When I saw you sitting in your "rock chair" - I had a good flow of tears. You see my late parents had a dream of building a house on a parcel of my Grandfather's ranch. In anticipation about 1970 they blasted out a rock outcropping along the road. And a "rock chair " was a part of the rubble. Mon was born in a cabin not too far away. The house was built in 1973 and Mom used to take her morning walk to the chair every morning until her death out there of a heart attack....the very same ranch where both of her parents were born on. And Mom was born and died there. The rock chair is still there. Water was always a issue out there; and I took a chance and brought in a well rig last year. I hit the largest well within several miles. 50,000 gallons a day. So next year about 200 peach and 40 Avocado trees go in to replant the Orchard.....Because of Big Dreams, and saving money I developed a water system nobody would have ever thought possible. I watch you both.....seeing myself in many ways a reflection of your oldest son. I'll be watching until you pound the very last nail....then .... P=A=R=T=Y !!!

I remember hauling trusses up on the top deck by hand, of there were plenty of bodies to help. Last job I did were 66footers, but we did use a crane for that one. So having a crane on any job is a pure treat and should be appreciated. There are no old and bold Framers. Just beat up old framers. Rock on people.
One of the coolest moments of your video was that short clip where Jeremy had his hands in his pockets. It was probably the first time I have seen him actually take a much needed break and let someone else take the lead. Such a small snippet but an important part of your journey.

What a time saver having tresses built in a factory and installed by professionals makes this phase of building so enjoyable to watch for your family. I remember 34 years ago how excited we were with the installation of our 8/12 pitch hip roof trusses bringing to life the architecture design of our home too. It is truly a great feeling! Your roof pitch and gable design is beautiful against the mountain range in the background. Very fitting for your location and design. All your hard work and sacrifices are paying off as planned. Oh my gosh, memories just came flooding back of when my parents were building our family home and trusses went on. It was an amazing day and I remember a feeling of "this is real" and excitement, and motivation to get to the next step. I could see my room and imagine living in it. Feeling safe and secure in the thought of a home that was ours and how amazing my Dad and Mom were to be able to make a drawing and dream come to life. Camping on the floor viewing the stars before the sheeting went on. That was over 30 years ago for me now. What a happy beautiful day for you all! I loved truss day when I worked in construction. It always went quick and made such a big difference. Wait til window install day. That's a good day as well. Don't underestimate how long it will take to do the rest. Plumbing, electrical, drywall, trim, painting.....this will seem to take forever. Don't mean to be a Debbie downer. Just keep on keeping on. Stay consistent, like you have been. As always, love watching your progress and learning from your character.

A Carpenter that I worked with named Tim Hansen told me that he was scared of falling when up on the walls framing a house! Even though he was one of the best mountain climbers in the world! I’m a carpenter here in Australia. Trusses are like a big jigsaw puzzle. Not hard. However the laws here don’t allow us to do it with cranes and no barriers. The rule is anything over 2meters and you need scaffolding. To set up scaffold you need to be licensed. So red tape galore. This was a pleasure to watch. Thanks you.

I didn't draw my vision up but found my dream home online and made it my screen saver so that everyday I see it and think I am one day closer to my build...but at 61 I am also one day later on making it happen. But it will happen. Thanks for the motivation!

Watching you look up at all the trusses, there was a moment of quiet. I think I could actually hear the gulp in your throat, the deep breath you took, and the sigh of relief. I cried. Happy is not even close to how I felt for you at that moment. Then when you were holding little man and he was smiling rubbing your face I cried again. You have become a part of my family and I share the moments that I get to see with you even if I am not there. You guys are an inspiration to me and my fourteen years old son. I'm a young widow and I pray that one day we can build our dream house and I can watch my son grow up there and have many memories like you. Having those pre-made spacers/brackets make it easy. Back when I put my trusses on, we made them from 1X6" board with nails already started so all I had to do was align the edge of the boards to edge of the trusses and drive the nails. I was scared to DEATH standing on the top of my 50 foot trusses! It was Me, Myself, and I on the trusses while my friend set them on the wall with his excavator with a long steel pole attached to the bucket. I was so glad when the last truss went up and I didn't have to walk the tops of those trusses again. Glad it was only a 4 on 12!

Watching you look up at all the trusses, there was a moment of quiet. I think I could actually hear the gulp in your throat, the deep breath you took, and the sigh of relief. I cried. Happy is not even close to how I felt for you at that moment. Then when you were holding little man and he was smiling rubbing your face I cried again. You have become a part of my family and I share the moments that I get to see with you even if I am not there. You guys are an inspiration to me and my fourteen years old son. I'm a young widow and I pray that one day we can build our dream house and I can watch my son grow up there and have many memories like you. Having those pre-made spacers/brackets make it easy. Back when I put my trusses on, we made them from 1X6" board with nails already started so all I had to do was align the edge of the boards to edge of the trusses and drive the nails. I was scared to DEATH standing on the top of my 50 foot trusses! It was Me, Myself, and I on the trusses while my friend set them on the wall with his excavator with a long steel pole attached to the bucket. I was so glad when the last truss went up and I didn't have to walk the tops of those trusses again. Glad it was only a 4 on 12!

Once the roof is on, I’d be wanting the ‘WATER CLOSET’ toilet connected. I would use it with no more established than just those basics.
