That's very helpful video about today. And what is the function for automatic count of the days that are recorded in the above? Will the number of days change with the next date?

When I tried this operation for the first example, the answer came out as another date. 1/17/1900. I then formatted the cell that the answer appeared in as general and the answer appeared in the proper format; as a number.

You can alse add the "$" in front of the "A" and "1" in the formula so you don't have to write the dates multiple times on Sheet 1.

Hi! Thank you for this. Could I please ask for your help with an issue. I am using an excel template for any given calendar month of any given year. I now have 12 tabs at the bottom, one for each month. But... I am staring in October, and everything is wonderfully automated (drop down when I choose the moth, it changes all the cells for the numbers of the days and for Mon, Tue, etc automatically)... But the rest of the tabs are meant for next year and when I try and change the year, I don't get a drop down to choose from, I get this formula =YEAR(TODAY()) How can I turn that into 2023? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Great tip. Question? Does Excel recognize leap years? Thanks for all you do. Jim.

    • @techteachersandstudents

The Today function bases the calculations off of the computer's time setting. So as long as the computer itself recognizes leap years (which I'm pretty sure it does), then Excel should handle it just fine. Thanks for watching.

Hello! I've encountered a delay in the date that today() returns. I think it has something to do with the timezone but I don't know how to correct it. For example, I use it today. I live in PH so it must return Oct 21. But it returns Oct 20. How do you I troubleshoot this?
