    Well done! Tank you so much. Is there a possibility by creating a new item to set the Project staus to new without allowing the creater to edit it?

    Great job. I was wondering if this would be applicable to just scale this up for an organization spanning 6 states for regional supervisors

    You've gain a subscriber here! Thanks for the tutorial. I've been looking around and cannot find any "easy-to-follow" video... mostly complicate a simple tasks. One question though. on timestamp 8:22|9:54, is ity possible to disable the "More actions" section? Also, if you want to add additional tree under the condition "Yes", besides sending email, can you add "Add a Calendar Event" in Outlook calendar? That way the approver receive the email and he or she can see the event in the calendar? Thanks again!

      Hi, if you click on 'Show Advanced Options' under the 'Start and wait for an approval' action, you can disable reassignment. I'm not sure if you can disable 'Cancel Request' or 'Follow Up' though. Also, there is a action called 'Create event (V4)' in Power Automate that might accomplish creating a calendar event.

    Hey Michael, thanks for the walkthrough! Is there a way that under the "Update Item" action, we select a different ID, such as the the column "Project Title" in your case, instead of the record ID ? Thanks

    • @michaelalex2322

      Hi Herman, if you click on Advanced Options, there should be a box for Requestor. You will need access to that account though or the Flow may fail.

    Hi Michael! Thank you for the video! I have a follow up question. I set up my approval flows just like you did here, ending with an email being sent to the submitter to let them know the status of their request. Now I would like to add a column on my SharePoint list labeled 'Approver' and have the person who handled the request name be brough over automatically to the list after a decision has been made. When I tried to set that up, I created the column and on the Update Item action I added the purple button 'approver name' to the new 'approver' column. An apply to each action appeared. I tested the flow and now the only thing that is not working is the email is not being sent to the submitter to let them know the final status of the request. Can you help me out here? Here is the error it threw: Unable to process template language expressions in action 'Send_an_email_notification_(V3)' inputs at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language expression 'outputs('Update_item')?['body/Submitter/Email']' cannot be evaluated because property 'body/Submitter/Email' cannot be selected. Array elements can only be selected using an integer index. Please see aka.ms/logicexpressions for usage details.'.

    Hi Michael, new subscriber here and I find your video to be very helpful and thanks a bunch for this. Wonder if you can help to make a video on a flow that if someone fills up a Microsoft form then the approver will be notified and needs to approve it then it will auto generate a certificate based on the person's input and send via email? Hope you can help me out on this project of mine. Thank you in advance

      It should be appearing. Make sure the Approval is before the condition action. Also, try typing 'Outcome' in the search dynamic content bar.

    We are interested in a video showing one additional step to your video above. How do we next add an item or event to a sharepoint calendar after the item has been added to a list and approved? (We had this running smoothly but seems Microsoft has updated Power Automate and the calendar no longer is updating). Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    • @michaelalex2322
      @michaelalex2322  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure, I could make a video on this soon (on vacation). Basically it would be two Flows. One that changes the SharePoint item to Approved and another Flow that 'When an item is modified' aka 'Approved', to create a Calendar Event. You would need Start Time and End Time for your events that could get complicated.

    Hi Alex, I am working on a project where I have to create a form to gather employee's IT device information. Than, the form answers should navigate to the program Manager for approval and the approvals should be save into an excel sheet which will be operated by IT manager. Please guide me.

    is there a way to support picking who the approver(s) is?

    • @michaelalex2322
      @michaelalex2322  ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be more advanced. Would have to use an Adaptive Card or use a Power App to collect the Approver information

  • @umar_m411

    Hi Michael, I was able to get an approval workflow running on a flow when a new form submission came through. Everything was working great until I realized that the person who submits the form would not be able to see the list item from our SharePoint site.
    When someone on our team approves or rejects their request, the requestor gets a notification from the approvals app in MS Teams. But since they don’t have access to the site, they can’t click on the link in the adaptive card that is supposed to take you to the SharePoint site.
    Is there anyway around this without having to grant them access to the SharePoint site/group? Or would I have to ditch the approvals process and go with something more manual as a workaround?
    I did see there were some videos about manually assigning sharing permissions to an individual item, but I’m not so sure if that’s the best way.

    • @bhoody1
      @bhoody1 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you find a response or workaround for this?

    • @umar_m411
      @umar_m411 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bhoody1 Hello. Unfortunately I didn’t get a response as you can see, but I ended up going with a different approach. I didn’t want to have the burden of managing access for a group of 500+ people to 1 teams channel containing the SharePoint list. So I went with MS Forms instead. The automatic approvals was not a big deal breaker for us. Just needed something simple.
      If there was a way to add a distribution list to a teams channel and have that automatically add or remove users, that would be much better.

    Hi Michael- For some reason, my column named "Approval Status", is not showing up as an option in the "Update item" action.. I also noticed I cannot edit the column settings even though I am the list owner, and the column isn't showing up in the Column section of List Settings. Do you know why this might be happening? I setup an approval process power automate flow, and wanted to add this "Update item" action to automatically update the newly approved item to "Approved" in the "Approval Status" column. Thanks in advance for the help!

    • @michaelalex2322
      @michaelalex2322  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm, I would check to make sure you're using the correct List in your update item Action. Also, try typing out the name in the dynamic content pop up box of the column. If you are the list owner you should be able to edit the column settings unless someone changed permissions
