    This worked for my father's player, but we're using a region A player for a region B disk, so we had to hit 2 instead. Another thing was that it started playing the blu ray with audio only, which I was able to fix by hitting the Top Menu button and giving it about a minute to load, when it loaded the disk's menu the picture was there too and it played fine.

    OMG, brilliant it works! I don't have a function button (Pan. DP-UB420) but clicked between HOME and TOP MENU buttons as described.

    It's a disc thing i think. This trick also works on a UK PS3 and PS4. I think how i got there was pressing the top menu button (square) on the wrong region screen and the disc menu will pop up. Select play film and there you go. Though this disc was from Vinegar Syndrome, licensed by Multicom Entertainment. V.S are both very consumer friendly, coming from personal experience, and deal in quite obscure releases. This might not have been an oversight if you catch my drift.
    In reference to some comments here, some of the films Scream Factory deal in are licensed by Fox, MGM and other big companies, so maybe care to the authoring process reflects that. It's all down to who holds the rights. If it's an obscure film, the more chance there is of a loophole.
    Also, this works with something weird blu rays and doesn't work with dvd's of course.

    I have a Sony S3700 blu ray player, and one only has to toggle between different coloured buttons with the tray open. I can play Region A and Region B discs.

    My player is region free as I have modded it myself but it was set to region B for these videos. I am fully aware that not all BDs work with this trick and only titles from certain distributors work.

    My UHD-Player is region locked for DVD‘s (2 and ALL). Does it read a DVD with region-code 1?

    • @eddyw1978
      @eddyw1978  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No sorry this will not play region 1 DVDs

    • @Yngvarfo
      @Yngvarfo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Panasonic players are fairly easy to turn region free for DVDs, though. I've found people on ebay who sell home made remotes that will turn the player region free with a single press on its single button. No physical modification is necessary. I got one, used it once, and my Panasonic DP-UB820 will now play all my region 1, 2 and 4 DVDs. There are also instructions for some programmable universal remotes. Sadly, it doesn't work for Blu-ray.

    I did similar trick on Panasonic SU-BTT430
    But instead punching in number I simply snap the player out of the locked screen by simply spam the pop up menu button.

    Unfortunately this trick will not play Scream! titles and believe me i have tried. The companies that have worked without fail are Synapse, Kino, MGM, Millcreek and a few but not all Criterions. This player is a Panasonic BD80.

      eddyw1978 thanks for the quickfire response it’s 2015 and the model is a dmp-bdt180. I have a successful hack for some other region A discs I own but this one is proving stubborn.

      I would say it would if you have the respective buttons on your remote.

  • @danielcox3152
    @danielcox3152 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    So when you change it to region A will it play regions A and B or just region A?

    • @eddyw1978
      @eddyw1978  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Cox
      This doesn't make the player play region A it is just a workaround. Nothing on the player itself changes with this button pressing trick.

      Hi, I'm sorry I can't really answer your question as my player is now quite old (2010) and I am unsure as whether the new machines will perform this trick. Maybe another user with a new model could chip in with a response?

      I can only tell you I have the DMP-BDT110 and it definitely works on the Blu ray I've tried. By the look of it, it doesn't work on all blu rays though.

      Works exactly as the video on my 2009 Panasonic BD 60. Just pressed the Functions button on remote as instructions to bring up top menu, then repressed Functions buttons a few more times and I was able to play Prison Break Region A multi-episode disk on my Region B Australia player. Many thanks!.
