I'm Italian American and when my nonna died she had a box of family recipes. We had trouble using them though because some of the instructions were "fill the blue bowl with tomato sauce" and we have no idea what the blue bowl is. 😂
You can find these sandwiches in just about any metro area in the Northeastern US with a large Italian-American population. Add to this list the Veal Parm, the Meatball and Peppers, plus the Sausage and Peppers.
@@mattbarba3993It’s the brine that olives left in to cure. It’s different from pickle juice, which is typically what cucumbers are put into to cure - pickle juice is a lot more sour than olive juice.
The two guys on the end as well as having this channel (Jolly = Josh & Olly) have a channel called the Korean Englishman. Josh (on the left) is friends with a college headmaster and after a year of introducing Korean culture to the students, their time together culminated in the Korean Englishman team flying some of the graduating senior class to Korea for 2 weeks the day after their finals, its well worth watching them introduce Korean culture and food to different people in the U.K.
I can't see that pickleback tasting good. Pickle or pickle juice with vodka on the other hand is pretty common in Eastern Europe and Russia. I went to college not too far from Philly, and this one guy from Russia was visiting a friend, and he just showed up to a party with a bottle of Smirnoff and a jar of pickles haha it was the most Russian thing ever. It works pretty well!
Although Philly cheesesteak is an iconic American food, keep in mind that it's very much an East Coast thing. We don't eat Philly cheesesteak on the West Coast. American food is extremely regional, like foods in most countries. In my entire life I have never had a friend suggest that we go out for Philly cheese steak. Out west we prefer various Asian foods. Nothing beats Chinese food in San Francisco. The other food we love is Mexican food here in California. We also have amazing burgers and fries along the west coast.... And Pacific Northwest salmon add crab is unsurpassed.
@@user-wr9ej6xe4jI actually had a Philly Cheesesteak once and man.... It felt like I went to heaven and stayed there. But the problem is that I don't know if that place is still open here in the West Coast. My only bone I'm picking on is the Westernized Chinese food. My Chinese mom can make a proper Chinese meal.
I'm 64 years old and raised on the east coast and I have eaten a lot of Philly cheese steaks but never had one with cheese whiz; that would ruin it for me. Always had provolone and sometimes combined with american white cheese; onions and chopped green peppers; sometimes with red peppers or both; sometimes mayo. I would pass on the pickle juice. I wonder how much they charge for the pickle juice; good way to get rid of it I suppose. lol
Daz. As you know, the key is shaved ribeye. I’ve found you can achieve very close with shaved roast beef from your local market. Peppers and onions and Provolone. Forget that Cheese Whiz.
I'm actually abigger fan of the cheesesteak with provolone...only if the provolone is mixed into the meat as they did it here. My go-to is a cheesesteak w/ fried onions, provolone, and (don't judge me😂) mayonnaise on the bun. The Roman Pantry in Carney's Point, South Jersey makes the best cheesesteaks (IMO).
Let's be careful here. To "whiz" (or "take a whiz") has nothing to do with cheese or steak and more to do with a need that comes after drinking that giant pitcher of beer. Given the variety of sandwiches, they should have completed the list with a meatball sub (hoagie).
Not a Philly cheesesteak, too many substitutions to be authentic and that bread looked offensive. If you put peppers or anything else on it, it's not a Philly cheesesteak.
Calm down. I guarantee his bechamel cheese sauce tastes 1000x better than horrible cheesewizz. I can't believe it's even a thing. Who would put cheesewhiz on a perfectly good steak? Just the weirdos in Philly. They probably serve ketchup at the steakhouse as well.
Good on the UK for not allowing cheese whiz from America. We have way too many chemicals in most of our food. We thank Trump for including JFK into his cabinet to make Americans aware of this and make this country healthy again.
A dirty martini is made with olive juice brine which includes vinegar
Dirty Martini is olive juice
The name of the pub in this video…..Passyunk Avenue is a famous street in South Philadelphia….and South Philly is the home of the Philly Cheesesteak.
💯
In the US I've only seen olive brine used in a Dirty Martini. No pickle juice. Will have to try it.
Daz is spot on! Peppers & onions are a must 👏

The Seinfeld TH-cam page has a bunch of clips now of Seinfeld to react to. I’d love to see more Seinfeld reactions from you guys.!🎉
Wonderful video reaction. 🎉😎🇬🇧
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❄️
Hi Gaynor; A dirty Martini is made with olive juice, never pickle (that I am aware of anyway). Best to you a yours.
Although it's called olive juice it's not. It's the vinegar that the olives are marinated in.

Olive brine. Yummy
Me missus' boyfriend loves a good Philadelphia Cheese Steak. No peppers he tells me.
“I could only find the jarred garlic.”
“… well we had LOADS of the fresh garlic.” 😂😂😂
Those sandwiches look delicious! 😋
The Italian hoagie was the best item on this video. I grew up in Pennsylvania eating them.

Daz and Aiden need to Lady and the Tramp a Philly next time they eat some 😂
A small bit of advice: slice the meat when it's halfway thawed. Makes the bestest and most amazing thin slices of meat ever.
A dirty martini is made with olive juice, not pickle juice!!!so wrong!!!
Olive Juice for a Martini.
Not pickle juice. 😂
It's not actually olive juice in martinis... It's the vinegar that the olives are marinated in.
@@mattbarba3993Right - olive juice, as opposed to pickle juice, which is cucumber.

So proud of you for feeling So proud of your cheesesteak sandwich!!! Love from ALABAMA!!!
I've never heard of a pickle back with bourbon, maybe a Northern thing, but on Texas we do a pickle back with Jameson Irish whiskey
Sony pictures entertainment India has all kind of Seinfeld clips now to react to Daz n Gayna
Lets see, not the same cheese, not the same bread, probably not the same meat. Not the same.
He tried and that's what counts.
Pickle juice is a great hangover cure, i wonder if thats why they serve picklebacks
I saw it was to act as a palate cleanser. Though pickled ginger does the trick in sushi culture.
@AC-ni4gt you could be right actually, I was just thinking out loud but palate cleanser makes sense

I agree; definitely forget the Cheese Whiz.
Have the roast beef shaved at the market, chop it up cook on a griddle, add peppers and onions. Voila

It’s been a while since I’ve had a cheesesteak and I live in Philly. :)).
Philly cheese just has to have grilled peppers and onions. They’re best when they still have a subtle crunch to them.
No peppers, only onions on a cheesesteak. Either wit or witout.

Passayunk ave is where the cheese steak was invented
Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) is a great beer. Seeing those cups and giant pitcher made me smile.
☘️American in. Provo on the sides. And wiz on top.
Cardiac heaven
Giants and Devils. All y’all walked the Philly flav revoked line.
You don't have to choose between a cheese steak and a hoagie. Just have a cheese steak sub.
I think we say that in America because of how culturally diverse we are.
I like Tabasco on mine.
I WAS HOPING YOU'D SEE THIS.
Tickel the pickel is tequila and pickel juice. And has been for 40 years. I don't know what the fuck that was supposed to be.

Way too much cheese whiz. You wouldn't even be able to taste anything else lol
There is no such thing as too much cheese or too much steak.
Everyone in Philadelphia take notice some dope in England is saying what makes your sandwich
The owner is from Philly.
Am I missing something here? Why the hell is this channel just taking Jollys TH-cam videos and reviewing them? Wtf is wrong with y'all?
Yes, you're missing the concept of a reaction channel.
