I am very into this game in a big way but I am still a novice and at the moment only have a couple of troops on your top ten list. It's great that you can explain the importance of the traits etc. as I am definitely not using my troops to their best advantage. This game has really gotten under my skin! Thank you.

i can give you some but with all respect to the op: don't rely on this list because there are dozens of much more useful troops which in many cases are less hard to get. his list contains 2 of very universal troops which you will 100% use very frequently and at least one (obsidius) which is very useful in one of the broken spire builds (there are couple variants of that build) but the build can be hard to get and also is less flexible. i can help you with building something if u want ofc because i personally had very hard time with various builds when i started playing gow
well I got no clue on how to build my team until watch this!! Thanks Keylime!! That Leprechaun reminds me of the "Egg Thief" lol!! I‘ll try it with my Fey troops. Didn't notice that was an EXPLODE not a DESTORIED!!
Yao at 66 life does 22 boosted dmg at a 3:1 ratio, not 36.. also he steals the magic before calculating damage which adds 8 more magic boosting your attack dmg output even more..
In your opinion. How important is it to build a cohesive team built around race/kingdom over other things like mana synergy? or is it important to try to hit both as often as possible?
To be honest I don’t really try and worry about kingdom/team bonuses at all. If a team works, a handful of extra stats won’t make or break it. It’s generally much much harder to build really effective teams that are pure kingdom or pure color (like guild wars). Where I DO sometimes worry about pure troop type teams is when there’s a specific kind of synergy. A pure dragon team for instance can be very strong because dragon troops in general are awesome, and the dragon guard class is also awesome (and gives stats to dragons in 4/5 matches). Whereas I don’t try and go out of my way to make a pure dwarf team, as I don’t find dwarves to be very effective to use 4 at a time and win consistently or cleanly. All just depends. But I’d say 75% of my teams don’t worry about troop type or kingdom synergy. There’s only a handful of combos where it really works, The mix type weapons are fun because they give me a good reason to at least try new things.
Your list sadly miss Thrall which is hands down the best mana generator in the whole game with a free extra turn with 13+ red gems and a ridiculously low 6 mana to bring it up. While I do like Possesed King it does not fit in as many teams as Thrall.

I would have probably grouped DI and Glaycion into one category like what you did with the empowered converters. Also would argue wrath is stronger than the both of them if you have a hero that can do the mana generation.
I actually had Wrath on my list as a candidate, so I'm definitely on the same page with you there. The main reason I have Glaycion in a league of his own is that he isn't just a basic skull converter, he's skull resistant, converts doomskulls vs. regular skulls AND freezes. In terms of overall impact, he's just miles ahead compared to the others. I'd agree that Wrath is a potentially more potent troop than Ishbaala, but what put her over the top for me was the 40% mana start she brings to the table, opening up Divine focused lineups. It's a close one between Ish and Wrath though.
@@Keylime I value wrath a lot because the explode 2 gems is a big reason why TPK tops your list; however, the doomskull conversion is a good counter argument. Personally feel that enrage is better than skull resistance for a skull converter specifically but freeze is better than wrath's burn so it's a pretty tough call.
I did really consider him for addition, for what it's worth, so we're not so far apart on this one. I'd agree, the enrage is a major leg up for Wrath. I've just found Wrath's "squishiness" gets me in more trouble than I'd like.
@@Keylime that is exactly the problem with wrath! His explosions are an amazing trait but every team he is best in does not have him in first slot because he has to be alive to utilize his traits... and seems like 2 turns is all it takes for wrath to go "squiiiiish"...

agreed on that video idea! Especially the "empower cards", I am trying to make a viable team with Moon Rabbit, with as few legionaries as possible.
