"LOONA SOUND" its not necessarily about songs in particular that have a signature genre/style. It’s more about the elements and producing approach that creates like a musical identity for the group. Like all the songs from predebut for example are all very different and have a wide list of genres, however the way the songs were produced (interesting breakdowns, unexpected beat drops, reccuring synth line etc) makes that loona sound for me. I feel like back to predebut they didn’t limit themselves to produce good music, but the directions from A&R were probably to have some interesting stuffs going on for the listeners and elements that has you thinking YUP this is Loona + the music was also built around the Loonaverse. Well I believe that loona sound is not completely lost but heavily toned down, like they put less emphasis on the details of the music and the purpose is not to create something groundbreaking like it probably was in the early days which is maybe not a bad thing at all ❤️
I think the loona sound overall makes you feel like you're floating in space and the mood changes depending on the stars and dust's colors if that makes sense :'D. Their songs either have some underlying eeriness, have nostalgic feels, or makes you feel like you're high on space. I can go on and write examples but it'll be too long :'D
I binge watched a bunch of Monotree's videos and finally was able to explain what I think makes that G-High + Loona sound: it's his use of ambience and (in Monotree team's words) "noise" that makes a lot of those iconic songs from predebut through XX feel a certain way. The session review video they have of Butterfly is especially enlightening there. But some non-Monotree songs also have that vibe, like Pale Blue Dot and U R. I think a big problem a lot of Orbits have is assuming a "signature sound" means a genre, when at least in Loona's case it clearly doesn't, because for example Loonatic and Stylish both "feel" like Loona in totally different ways. So it's refreshing that you didn't group songs that way, but instead sort of by production styles.
I think Full8loom can make the MonoTree sound for LOONA. I agree about this, even they can do any genre there's still have the LOONA vibe including the recent ones. Even they release that three girl crush in the time, I think they have different elements(i'm talking about So What, Why Not, and PTT). I didn't know why MonoTree can't produce them anymore when they can participate it without JJ.
the loona sound is good music in general 🙌 tho I could kinda see where u were going with each grouping. the grouping has similarities but I feel like their songs are not similar at all to each other in sound if u get wat I mean, none of their songs really sound the same even if there's xyz similarity, also the vocal colors from a 12 member group really do shine in their songs. we need more vocal covers cuz all their voices r so unique.
I don't think the songs sound similar, but there are elements that tie them together. Even in their pre-debut there were similarities between songs no matter the genre. For example reoccurring synths. What we have today is a watered down version
the "loona sound" thing make like no sense at all like some people may say XX is the loona sound while thats the only album that sounds like that (ofc they can be other songs that give similar vibes), and with absolutely every release theres people saying this doesnt sound like loona or this sucks, like everyone makes a whole different expectation from loona, some people want the cute bright loona while some people want the powerful noisy loona, like loona have been always been consistent in their performance but if we talk about music they always come up with something new
Except when they came out with So What, everyone took note of how different it was from their previous releases. And when some people expressed not liking it, people of the other side claimed that they “can’t always sound the same” and the B-sides sound like their old stuff anyway. Like you can’t deny how So What sounded remarkably different than their predebut to XX songs, and even different to the B-sides of that album, regardless of LOONA changing genres for every solo track. The creative direction definitely changed because it’s literally a different creative team working with them, and LOONA, as in the 12 girls, were never part of the production.

I really miss your videos😭
Yes.
which is the song jinsoul is singing in 3:22?
Not you saying TW for Jaden Jeong and now he's the saving the girls
I hate when people mix up the Loona sound for nostalgia, if you were really talking about the Loona sound it resides in its b-sides
