this, cutting his teeth for India. And we are scouse not english . F..k the tories.

Its refreshing when you find a comedian with the balls to stick 2 fingers up to the pc. and hurty feelings brigades it is also, imo. very very funny. I liken Al Murray to Bill Burr in that they use the platform of comedy to highlight the craziness of a lot of what the woke folk are forcing upon the world that is dictating what we all should think and say. And right now Rick Gervais is doing similar ''comedy'' calling out the trans world madness.
If you ask a Liverpudlian where they are from, I think it's unikely they'd say "England" or "Great Britain". They're from Liverpool and that's all you need to know.

My favourite is Kevin Bridges. He actually had a show on the whole topic of Scottish Independence - done at the time of the 2014 referendum. Absolutely hilarious. Also, check out the brilliant "Bus Stop" sketch. His accent/dialect may be a bit challenging for non-Brits at first, but it's worth the effort. Love your commentaries, btw
