    Excellent player, I had this for 4 and a half years before it started developing problems with not reading discs. Unfortunately had to get rid of it after awhile and bought the 820

    The 9000 is hard to beat worth the short term pain that goes away after the first move

    I personally own a Panasonic UB9000. The picture quality and sound quality are second to none. The onboard HCX video processor truly does it magic. The audio and video components are on two completely different independent circuit boards. Hence the amazing audio quality. In the industry the UB9000 is also called the *Air Force One*
    of 4k spinners.

    I have had mine about the same time but sadly it has trouble reading 4k discs. Skips. pauses. pixels. Won't read. Says it's dirty never is. I have looked at forums around the world and people are saying the same thing as Iam. It's only with the 4ks it has problems with and still haven't been able to fix it. I was in contact with panasonic but as soon as I gave them the model and sn. They have said nothing since even after repeated emails so. I ended up buying the 820. So when buying the 9000 buyer beware. It's a price drainer for something that may screw up and nothing to fix it with

    I purchased mine in 2021 and It has performed flawlessly. The only pet peeve I have is that it doesn't offer a Bluetooth setting for headphones. (weight: 17 lbs).

    Im thinking of buying this unit as a backup and keeping it unboxed, just in case my oppo dies. Cant beleive how well built oppo is, but the Panny looks great.

    That HDR optimizer is a killer feature. It’s been a while since I’ve used my player and even longer since I messed with settings but IIRC for the display type setting High Luminance projector is for like 500 nits and basic luminance is 250 nits. So should set that to basic luminance projector and it should better map to the capabilities of your projector. At least theoretically. I’m not sure if there will be a noticeable difference or not but very few projectors actually warrant the high luminance setting.

      @Justin-fy7xk หลายเดือนก่อน

      Projectors cannot do hdr successfully. On my sim2 projector the 4k hdr setting is way too dark. Whats wrong with converting the player to SDR 2020. Its still way better than rec709 and 4k movies still look fantastic because its still in 4k resolution. You never have to constantly figure with adjustments

    • @danielwander605
      @danielwander605 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Justin-fy7xkThat’s how I set mine also. I output SDR BT 2020 to the optimizer which produced the best and most consistent results. Eventually I stopped using the optimizer and changed it back to HDR once JVC released their DTM firmware update.
      Based on his settings I didn’t think Chris would make that change so I didn’t mention it. But I do agree with you that it’s the best way to configure it for a projector when the player is handling the tone mapping.

    • @Justin-fy7xk
      @Justin-fy7xk หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@danielwander605 If someone could do a comparison video I would be interested but I would not want to have to buy a lumagen which may be able to do HDR2020 a little better at a cost of thousands.
      At the end of the day projectors are never meant to be super bright like Tvs.

    • @danielwander605
      @danielwander605 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Justin-fy7xk I agree. It's a tradeoff for sure but for me its an easy choice. Big projector screen wins out. I also considered a used Lumen for a while but ultimately decided it just wasn't worth it. Save the money for something else or a Projector upgrade in the future.

    You are so dead on with the one and done theory. That's how I feel at this point. I have the Oppo 203, I beyond love it. So that's just another unit that I'll never replace or upgrade (hopefully).

    I have the Oppo 203 from Launch, the Panasonic 9000 P1K, and the Magnetar 800. Got the Panasonic to have a newer player for every day movie duty, Oppo would be on secondary TV. My three players have been flawless with disc playback. The Oppo plays anything flawlessly, to this day, mine has been chipped for multi region DVD & Blu Ray playback. For picture quality, I would say the Panasonic wins with the HDR optimizer, but that is by a hair, really you would have to do a side by side comparison. In actual movie playback, you would never be able to tell the difference. The reason I bought the Magnetar, was I could live without my SACD & DVD-A payback. Thought I could but I was wrong. I would only get the Magnetar for multi disc & multi region playback otherwise, I would not bother.

    Does that 9000 have programmable CD track playback? Some Blu-Ray players that I’ve tried don’t have it.

    Magnetar 800 is very noisy 👍 sony might need disc clamp cleaning the freeze if the is slipping

    • @myhometheater7029
      @myhometheater7029  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The issue with the freezing is a know problem with the first gen x800 Sony. They haven’t fixed it with any firmware update yet. I have it in my livingroom and it’s doing ok there.
