    I'm just a simple DIY girl and for some odd reason this glue literally intimidated the heck out of me.... Thank you for all the fantastic information.... You've made it a lot less intimidating for me....

      It intimidated me at first too. This is exactly why I made the video. I’m glad it helped.

    Just a tip for those new to CA glue, really worth purchasing polyethylene gloves to use as the glue will not stick to them, whereas it will stick to Nitrile gloves or similar. Also get a bottle of Acetone to use for cleanup if you do get it in your skin. Use Acetone immediately problem-solved. Nail Polish remover usually is just Acetone so raid your Wife's in an emergency and blame me.

    For storing and to help extend the life of your ca after it's been opened up, find you a mason jar with a lid that seals good and you will also need to find a few of those silica gel packs. Keep your ca bottles stored in the glass jar along with the silica gel packs when your not using the ca. Moisture is ca's worst enemy.

      Model Man81 that’s a good idea too. You can also use a shop refrigerator.

      @@MakerExperiment the refrigerator works best from my experience. Mercury Adhesives is what I typically use and they recommended it. Have had a bottle last nearly 10 years with no loss in strength.

    You can use baking soda to fill the hole and apply the CA glue. It self accelerates and is completely sandable. You can also make a paste of CA and talcom powder, fill the hole and apply the accelerator. Reduces the amount of CA used and is a very durable filler.

    I am in a delema with to buy Starbound or Bob smith Ic-2000. Have you tested anything starbond has on rubbers? Looking to bond epdm rubber.

      I’ve used it to bond laserable rubber for stamps and it’s worked fine for that.

    I've seen someone use coffe ground for filler and I'm thinking of using it to repair some large splitting in my front door. I'm inexperienced so looking for advice.

    • @MakerExperiment
      @MakerExperiment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never used coffee grounds for filler before. I haven’t repaired a front door but I’d look into something more construction related for filler.

      Melvin Tan yes, it can. It may not be as strong as a dedicated plastic adhesive though.

      @@vincentlekei1969 I believe the Thick formula does depending on your application. It’s not meant to be a strong joint metal to metal but I know people who have used it to help hold things like wood handles to a knife blade before.

    It's really not hard to open the glue lid. Your just over thinking the whole process. Glue is easy to use. Thin is like water and they have different uses for different job.

      That was kind of the whole point of the video is that it seems intimidating but it’s not. You just cut the tip of the nozzle and you’re good to go. I’ve had a lot of people tell me they never bought it because it seemed intimidating which is why I made the video.
