I Got Every Checkbox In Kirby Air Ride City Trial

- Kirby Air Ride is one of my favorite childhood games, thanks mostly to the best game mode, City Trial. I decided I would try to obtain every achievement or checkbox in this game mode on stream, and slowly realized how big a task this was.

Trying to get stomped on by dyna blade as a kid was a frustrating, evil experience. I spent hours failing to get it.

Amen to that. I finally gave up and used one of my purple boxes on that one.
PRO TIPS:
- Always set your timer to 7 minutes instead of 5. More time in the City means more time to achieve stuff.
- The chances for obtaining Hydra and Dragoon parts from red boxes is different for each part of the City. Places with high chances include the caves beneath the forest and volcano, anywhere on the plains, and the beaches around the castle.
- If you're having trouble with a specific event mission, you can change the settings to only play that event and minmax your character for it.
- Wagon Star is absolutely busted.
- Best place to be in Kirby Melee 2 is up top where the mushrooms are.
For a long time I never used the wagon star because it can’t charge or glide, like a kid who goes through a game of Pokémon without clicking a non-damaging move.
Also, the cave beneath the forest and the hidden one from the volcano tunnel don’t just have a high chance of having machine parts - every red box that spawns there is guaranteed to have one
just gonna reply with some of my own tip
-Red boxes that have legendary parts are unaffected by events, for example the box won't spin during the same item event
-the red boxes that have the legendary parts will be guarantied anywhere in the pink area, and have a chance to show up on the beaches, electric lounge, green canvas and inside the volcano
-for destruction derby checkmarks, use shadow star, it has the highest base offensive stat and u can what stars the ai will ride
-hp up can never be fake during the fake items event
-checkboxes the require all players to do a certain thing can be done with just 2 people
- The UFO Event is extremely good to get; it's the only source that guarantees the coveted All Patch.
- The "Bust X while riding Y" missions are probably best done in 2-player, too: Air Ride machines have a habit of rocketing to the sky if left unattended.
Typically, boxes can only spawn in specific areas of the map. The red boxes containing legendary pieces don’t have this restriction, so they can spawn anywhere. This is why red boxes in the volcano, pink area, etc are guaranteed to be legendary pieces.
I am so happy to see somebody recognizing this game's existence. It's so good and nobody talks about it.

Watching this brings back so many memories. My sibling and I would play this game all day together. We were able to clear the 120 blocks with the help of some of the "unlock blocks." It is easier when you have two players. X3

We would play with the Pink Kirby as an NPC, and gave it the name "Sam" And we...were very mean to Sam...
The both of us claimed a Legendary Star. They had Dragoon, while I had Hydra. If we ever found one of the other's parts, we'd shout that out "HEY!"
Omg me and my brother did that too! I had hydra and he had dragoon tho sometimes he would use it to smash all my vehicles 😅
I love these "wall of achievements" challenges. I particularly loved it in Smash 4. My ex and I got through nearly the entire wall together... everything but like 2 or 3 of the hardest ones. But then my Wii U bricked itself when updating to the latest OS version, and it's all gone... ;(
If you haven't thrown it out yet, look up the recent fix found for bricked Wii Us. It might help.
@@calvinanderson4245 I'd love to... but which fix, for which type of bricked? I got error 162-4065 while downloading the update, then tried again, and it crashed during update at 98%. Afterward, it won't boot. It turns on the power LED and fan, resets the optical drive, and then does nothing. The screen/controller unit can't even detect it.

Fun fact: if you collect enough glide patches with the wheelie scooter, you will slowdown immensely in the air and slowly move up and backwards.
I cant believe in a few months it's going to be 20 years since this game came out.
I remember how heartbroken I was when my disk stopped working properly, and I had to stop playing until I could get a new copy.
I also remember actually completing a 99 lap races a lot...

One of my favorite games as a kid!! City Trial was crazy!! The events were so awesome. So disappointed they never followed up on this concept.
If anybody else is interested I suggest looking at the hack pack, it allows you to customize city trial a lot and let you go overtime as long as you want

I miss this game so much. It would be amazing if someone made a mod for it that allowed more than 4 people to play at once, multiple minigames at the end of city trials, and possibly different maps. I think that would be extremely fun

Hydra tends to always do that with any amount of hp upgrades due to how insane it is.
I love Kirby Air Ride. One time I was at a convention and they had a little game room and I spent literally the entire convention time playing Kirby Air Ride in the game room

Playing City Trial over at my friend's house are some of my fondest childhood memories. I remember borrowing his memory card after he unlocked the Dragoon and the Hydra, and my stupid ass managed to delete his save-file.

Edges of the map and underground have a higher chance, when an event happens a piece is usually in play. the above ground city, forest and volcano do not spawn pieces. The 3 tier garage has a high box spawn rate so it’s always a good place to check. The secret paths under ground are always a great place to scan through. Other than that just don’t over look the under the city and check the shores as often as possible
I really didn't know how this worked before so I just thought it was a regular racing game but Kirby themed, this seems so much cooler!!

Absolutely one of my favorite games of all time, and one that absolutely needs a remake or sequel.
Also, with the Dragoon and Hydra pieces, the red boxes that spawn them will ONLY spawn in those places if they have Dragoon or Hydra pieces. These places include on top of the water-wheel area, inside the volcano, under Wispy Woods, on the second floor of the four floor whatever the heck those floating platforms are near the station, down by the ocean by that one station just north of the four floating platform thing, the sky garden, and a bunch more that I don’t quite remember off the top of my head since it’s been YEARS.

This video is such nostalgia. I played this so much as a kid. Me and my friends would spend hours in free ride just playing with all the different vehicles. I remember we tried competing all the goals but only made it to around 100 completed.
This game was my childhood,I only had a GameCube till I was 13 and I still never get tired of it.

Getting the Hydra on Drag Race was one of the most powerful feelings I ever had in my childhood.
this is one of my absolute favorite games and i played it by myself so often i had it down to a science. i got so efficient at it that eventually i could play a game of city trial and about 50% of the time id end up with either hydra or dragoon. id spend hours in the free trial mode roleplaying with my brother and pretending we were at school or something, id give all the different colored kirbys different voices... a battle royale on the switch is my dream game
i love using the rex wheely and making it able to glide (even thought it shouldn't be allowed to fly XD)

This video reminds me of the time I was playing Air Ride with a friend, specifically Free Run in City Trial just for fun. Inspiration struck, and so I systematically took each and every vehicle from the underground garage, one by one, and stashed them up on the island in the sky, crashing into my friend's vehicles and destroying them as needed. When I was done, I recovered my chosen vehicle from a hiding spot and thus he was left without a single vehicle to ride, since you can't get up to the sky island without a vehicle!
There's not exactly a victory condition in Free Run, but I felt I had won nonetheless.

For the everyone achievements, you can reduce the player count to 2.

Something you may not know! When charging up stars like the Hydra, if you rotate your control stick it charges faster! Just be careful not to press down too long in areas that you can hop off, else you will. It more than doubles the speed if you can do it quick enough!
I remember demolishing the Dedede battle with the basic Warp Star, or possibly compact star, since most of them go too fast and zoom straight through Dedede, but those two go slow enough to keep pace with Dedede during your spin so I would get most of the hits in all at once.

Love City Trial! Never played Air Ride as a kid cause I never had a game cube but I love seeing content on it, looking forward to more!

I was never able to do this as a kid. Of course I didn’t have access to the internet or any way to figure out how to get them all. But I gave it my best shot. I loved this game as a whole and I’ve always wished it could’ve been brought back in a remaster.

Ever since this game, 120 has always been the number of the main collectables, unless squeak squad came out after this game and doesn’t have 120 chests, and ignoring star allies
It is actually possible to complete all drag race challenges without legendaries or stat boosts. Some of them though require extremely specific movement tech, rng, and in one case getting the wheel copy ability to gain extra speed.

I remember trying to go for them all myself, i cant remember exactly how many i got but kirby air ride was so much fun to play. I know theres specific areas in which the hydra (i think its called the hydra) snd dragoon spawn, so id always check those after a couple minutes

SKURRYYYYY PLAYING KIRBY AIR RIDE I'M ASCENDING
Ok 1:09 there are actually ways you can tell if a red box has a legendary part in it or not.
First of all, those never disappear. If you're unsure if a red box has one, just crack it without fully breaking it. Come back to that spot later, and if it's still there, you got yourself a legendary piece. If it disappeared, it was an ability.
Second, is that legendary-part red boxes only spawn in certain parts of the map, like Green Canvas, that hill with the wheel, or the caves underneath the forest/volcano. If a red box is there, you can guarantee it's a legendary part.
2:12 Sword ability is my personal go-to for Melee 1.
2:35 ish: the Sky Garden (as I like to call it) is that glass-and-gold platform you were yeeted to from that ice cave under the volcano (I might timestamp later)
2:40 the maximum for every stat except for HP is 18, while HP maxes out at 16.

Man do I love this mode. Too bad the ending was so deflating. A random even that could take into account your build, or just not at all. If it had like 3 or more challenges at the end, testing different abilities, it would've made for a better ending.

The tac box is what you save the freebies for. Like I get it's for the content. But having to reset constantly to wait for rng is a justifiable reason to use it.
The fastest star in Drag is two Rocket Stars Drafting, it will leave Hydra in the dust, FREE
