@@AxeMain an aggressive 50/50 character, she’s very unsafe if you guess right that’s why she’s known as a gamblers character. Not to say you can’t play her more slow and defensive, I’ve seen many Anna’s like that.

Difficult? I don't see difficult character here... I see a character with power of Mishimas and evasiveness and mixup potential of Lei. It's not difficult. It's actually easy.
I agree 👍, I see a lot of player never using Mishima's style but only with the new things she has (beginner ofc) but still they're doing great, and I, as a Mishima player, learn from their setup. Very very interesting to see how everyone is getting along with her. What a time to be a Tekken player 💪.
"Watch it again" is honestly good advice, haha. The second time you watch it you'll pick up things you missed the first time and you'll digest it easier after having sat with the information for a bit

great guide. however, something you- and few other videos i've seen- haven't mentioned, is something i discovered by accident. she might not be able to electric from her df3 wavedash shortcut, but she can electric just fine from any move that transitions into a wavedash with df. So heaven's wrath, unsoku, her (i think it's) u1+2 flip, and most importantly, wind step. Still requires a perfect df+2 of course the wind step (f, n) one is particularly good because it means you can do a slightly quicker input variation of the EWGF by just doing f n df+2, skipping the down input entirely. also, and i'm yet to test if this is practically useful, but i did notice her safe-ish Sin Smiter mid (b 2), and her Eisaimon low (db 2) have very similar startup animations, and could be a useful mixup on conditioned opponents
This is my first Tekken game I've put more than a couple hours into casually, and Reina is my first Mishima. I've been doing f n df2 for my electrics. I just figured that's how all mishimas worked lmao

Once you master all the moves that can transition into HW stance with frame advantage you can get a cheeky CH 1 into PEWGF if you have the execution that makes her even more intimidating
Its criminal bandai don't pay for the production of these videos to launch with the game, they are so much better than the personality-less character trailers they put out where everyone does a canned combo into a heat smash into rage art and all characters look identical. Here you actually get to see some nuances, the flavour the character brings and its target audience.

You have alot of options and I think she can be really broken in the hands of a pro but since we all want new players to join, learn and love Tekken like we do. we should appreciate how much the devs put into her. I think you didnt emphasize the throws from stances enough. after trying her out and realizing that all her lows are kinda trash, I simply dont duck at all against a reina. didnt fail me till now (Destroyer), beaten every single reina i faced. but if they would start mixing in unbreakable throws instead of throwing mids all day (which ill never duck), maybe that would help them.
i heard som epoeple call her "lidia mishima" because of the stance chaining. if someone agrees plese tell me because i see reina as the one very hard char i want to pickup. i main steve and hwo, but maining steve for too long on t7 hurt my ability to enjoy the game because personallly I wasnt up to the ability required to handle steve well

no gonna lie reina is the reason I am going to try and learn tekken 8, she looks so badass and her personality just rocks that badass nature so well. PEWGF isn't something you desperatly need to master Reina, like Kazuya in Tekken 7, Electrics are still worth mastering, just not the PEWGF, it is not that worth it imo.

@artsq1550 I assumed people would understand nuisance when saying this. But I guess not. If I wanna stomp trash players with flow charts, then sure she can seem like spammy cringe easy. If you wanna actually play the character to relatively high potential, then you need to juggle 4 stances with their cross contamination, mix in spacing, neutral moves to go into stances, and the the 2 separate electrics to execute. If you think she's anywhere near the easiest then you are smoking
@TheBigEmstos but no it's not. It is literally succeed or die type low. The first and both seconds hits are launch punishable. For hitting the second hit on counter hit you launch. But for hitting the high you get to go into stance. While the stance is good, you need way more effort and danger to apply damage on that low. It's arguably a necessity to put some fear to duck. But she doesn't have a good low. Every low she has is more risk than the reward.
I was bummed about losing Heihachi and I was coming into Tekken 8 hoping she would play exactly the same, but the more I learn about her new tools the more I excited I am about Reina. She has just enough of Heihachi's gameplay and personality and she brings so much interesting stuff to the table.
She has a pretty scary wall game. Heihachi's f+4 into df+1,2. Unbreakable grab from Heaven's wrath deals massive damage if it hits the wall, and ws+3 (which has an easymode iws input by df+3) is a hit-confirmable wall splat, albeit ws3 on its own is -10 ob. db+4,2 is also a hit confirmable on counter hit (makes a distinctive noise on ch) and wall splats. Also her 3+4 has a weird interaction during a wall combo if only one of the two hits land (you achieve this by sidewalking prior to 3+4), allowing you to crouch cancel into heaven's stance and get the full 4,2,2,1+2 from it, although I feel like this is a bug and will be fixed eventually. Also I feel like there's potential in her sentai grab at certain wall angles; I've gotten few back launches if the opponent tried to stand up. Given her shitty lows, I think it's worth going into heat way earlier than you would on other characters to get that chip damage. The parry from heaven stance is scary, although susceptible to hop kicks and knees/elbows so not something you can spam willy-nilly.

I really struggled with “stance” characters in Tekken7 , but Reina seems so cool I want to put the effort in to lab and get used to stances and how to use them. When I first got into tekken 7 this was one of the first channels I found for guides and its still my go to. Thank you
I've been practicing Reina since Tekken 8 was released - first Tekken game, too! - and things are starting to click but this guide is going to help me so much. Especially with the visual demonstrations of tying her stances into her combos and explaining their weaknesses/risks. I'm really excited to practice her more tonight. :)
Better start practicing your electrics man. Give it around 2 to 3 days of 10-15 minutes of just solid practice and you'll get it down to your muscle memory. Don't listen to the scrubs saying it's hard. I'd say an instant while running is harder and that's easy as balls.
Have fun while you practice, and don't get discouraged. If you want to main her, that is okay even if she's a bit tricky. Playing someone you like over someone easy is the best long-term strategy imo
2-3 days of 10-15 minutes is nowhere near enough time. That may be enough to get a few electrics out but consistent electrics won’t happen for weeks or months. I practiced about once or more times a week for about 30mins or more and I’d say I was confident with electrics after 2 months. Also very important to note that you should practice both sides and electrics out of different movement options like dash, backdash, wavedash, multiple wavedashes, etc.
I'd argue electrics isn't something a complete beginner to tekken should worry about, instead, get the basics down, learn when and how to sidestep pressure, how to kbd and wavedash, bnbs, learn your launchers, then go for electrics@@BiggestChungus21
She has an issue where she game doesnt register the QCF input when you are more than 2 character lengths away. It just stops the second wavedash motion from coming out, making it impossible to wavedash wavedash wavedash electric from distance. You can go into practice and test right now. Move her to the complete opposite end of the screen and try to wavedash in, then do the same with Kazuya or Djin. They can do it fine, she cannot.
I thought I was crazy at first when I noticed this and there was NO mention of it in any guides, character overviews, etc. Had a few "Wait, my inputs aren't THAT sloppy" moments in ranked when trying to wavedash back in after ending a combo with WRA > df > 4,1 before deciding to test in practice mode. Super easy to reproduce, so hopefully they wind up fixing this pretty quick. So far it hasn't hurt my gameplay all that much, outside of a few instances where I've tried to wavedash after making space and promptly stutter stepped like an idiot right into a full launch since I was too far away.

Its not a huge thing, but it definitely makes her movement and especially applying pressure for oki annoyingly inconsistent compared to the other Mishimas. I hope someone will bring it up to the devs/namco. It shouldn't be that way.
2:00 I'd like to point out the damage difference from the - Hardest Input - EWGF: 23 Medium Input - WGF: 20 Novice/Button* Input (df3) - WGF: 15 And Lastly - Fuck I forgot to let go for *Neutral* while trying to EWGF Input (df4) - Launcher: 13 Like someone pointed out, her stances or short strings that can be cancelled with a wavedash can be utilized for EWGF with max damage -- I just want to make it known that while there is an easy way into the wavedash stance, her damage can be drastically increased or decreased based on input method (which I think is dope). This opens up the character's accessibility, while still holding a very high skill ceiling. I fucking love this character if you can't tell. Nothing biased about this.

When reina was revealed i liked her. Now after playing against countless brainless reina players i hate her and i ki charge every time i destroy a reina player. Reina and victor are pathetic. And reina and victor mains have plugged on my promotion match far too many times. They can't take the beating i give them.
Benten is the name of a Shinto goddess. She's got a ton of moves named after Japanese mythology. The move you should actually be laughing at is Jewel Snatcher. 11:03
I think a big part of her appeal in terms of gameplay is that she is good in both low ranks and high ranks but for different reasons. At low ranks, she has many knowledge checks that are easy to execute and net you easy wins, but they stop working around the mid ranks. BUT! If you put enough work, her more difficult tools will give you great rewards in the higher ranks, which is something that many gimmick characters don't have. She is a character that you can grow with from a beginner to an expert.
I'm glad we got a TRUE Female Mishima. She even has an electric God kick. Now we need a Electric God throw or Knee. Come on Harada! Reina is pretty damn interesting. Being a Mishima main myself, she's someone I really want to try out.
Also worth mentioning that just like Kazuya, Reina has a perfect electric with f, n, df + 2! And just like Kaz, she has a frame perfect counterhit launcher from HW 1, wherein it's exactly 13 frames.

The forward parry, or d3 Unsoku parry, it's +10 but you recover in crouch dash and doesn't guarantee anything can't understand why since in the trailer she was doing cd14
Reina is more than just oppressive she has a personality and an appearance that can be tailored to be insane not to mention an incredible voice and moves that feel genuinely powerful. Granted...I am viewing this not because I'm not obsessed with the character...but because I want to elevate her...and more than just another reworked costume I want them to feel fear and wonder when this face this character as I have.
Thats a great video! I would add that if Reina Wind Steps into a grab, it makes that said grab unbreakable, because her Wind Step is a parry. You also said that "reinas combo dmg is way above average", but in my opinion its average at most. Sure we can just pick the highest dmg combo she can do, but since reina would need to rely to two ewgfs back to back as launcher, its not realistic to use that as the gauge for her combo dmg. If we go by her i15 launcher df2, her combo dmg i saw(and i watched a lot of different combos) is underwhelming in comparison to other chars i tried before her who did more combo dmg for a way less execution.

Reina is more Lidia / Kazumi archetype than Heihachi if you think about it Hei key features 1. Crazy mid and high pokes (112, df1 (-1 on block) 2. strong CH moves (Hei f3 alone makes Reina look like a joke) 3. risky but evasive lows (db2) 4. safe long range mid launcher (ff2) Basically you have to think when to press against hei, or u get 80 ch mid launcher Reina doesn’t have these things 1. 112 = bad range 2. df1 = -3 on block 3. lows have no high crush 4. she doesn’t have good ch hit game. All her ch are garbage compare to most chars in t8 5. she rely on electric to launch for big damage If you mash against Reina you get strong pokes, not ch launcher
Her 3+4 is totally underrated. It comes out at 18f, low crushes, huge range, and SAFE at -8. It can be extended with Manji-Geri (4 input) for a high crushing mid ch launcher and also unsafe at -14. But like all the moves with Manji-Geri, on heat it gains access to a safe extension (Lethal Fury) that has massive damage. Oh and did I mention all of the hits are natural combos? This also leaves her at crouching state if you don't commit to Manji-Geri so you can mixup or bait enemies into a launching full crouch df4 or a generic crouching d3 or d4. So yeah. I say it's a pretty dirty move. It tends to make me become lazy given how much brain dead this move is.
Weak lows my ass. Her low-low and low-mid mixup swipe with natural mid is one freaking low. Reina can do anything, basically. TBS, please tell me you're not covering Bamco's BS so that you can get access to insights and events in future!
IDK. Her kit is like 90% can be block. Rarely to almost none for Low-mixed combo. Her stances has to land a hit first to be connected to smoothly, even though, some stances still too slow and can be interrupted. Unless you do it in Tekken-style ... send them fly.
This guide is amazingly edited and very stylish but feels it's made more for people who already play Tekken and doesn't get into a lot of explaining on why/how things work. The electric dash was described as "doing it the ol' fashioned way" which for a beginner sends me to google and likely a different video. Stuff like that is all over. I get Salami wanted it to be digestible but it just makes another gate for new players I guess I gotta find a different beginners guide and come back here when I just have a better understand
I desperately want to play Reina, but I can't do Mishima stuff to save my life. More than a month of practice has resulted in 40 Electrics, all of them accident, and wave dashing is completely out of the question. She's so damn cool, though.
I haven't really played too much of Reina yet. But she feels really fun to play and really shines in Tekken 8's more offense heavy framework. I'm going to miss the old Mishima patriarch, especially since I only really started playing him in 7, but Reina is a solid replacement.
Jin been my main character for decades since T3. It was time to learn a new Mishima character. Reina was just the character I need, a female Mishima character.
If her visual design would be better than "another cute girl" i wouldnt have to think who to main in T8. I feel like they missed an oportunity with the first female Mishima to break out of their boring female design and create a female character thats not a cute doll like the entire cast. Giving their muscle flex system, where characters can flex their muscles in their animations or moves and her play pretend attitude in the story she would be perfect to look like shes not very strong until she makes some moves, which suddenly flex her muscles showing that there is a powerhouse of strenght underneath her facade. As a heihachi main cute school girls are not really my cup o tea but her gameplay is.
I actually saw a post that dissed on the fact that people like you call Reina Advanced (which I believe she's around there for learning her). You have any thoughts as to why they would say this?

PEWGF isn't something you desperatly need to master Reina, like Kazuya in Tekken 7, Electrics are still worth mastering, just not the PEWGF, it is not that worth it imo.
This is my first Tekken game and I'm learning Reina as my main - it's tough, but it's fun as hell. Thanks for this video, having these moves laid out, shown, and explained helps a ton!

@artsq1550 I assumed people would understand nuisance when saying this. But I guess not. If I wanna stomp trash players with flow charts, then sure she can seem like spammy cringe easy. If you wanna actually play the character to relatively high potential, then you need to juggle 4 stances with their cross contamination, mix in spacing, neutral moves to go into stances, and the the 2 separate electrics to execute. If you think she's anywhere near the easiest then you are smoking

@TheBigEmstos but no it's not. It is literally succeed or die type low. The first and both seconds hits are launch punishable. For hitting the second hit on counter hit you launch. But for hitting the high you get to go into stance. While the stance is good, you need way more effort and danger to apply damage on that low. It's arguably a necessity to put some fear to duck. But she doesn't have a good low. Every low she has is more risk than the reward.
I was bummed about losing Heihachi and I was coming into Tekken 8 hoping she would play exactly the same, but the more I learn about her new tools the more I excited I am about Reina. She has just enough of Heihachi's gameplay and personality and she brings so much interesting stuff to the table.
We never lost Heihachi he just changed form...and to be honest I'm using his alternate form a lot more than his previous form.

She has a pretty scary wall game. Heihachi's f+4 into df+1,2. Unbreakable grab from Heaven's wrath deals massive damage if it hits the wall, and ws+3 (which has an easymode iws input by df+3) is a hit-confirmable wall splat, albeit ws3 on its own is -10 ob. db+4,2 is also a hit confirmable on counter hit (makes a distinctive noise on ch) and wall splats. Also her 3+4 has a weird interaction during a wall combo if only one of the two hits land (you achieve this by sidewalking prior to 3+4), allowing you to crouch cancel into heaven's stance and get the full 4,2,2,1+2 from it, although I feel like this is a bug and will be fixed eventually. Also I feel like there's potential in her sentai grab at certain wall angles; I've gotten few back launches if the opponent tried to stand up.
Given her shitty lows, I think it's worth going into heat way earlier than you would on other characters to get that chip damage. The parry from heaven stance is scary, although susceptible to hop kicks and knees/elbows so not something you can spam willy-nilly.

I really struggled with “stance” characters in Tekken7 , but Reina seems so cool I want to put the effort in to lab and get used to stances and how to use them. When I first got into tekken 7 this was one of the first channels I found for guides and its still my go to. Thank you

I've been practicing Reina since Tekken 8 was released - first Tekken game, too! - and things are starting to click but this guide is going to help me so much. Especially with the visual demonstrations of tying her stances into her combos and explaining their weaknesses/risks. I'm really excited to practice her more tonight. :)

Better start practicing your electrics man. Give it around 2 to 3 days of 10-15 minutes of just solid practice and you'll get it down to your muscle memory. Don't listen to the scrubs saying it's hard. I'd say an instant while running is harder and that's easy as balls.

Have fun while you practice, and don't get discouraged. If you want to main her, that is okay even if she's a bit tricky. Playing someone you like over someone easy is the best long-term strategy imo
2-3 days of 10-15 minutes is nowhere near enough time. That may be enough to get a few electrics out but consistent electrics won’t happen for weeks or months.
I practiced about once or more times a week for about 30mins or more and I’d say I was confident with electrics after 2 months.
Also very important to note that you should practice both sides and electrics out of different movement options like dash, backdash, wavedash, multiple wavedashes, etc.
I'd argue electrics isn't something a complete beginner to tekken should worry about, instead, get the basics down, learn when and how to sidestep pressure, how to kbd and wavedash, bnbs, learn your launchers, then go for electrics@@BiggestChungus21
She has an issue where she game doesnt register the QCF input when you are more than 2 character lengths away. It just stops the second wavedash motion from coming out, making it impossible to wavedash wavedash wavedash electric from distance. You can go into practice and test right now. Move her to the complete opposite end of the screen and try to wavedash in, then do the same with Kazuya or Djin. They can do it fine, she cannot.
I thought I was crazy at first when I noticed this and there was NO mention of it in any guides, character overviews, etc. Had a few "Wait, my inputs aren't THAT sloppy" moments in ranked when trying to wavedash back in after ending a combo with WRA > df > 4,1 before deciding to test in practice mode. Super easy to reproduce, so hopefully they wind up fixing this pretty quick.
So far it hasn't hurt my gameplay all that much, outside of a few instances where I've tried to wavedash after making space and promptly stutter stepped like an idiot right into a full launch since I was too far away.
@@illyrian94 Exactly! I'm really surprised no bigger streamer is noticing this. Its not a huge thing, but it definitely makes her movement and especially applying pressure for oki annoyingly inconsistent compared to the other Mishimas. I hope someone will bring it up to the devs/namco. It shouldn't be that way.

Like someone pointed out, her stances or short strings that can be cancelled with a wavedash can be utilized for EWGF with max damage -- I just want to make it known that while there is an easy way into the wavedash stance, her damage can be drastically increased or decreased based on input method (which I think is dope). This opens up the character's accessibility, while still holding a very high skill ceiling. I fucking love this character if you can't tell. Nothing biased about this.

When reina was revealed i liked her. Now after playing against countless brainless reina players i hate her and i ki charge every time i destroy a reina player. Reina and victor are pathetic. And reina and victor mains have plugged on my promotion match far too many times. They can't take the beating i give them.

I think a big part of her appeal in terms of gameplay is that she is good in both low ranks and high ranks but for different reasons.
At low ranks, she has many knowledge checks that are easy to execute and net you easy wins, but they stop working around the mid ranks.
BUT!
If you put enough work, her more difficult tools will give you great rewards in the higher ranks, which is something that many gimmick characters don't have.
She is a character that you can grow with from a beginner to an expert.

I'm glad we got a TRUE Female Mishima. She even has an electric God kick. Now we need a Electric God throw or Knee. Come on Harada! Reina is pretty damn interesting. Being a Mishima main myself, she's someone I really want to try out.

Also worth mentioning that just like Kazuya, Reina has a perfect electric with f, n, df + 2! And just like Kaz, she has a frame perfect counterhit launcher from HW 1, wherein it's exactly 13 frames.
Amazing, like always...just one small detail, Kazumi is also a mishima who got an easy DF2 launcher :D
She also got a flying tiger, so eh... I'd also like to point out that she's a married Mishima, not a born Mishima :D

The forward parry, or d3 Unsoku parry, it's +10 but you recover in crouch dash and doesn't guarantee anything can't understand why since in the trailer she was doing cd14
Reina is more than just oppressive she has a personality and an appearance that can be tailored to be insane not to mention an incredible voice and moves that feel genuinely powerful.
Granted...I am viewing this not because I'm not obsessed with the character...but because I want to elevate her...and more than just another reworked costume I want them to feel fear and wonder when this face this character as I have.
Thats a great video! I would add that if Reina Wind Steps into a grab, it makes that said grab unbreakable, because her Wind Step is a parry. You also said that "reinas combo dmg is way above average", but in my opinion its average at most. Sure we can just pick the highest dmg combo she can do, but since reina would need to rely to two ewgfs back to back as launcher, its not realistic to use that as the gauge for her combo dmg. If we go by her i15 launcher df2, her combo dmg i saw(and i watched a lot of different combos) is underwhelming in comparison to other chars i tried before her who did more combo dmg for a way less execution.
I'm just waiting for the Paul guide as I feel other characters are way too complicated for me in these games lol

Reina is more Lidia / Kazumi archetype than Heihachi if you think about it
Hei key features
1. Crazy mid and high pokes (112, df1 (-1 on block)
2. strong CH moves (Hei f3 alone makes Reina look like a joke)
3. risky but evasive lows (db2)
4. safe long range mid launcher (ff2)
Basically you have to think when to press against hei, or u get 80 ch mid launcher
Reina doesn’t have these things
1. 112 = bad range
2. df1 = -3 on block
3. lows have no high crush
4. she doesn’t have good ch hit game. All her ch are garbage compare to most chars in t8
5. she rely on electric to launch for big damage
If you mash against Reina you get strong pokes, not ch launcher
Her 3+4 is totally underrated. It comes out at 18f, low crushes, huge range, and SAFE at -8. It can be extended with Manji-Geri (4 input) for a high crushing mid ch launcher and also unsafe at -14. But like all the moves with Manji-Geri, on heat it gains access to a safe extension (Lethal Fury) that has massive damage. Oh and did I mention all of the hits are natural combos?
This also leaves her at crouching state if you don't commit to Manji-Geri so you can mixup or bait enemies into a launching full crouch df4 or a generic crouching d3 or d4.
So yeah. I say it's a pretty dirty move. It tends to make me become lazy given how much brain dead this move is.
Weak lows my ass. Her low-low and low-mid mixup swipe with natural mid is one freaking low.
Reina can do anything, basically.

IDK. Her kit is like 90% can be block. Rarely to almost none for Low-mixed combo. Her stances has to land a hit first to be connected to smoothly, even though, some stances still too slow and can be interrupted.
Unless you do it in Tekken-style ... send them fly.

This guide is amazingly edited and very stylish but feels it's made more for people who already play Tekken and doesn't get into a lot of explaining on why/how things work.
The electric dash was described as "doing it the ol' fashioned way" which for a beginner sends me to google and likely a different video. Stuff like that is all over. I get Salami wanted it to be digestible but it just makes another gate for new players
I guess I gotta find a different beginners guide and come back here when I just have a better understand

I desperately want to play Reina, but I can't do Mishima stuff to save my life. More than a month of practice has resulted in 40 Electrics, all of them accident, and wave dashing is completely out of the question. She's so damn cool, though.
I haven't really played too much of Reina yet. But she feels really fun to play and really shines in Tekken 8's more offense heavy framework. I'm going to miss the old Mishima patriarch, especially since I only really started playing him in 7, but Reina is a solid replacement.
Jin been my main character for decades since T3. It was time to learn a new Mishima character. Reina was just the character I need, a female Mishima character.

If her visual design would be better than "another cute girl" i wouldnt have to think who to main in T8. I feel like they missed an oportunity with the first female Mishima to break out of their boring female design and create a female character thats not a cute doll like the entire cast. Giving their muscle flex system, where characters can flex their muscles in their animations or moves and her play pretend attitude in the story she would be perfect to look like shes not very strong until she makes some moves, which suddenly flex her muscles showing that there is a powerhouse of strenght underneath her facade. As a heihachi main cute school girls are not really my cup o tea but her gameplay is.
I actually saw a post that dissed on the fact that people like you call Reina Advanced (which I believe she's around there for learning her).
