I remembered the planets by the acrostic "My very easy method just speeds up naming planets". The first letter of each word is related to the first letter of each individual planet. Doesn't make sense without Pluto 😂
False equivalence A neutron star isn't "a star, but a neutron one" That sentence isn't proof, it's an example. A proof would be using that example to show it's not impossible and then say that that's how it's defined
And a marsupial mouse is... a marsupial, but actually NOT a mouse. I agree the terminology invites controversy. Pluto fits the dictionary definition of a planet, but not the technical one. Just like whenever you tell a computer tech they have a megabyte of memory, it's actually 2^20 bytes, not 10^6 bytes, even though 2^20 bytes is technically a mibibyte. (Edit: left out that critical "NOT". Australia is full of things named after placental mammals that are not placental mammals - the Tasmanian tiger is another example. Regardless, if it's not a planet, call it a planetoid or something, not an planet, which only invites argument.)
Part of the definition of a planet is that the object has to be the largest thing in its orbit, or at least that is how I have heard it. Pluto doesn't meet that definition because it crosses into Neptune's orbit. OK, the exact definition for a planet requires something called "orbital dominance." This is one of three criteria, and, as explained above, Pluto doesn't meet that definition because its path crosses Neptune.
Oh and says ... civilisation has come a long way . Ha ha ha . .if we had ...we wouldn't be still using a man made currency.....that basically ranks us all ... And we'd share food etc , rather than leave others begging ...we'd work together .
Hey Neil, let's change the stars. What I mean is, get the IAU to, OFFICIALLY, make a new constellation. The idea for changing the stars includes Orion, Taurus and Pleiades (Subaru). Figure it's time to put something up there that's relevant to us, don't you think? Take Orion's belt and "Betelgeuse" becomes the head with a baseball hat. The 3 stars of Orion's belt make up the 3 fat belt loops on a baseball uniform. Below the belt are two legs bending at the knee. "Saiph" is the back foot and "Rigel" is the front foot. The spear pointing at Subaru/Pleiades is the bat and Subaru/Pleiades is the baseball flying away after being hit. "Bellatrix" is the hand that let go and "Aldebaran" of Taurus is the bat's tip. Put it all together and you get, "THE ALL-STAR." In my case, I see a left-handed batter with a, "7," on the jersey. Which makes him, "Mickey." (As it should be) But you can put any number you want, making, "THE ALL-STAR," any player you want. Pass it on, please and thank you. Don't worry, where I come from, crazy is a compliment. ;-P
Ice cream isn't cream, though. It is a mixture made of a combination of ingredients, including cream. It's like making bread; the bread is not dough but made by heating dough.
The reason why Pluto isn't a planet is because to be defined as a planet, an object has to be large enough for gravity to shape it into a sphere, which Pluto passes, but to be a planet, the object must have its own orbit. Pluto is actually in the Kuiper Belt and shares its orbit with an estimated hundreds of thousands of other Kuiper Belt objects. The Kuiper Belt is kind of like the asteroid belt. Some asteroids are actually large enough to be planets, but they share their orbit with millions of asteroid belt objects. Same with Pluto. If it had its own orbit, then it would be a planet, but it doesn't have its own orbit, so it's not a planet. I hope this is a clear explanation.
@@Dj87887 Hello Dj87887. First, thank you for taking the time to reach out with kindness; it's appreciated. Secondly, thank you for the in-depth explanation, which was clear, concise, and spot on. You presented educational information in layman's terms, especially the latter part which explains why Pluto is not a planet. Your explanation is backed on fact, not theory. Sometimes it is hard to let go of something that's familiar, especially within our solar system. Pluto has always been special, kind of a twin-symbol with Mercury in that Mercury is at one end of the spectrum and Pluto at the other end. I believe I could learn much from you about our Solar System, Galaxy, and Universe, as you appear to be well-versed and have the ability to explain in layman's terms.
So we was lost, none of us knew where we was, then all of a sudden Harry starts feeling around on the trees and he says I got it! We on Pluto! And we says, Harry how can you tell, from the bark you dummies from the bark! lmao
Hey what if I got 3 objects in an infinite void of nothing, not even cosmic background radiation, and put them in a straight line, then I accelerate the outer two at a speed above half the speed of light away from the the centre object? Reletive to the centre object, they are travelling slower than c, so no law is broken, but reletive to each other, they are moving faster than c, which seems impossible. Now what if while they travel I removed the centre object? Now the only thing they are moving reletive to is each other, and reletive to each other they are moving faster than the speed of light. Doesn't this break the laws of physics? What happens to the objects? Do they instantly slow down?
Well according to the IAU Pluto still does not meet the 3 criteria used to define a full sized planet and as one of the heads of the famous Hayden Planetarium, Mr Neil Degrasse-Tyson, I am ashamed to… Hey wait a minute 🤔 wasn’t there something about todays date…
Like Pluto cares weather we think it’s a planet or not. It’s round and beautiful like the other planets. Even space rocks are fascinating to me. Imma call Pluto a planet so what.
What if Jupiter isnt a planet and its a small star that hasn't lit yet......and the way it ignites is by the gigantic swirl touching down in the center, like a tornado on earth, lighting the gas like a fuse?
Haha April Fools Startalk crew 😂
It will always be a planet to me ❤
That's your personal belief, and you're entitled to that. But as far as facts, and science goes.. Pluto is not a planet.. Just saying.
I remembered the planets by the acrostic "My very easy method just speeds up naming planets". The first letter of each word is related to the first letter of each individual planet. Doesn't make sense without Pluto 😂

If that’s what you heard then what exactly are you responding to?
It's still a planet to me. Pluto shaming, smh
