The reason they used Bowser is so they can drift boost making it easier and more accurate making him overlap everyone since the faster characters are way harder to preform drifting on 150cc Bowser is great for all this despite the low speed stat
The stats are a bit misleading The speed stat is actually your acceleration stat and your weight stat is how well you can turn. Bowser has the highest top speed while having low turn speed And Peach/Toad are the opposite

I always found the handling in this game so bizarre and difficult as a kid so this is insane
I’ve been playing this game on switch and the handling is so difficult
It makes it so unique though
I learned to stop drifting so damn much like in other games and it became way more manageable.
