I recently discovered your channel, and I regret not finding you sooner...I am in my mid-50s now, and I grew up with hardware, working in studios in the late '80s and '90s. I am now seeing the comeback of amazing hardware, which you explain so well...I can honestly say that the humanity with which you talk and the place of kindness, humility and warmth from which that comes is second to none...Thank you to you and Candace for the work you put into your honest and gentle content...You have found yourself a new Patreon member...Take good care...
Thank you so much for your kind words. I have been into ups and downs doing what im doing, most of the time asking myself is this has any value. Reading a comment like yours not only put a smile on my face, but make me feel connected and energized. Thanks for finding the time of reaching out to us!
AH+FX is one of those devices you really "get it" when you buy one. I already had done loads of research before I decided to buy one and still I was hugely surprised of all the possibilities it offered to me. I now use it for many things: recording other gear (especially drummachines, it's so, so good for drums, but also for any synth really), spicing up VST's (via Overbridge), using is as a live mastering unit as well as using it as a mastering unit in DAW (again via Overbridge). Many of the effects in it also have secondary feature possibilities, like you can use the Compressor just as a gain, the Bits can be used as a DJ-filter, you can add serial saturation or use it as the sole saturator with using the Dirt in the filter even when not actually filtering anything and so on, plenty of tricks like that. You can also build unique effects when using envelope follower and LFOs to control the wet/dry of different FX modules and so on. Not the cheapest unit out there, but if you find as much use for it as I have, it's pretty easily worth the price tag.
Very helpful video! I also wanted to say I purchased "Shape + Memory" from Bandcamp this week, and it sounds fantastic. Love the texture, energy, and depth.
I have a very similar setup, but instead of the Push 3, I use an Octatrack. It’s been a while since the S-4 came out now, and definitely a staple of my setup!
I just got the Heat +fx and I’m already loving it. I’m using it mostly as an end of chain for my Octatrack + syntakt and 303+blofeld live setup and I’m absolutely loving it as a master effect unit. The compressor and the Enchance mode sounds amazing and the warble is surprisingly usable. I’m excited to try it out as a pedal board replacement for my poly synths when I play with a live band.
@@OoraMusicplease do! I love the downtown tempo mysterious sound of the piece so far. It reminds me of a gentle woodwind instrument snaking its way through reality. A lovely set of patches that compliment each very well. 💙
I think the AH biggest limitation is that you often want it, on different settings, on every track. To relegate it to mastering is like using a single tool out of a huge toolbox. What makes a difference is using the AH with a DAW that is great at bouncing in place. Bitwig is fantastic at allowing you to quickly use the AH, record it, then move it to another track.
Great demo, as always! As it also seems to work nicely with Overbridge it's probably also a great studio tool. I see a grand going away from my bank account...:-)
I bought the AH+FX as a piece of mastering hardware I could have the ability to save presets with to recall later easier. The fact I can also take this unit out live and perform with it is awesome. And then I also have my prophet 5 hooked up to it as an audio interface if I need to, and overbridge for using it as simply as a plugin. There’s nothing like it. My only gripe, I kinda wish there was a bit more VU and visual feedback and measurements going on with the unit, but there’s a bit more info when using overbridge to get around that
I agree with all you said. I feel in future firmware Elektron could improve on the metering to allow a more surgical mastering use. Will talk to them about that!
Sincere reply : this is my job, so unfortunately no. But if you would look closely and listen to my productions, you will see that I focus on few elements since years. So please understand that to make a living with this is extremely hard ( I left a career in photography that was 6x more remunerative ), I can only promise to you is that I will only demo and put my face on things that I love. You will never see me reviewing hype stuff just for the sake of it. I hope during the year to proved that I am actually trying to make music, not demos. But ,I hear you, and in my heart I would love to just focus on the few things I keep using, sadly it would be the death of this channel.
@OoraMusic you think that channel centered in electronic music production needs to show new gear every week in order to survive? You surely know better about this than us. But let me tell you I enjoy a lot the more philosophical and production workflow and techniques centered content from you.
I think you have two ways. One could be the ezbot way, focus solely on few tools ( elektron machines for example) the other is keeping content more various and fresh. First one is great if you don't have to generate income through affiliate links and brand collab. Please note this: I have a total of around 90k followers between all platforms; of them ,only 170 decided to offer me as little as 1$ month . If every person that enjoy my content would pay 50cents per month, that would grant me a great living and I could really concentrate less on gear. But 99% of people think TH-cam videos are free, they feel entitled in criticizing the creator choices to stay afloat in a killing market and would never ever consider support whoever entertain them.
@@iamjamessmith As someone who has been in the process of building my own studio over the last 18 months, I have appreciated the opportunity to compare and contrast the gear that @OoraMusic curates for his viewers. One of the lessons I've learned from watching is that no matter the gear, the person behind it is what makes the artist's sound.
The +Fx is pretty good but my only issue is it adds lots of noise on the high frequencies and I find it's better only to use the envelop threshold to add distortion for clean mixes.
Hi @OoraMusic, awesome video on the EAH + FX props for that! But in the video to your right side on top of your MacBook, I spotted the Torso S4, as I still have to wait a bit for mine and so far no one has made a video about it, how about you? I would be happy to see a video that illustrates a bit more practical use. So far, there are only videos from Torso itself. I would highly appreciate it 😅✌️
Trying to avoid anymore small box’s , going to hold off the G.A.S until I’ve saved enough for the overstayer modular chanel… then just let it rip! 😂 Watching this probably isn’t helping with that plan 🤦🏻 Still nice to hear it with a decent loop 👍
Quick question, since this came out yesterday this doesn’t include the update that just came out as well does it? I could only imagine that would be possible if they gave you access to the new update early. Just curious since I just got my AHFX yesterday as well!
I'm so close to pulling the trigger. I really wish I could have the Modular Channel... but that would be ridiculous for my situation. I'll be lucky to have the Heat+ FX. Thanks for the vid!
today I ve just came accros the P.A. term from A.R. MK2 manual. Few hours later I hear it again from you... What does it mean? suppose processing a.... Like a mixer...?
I appreciate you sir! Are you still liking the AH in your live setup? I’m in the market for a high quality end-of-chain filter and effects for song transitions.
Off topic, but… Mio fratello! Tu governi, Oora. Continua così, ahah!

One of the most musical demos of the AHFX. Great work!
thanks!!

yes I need to try it with octa and 303, im sure gonna be epic
As always, this is an inspiring but practical demo enabling the user to unleash the FX on their sounds. Thanks.
my pleasure
Loved what was hidden in the AH+ that I ended up getting 2! Has replaced a huge amount of outboard gear
Same here!
I’m legitimately considering using one of these as a mastering device for live sound on my system.
it is great for that
Loved the little jam in the beginning!
thanks! will probably make it a track soon

Enjoy it

ahah I know we are doomed!! :)
really pretty piece also i like the improvising youve been doing on the contoller it really adds more you. jam on!
Thanks for listening
To compare the on and off sound it would be good to hear it at the same volume
or not . I am a little tired of these scientific approach. do what make you feel good, that is the key. Lets break rules and have fun :D

Nice Intro Track Dude!
Thanks!
You resonate with very smooth Gear.
I agree with you, I love smooth sounds
These new headphones Oora Edition looks nice ! 🤩
haha yes the tiewraps
ahhahahahahahha TRENDSETTING

I am beta testing it , more videos will come as soon as the firmware is in an advanced beta state.
Maybe make a Album from your intro jams one day? Great work=)
Seems like effect order can drastically change things, like switching FM algos on a synth.
very well said, that is the fun of this thing!

One of the best AH+fx demos I saw really.
Is there any chance you would share some ah presets of yours with patreons? :)
sure! will do it in a few days

I had already upgraded to latest firmware, which added few small changes, I didn't really covered them in the video.
Would you say the heat+fx is worth it? Also, what other pedal/device would you recommend as an end of chain master?
i think is a great end of chain for sure. others i would consider is oto boum
how did you manage to break your LCD-5? I have the same, and they are pretty solid! :D
I use and abuse them every day :D
Snazzy product placement at the top left there @OoraMusic hehehe😎
ahaha what can you do..
I'm so close to pulling the trigger. I really wish I could have the Modular Channel... but that would be ridiculous for my situation. I'll be lucky to have the Heat+ FX. Thanks for the vid!
I feel the AH will cover most of your needs!
How does this compare to the S4 as an end of chain box? And is your Push 3 standalone?
push 3 is standalone , the s4 is not meant to be a "mastering" tool, but rather a creative [erformance box. It works really good before AH.
Is it possible to have the analog filter go before the digital fx ?
yes
@@OoraMusic thx!
today I ve just came accros the P.A. term from A.R. MK2 manual. Few hours later I hear it again from you... What does it mean? suppose processing a.... Like a mixer...?
yes, it would be the sound system tr the front of house mixer.
I appreciate you sir! Are you still liking the AH in your live setup? I’m in the market for a high quality end-of-chain filter and effects for song transitions.
Yes I am! Is a great one
does it offer sidechain compression for ducking?
yes, you have an envelope follower configurable for that!
What’s the best dawless mastering device as per your experience so far?
I think the AH and the OTO are the one I'd get
Got it, thanks!
hey bud, can this be used with the model 1?
of course, works great on the main out!

Mastering with 4:1 ratio? Usually these are things you do in the mix
Reverb/delay in the end of mastering chain ? Why ?))
high-pass them and they sound fine, not that you’d do this for music mastering, for live performance it can be fun
every choice has value if made it intentionally. try it out :)
That’s some good hot knobin’
:)
I had this at one point. I found that I had everything this can do in my DAW and saved $1,000. It’s cool but not that cool
fair enough :D
