    Great video. In regards to the use of antisieze this is what Denso says in their guide on installing spark plugs "If you apply grease or another screw thread lubricant to the threaded part of the plug, you are liable to tighten the plug to an excessive degree, impairing the integrity of the seal, even if you apply no more than the recommended torque. For this reason, do not coat the plug with screw thread lubricant."

    Yes. Needs copper plugs though. Requires a lower resistance on the electrode. Change every 30k miles. K20HR-U11 Denso

    Would it not be possible to just drop the new spark plug with the magnetic wrench ?

    • @bundysgarage

      You could. Just don’t let them “fall” down there. You could use a magnetic pick up tool as well if you wanted.

    Not true there will be nkg on one side then denso on the other side the factory does this because they have contracts with both companies!!!! This engine calls for standard spark plugs not iridium! I am not trying to be a ass.

    • @dominiquestephenson195
      @dominiquestephenson195 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are correct. I was pretty confused when I first changed my used 03 Sport 4Runners plugs in 2015. I thought maybe the previous owner only changed the “easy” side and said “fuck it” on the other. I chose the stock NGK plugs but would certainly consider the Iridium version of either stock plug were it available. Why not choose the longer life option all other factors being the same. Does anyone know if there is a suitable Iridium alternative to the stockers out there?
      BTW, 53k miles later (203k on the clock) she is still running like a champ and the plugs are great.

    Hi. Anyone know why the later version 1GR-FE uses 0w-20 instead of the 5w-30 in this engine? I heard it said manufacturers suggest lighter weight oils in the specs to meet economy ratings? In other words and if it were the case, it would be perfectly fine to use the heavier weight oil on an engine specified for the lighter weight?

    • @bundysgarage
      @bundysgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because the government is demanding higher MPG from the car manufacturers and do achieve this they use thinner and thinner oils. Using a slightly heavier oil is fine just make sure you change it at regular intervals.

    Do not need anti seize.

      Yes you do

    • @AndersKnudsen5280
      @AndersKnudsen5280 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bundysgarage @Vanuatoo is correct. You should not use anti-seize. Spark plug manufacturers specifically say to NOT use anti-seize because, 1) they already coat their plugs with a zinc compound to mitigate seize, and 2) using anti-seize adds extra lubricant making it possible to over-torque plugs when installing.
