Beautiful, as usual! Al had such a lovely tone, great phrasing and presentation.

I just cannot stop listening to this GREAT tune! They simply don't make 'em like this anymore. I present a radio show every other Monday on Harbour Radio (based in Great Yarmouth, England) and I'm due to be broadcasting on April 17th this year - Al Bowlly's anniversary of his sad untimely demise. I'll do something in his name with a few of his songs.

I reckon poor old Lew must have been suffering from Chalfonts by the number of times he adjusts his seat!
Had to listen some more. The reed section is just superb.

Lol that's what I was thinking. Either that or there may have been a bad case of Ants in his pants 🤣

As always, Al Bowlly is welcome with the different orchestras that accompanied him. I'm so glad you keep giving us your company, too. God bless you all, my dear ones!!! June 18/2020.

Ahhaa, I thought I'd heard them all, pretty well, and here you are with another one! Blimey, how do you do it? On the other hand, it was he who did it, of course.

Cathy his name was Harry Berly, he played many various instruments but his main love was the violin. Unfortunately he died very young only in his early 30s, it was a very sad ending indeed. Sadly he took his own life at the Oval underground station.

Never heard this song before. Perhaps not up there with Al's top numbers but it is a lovely arrangement, presumably by Lew himself. I looked up the song writers. Michael Carr of South of the Border fame had a hand (probably the lyrics) and a Reginald Foresythe.

@@thegoldenageofalbowlly2759 I have listened to a couple of other recordings of this song and the Stone arrangement of this bright tune is the best IMHO. Shame the lyrics are......

THE Reginald Foresythe, composer of pieces such as "Serenade for a Wealthy Widow" and "Garden of Weed", easily the most "out there" British musician of the 30s. This is just about the only commercial number he ever wrote, and a strange contrast to his other work, but several bands recorded it, so it obviously helped to pay the rent!
