      @earlhollar1906 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      There are millions of families in America like this one, of all ethnic heritage's! The secret is you have to be willing to learn and willing to work. If that will to work is taken away by being paid not to work, then you have the situation we're in now. Corporate just eats this up , because they can charge more money for a product that is in demand! Our big mistake was we failed to act when we could have stopped it! I'm not talkin in recent years either , many years in the past.

      @@earlhollar1906 unfortunately there's almost no families like this anymore, but I get what you're saying. America is dying and has been for a while, but knowing the Bible prophecy related to the US makes me optimistic for the near future. The end of this sinful world is near and heaven will be a much better place. Watching this family gives us a little taste of it.

    There are always setbacks and errors as you learn. As long as no one is hurt, not matter what you do, a mistake is a lesson learned. What you are doing is amazing, it takes courage to tackle things you haven’t done before. You guys are amazing and I really enjoy watching you build your dream, because it’s not just a house, it’s a lifestyle, with all it entails that is the dream you are living. Even the pro`s make mistakes at times. You solved it just fine. When i built headers, i used glue in between the layers and sometimes put rigid foam in any void to finish it out. Very strong with glue and lots of nails. Nobody would know if you took that large 12 foot header down and re-did it. You might get a little sagging otherwise. You don`t want your doors being pinched 5 years down the road. Great job, your learning by doing. Take care

    • @dblake3806
      @dblake3806 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @2:47 there are vertical supports over that header. I’d be sure to fasten securely to the rafters so the vertical studs are not adding weight but pulling up on the header. I had the same thoughts if the header could span without sagging.
      Nice team work you two!

      6917SctyGrp Powers ~ Vindicated! I was thinking exactly the same thing re the saw blade as I watched Jeremy make those cuts! It looked at times like it was hard work to get the saw through the wood when it should go through like butter.

    Your house looks amazing! Your mistake is merely just an adjustment. Love the 2’ overhang and the open living space with those massive windows.

    Looking good, remember we are not perfect we learn by our mistakes.

    Oh guys, I thought you really messed something up by the title of this video. But it was a (relatively) easy fix and looks perfect now! What a view you’re going to have from that room!

    All of the glass in the walls of the great room will be awesome. I just hope the wildlife doesn't try to crash through it.

    GREAT POST!!! The boys up top are banging it out!! I knew the front wall was going to be challenging, framing in place instead of on the floor, you saw your mistake before you went any higher, that would have been a real pain in the butt. Your forever home is really taking shape now, you should all be very proud of the build so far.....remember... measure twice...cut once...chris

    There's an old saying in the trades I'm sure just about everywhere; Its not about how good you are, it about how good you are fixing your screw-ups. You apparently passed the test!

    Having the roof go on totally changes the way the space feels. Keep on keeping on.
