    Ouch that's right!! I'm founded the playlist of process!!!
    I think that this engine its a beast,later S52 ok its better,but in this year development a S50B32 was incredible.
    In this engine was put pieces of F1 Mc.Laren,the new DME MSS50 of siemens,double vanos,graphite connecting rods,competition pistons,unitari intakes,a big valves.
    Was advance in the last time.
    I have a M3 E36 Evo Sedan and my doors has aluminium,reinforced chassis,850ci differential,etc its a dream car.
    Bro!! Comtinues looking your process,sure now its finished but I discovered this roday hehehe

      Thanks Adam! Considering how much oil was on the engine and the vacuum/breather lines that were broken I’m very glad I’m doing all this. A much needed refresh.

    Great video, but could you please, please, please turn the music down for the musical interludes. It goes from your normal talking volume to a sudden increase in sound when the music starts and it's very annoying.
    The music sections are better kept as low as possible, just enough to help the fast forward sections speed along. Too loud and it becomes disturbing.

    The golden coating on the engine is typical of an engine that's been run on castrol 10w60 Im told. Mine was like this and I've since changed to shell and it's all gone.

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s not the oil this engine was run on though.

    • @autoshineblackpool

      @@EvolveAutomotive ah right. Perhaps it was run on castrol tws 10 60 prior to your ownership then? Or maybe it's just been neglected. Either way I'll enjoy watching, I'm currently building an e3y6 track car myself using the running gear from my m3 evo so very similar project 😊

    Seeing the oil that the engine is caked in, having it dry ice cleaned like Matt from Obsessed Garage did with his whole E36 would be perfect. Obviously it's very expensive and not even sure it's really a thing this side of the pond either.

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s something I looked in to last year actually when planning the project, but it was prohibitively expensive, as in thousands. Makes sense when that’s a few % of the cars value and originality is king, not when it could be 50%

    Subbed for this good project. Big end bearings should be your number 1 priority.

    • @EvolveAutomotive

      Really unsure if I want to get in to a full rebuild, all the costs really start adding up at that bit

    • @lilo40676
      @lilo40676 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EvolveAutomotive Sadly big ends are a known weak point on the B32, catching them before "kaboom" can spare you a lot a of cash in the long run. Bearing the costs involved, i would rather do the bearings and leave oem oil pump and the cylinder head gasket intact unless it has failed. Anyway, Imraan is the best person to advise you.

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      See this is the interesting thing, everyone has different knowledge.
      You’ve told me that, another person I trust has said chains and guides are the priority, and a third has said oil pump is the main failure.
      Without doing a full rebuild everything brand new it’s really who do you trust and doing your own research, plus figuring out budget and where best to put that money. I appreciate the input though.
      Then there’s the issue of doing stuff like main bearings but not getting the tolerances right, correctly cleaning oil galleries, not getting the thrust correctly set on the crank, all could kill an engine way quicker when it’s been fine 100k. There’s a lot to think about.

    • @lilo40676
      @lilo40676 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvolveAutomotive I clearly understand you mate since anything is possible and best way is to trust your gut more. however, on the contrary i can say that guides can be inspected for wear, BMW chains are robust and can be inspected for wear, an oil pump does give warning bells with pressure loss when warm etc. bearings on the other hand are like a heart attack

  • @VikasGiri1986

    You should show progress videos on touring for sure asap. Too much time in between videos is probably the reason your feeling that the feedback isn't as consistent as other videos on this channel. Keep up the good work. An intriguing project.

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try to keep them fairly consistent but can’t have them too regular as we’ve got all our other cars to cover too!

      @@EvolveAutomotive No I don’t agree, the whole point of series like these is people like to follow along, not just see the end result. It might be because they’re looking for pointers, have just hit a brick wall on their own project or like me just enjoy watching a genuine build where someone is getting their hands dirty even if they’re not an ‘expert’ (even better if there’s no fake gimmicks or jeopardy).
      Keep going, we’re watching and enjoying the ride with you and it will make the end result more enjoyable 👍

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That yellow varnish colour in the top of the engine is brilliant for an old engine like that. You should look inside the top of an M54 - dark brown to Black. It is down to temps, engines over the years have been running hotter as it helps with emissions but makes a mess inside. You could take the crank damper wheel off too as it should just be 6 short screws around the hub to undo, there will be plenty of crud behind there.

    • @EvolveAutomotive
      @EvolveAutomotive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve definitely see a lot worse! Just be nice to see if it can get any cleaner.
      In all honesty not sure why I didn’t take the dampener off. This is only an initial clean, all that has to come off to do timing chain so will be getting thoroughly cleaned.
