I am not sure Russell would got a podium if the the race had been started properly b. Kimi was pretty gutted the race didn't start because he and the Alfa Romeo decided his car out of parc ferme after qualy to put a full wet setup on it . I think Kimi fancied himself for podium if the race had started and that's why he looked both bored and annoyed that the race didn't properly start . Hopefully the rules are change so we don't the kind of farce we saw in Spa so drivers actually have to do some racing under green conditions as a requirement to score points

F1 should make this a regular occurrence, they used to do this thing a long time ago where they would have the pole sitter react and break down his lap

What Russell said about "being in the zone", it's called "Flow State", a state you enter when you're 100% focused on the moment, and your brain can catch details and act upon them literally without thinking, it's pure instinct. I used to induce Flow State in myself with specific songs in my college days to study better, and now and then when I'm composing, and I tell you, works like a charm, you get so much done in much less time.
Step-by-step, from 2 seconds deficit to others to entering in Q2 and now in P2, it didn’t just show how much George has contributed to the team, but also the effort all people in Williams put in, just glad to see such turnaround!!
Whatever factors aligned, car setup, track evolution etc., this is one of the all-time great qualy laps in _F1!_ Putting that _FW43B_ on provisional pole is simply _otherworldly!_ What a lap and what a driver!
Every time I see this a few happy tears fall out and I can't fully believe this happened or get over it. We know now that he knew about his promotion before this race, which probably helped his confidence some...but to see him just out-qualify most of the grid in the 17th fastest car on the grid is just...wild and amazing and outstanding!
honestly it just made me so happy he pulled it off. everything went just right for him to achieve that lap in that car. We will see him on the podium more often very soon
I have to completely agree seeing as therr is 2 chances 1 that he could be moving to Mercedes 2 that the Williams could make a come back in later years either way he's a great driver shame he doesn't have the car to back him up

Hamilton is better than both in the rain btw. Even now at 37. Williams just went full wet mode set up wise, something that rb and merc didnt do.
