    “My wife is not into all this smart home stuff, but she loves the lock”. 100% same here. Excellent review of the new camera and the many ways of integrating it. I use the g3 camera because it gave me an Aqara hub at the same time, but I think this will be my next camera now that I have the Aqara hub handled. Thanks Craig.

    Opps didn't wait to the end. I saw you say it can record just motion events. Is that easy or self evident? My last camera was suppose to but I couldn't get it to work.

    How does it work if you place it up high on something like a tall shelf? Some PTZ cameras have a hard time looking down, not sure if I can mount mine to a ceiling

    Can this camera be used outside on a covered porch out of direct weather?

    Hey Craig great vid of this camera I have been waiting for. I understand it does not come with a power brick or cable. None of my spare existing ones have USB C, so I will have to buy an adapter which costs the same as the price increase I would expect if Aqara sold it included with the camera. You mentioned sending the camera into sleep mode if the garage door opens or the key unit unlocks the door. I did not go for this option with my current camera system as if anyone cracks the lock or steals my car and gains access to the garage that way I at least get a recording of them nicking my stuff. I have smart plugs which I switch off all my current cameras with a Alexa command when I walk in. This also means that it is not so easy at night to re activate the cameras as someone would have to crack the smart plug system and the camera to gain access to live views. With security having all your eggs in one basket may not be the best way.

      Thank you very much Gary. The camera does come with a USB A to USB C cable. I am sorry I did not specify it. I wish there was a brick in the box. But I do appreciate I could use my old USB A bricks. Instead of having to buy one more USB C brick because no one send them.
      I like the smart plug idea. I did a video on that as a smart home tip years ago. Like you mention someone would have to crack your smart plugs. That is one of the benefits, no one is looking for your smart plugs. It is a good physical cutoff using plugs. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and checking out the video Gary. Have a great day.

      Thanks Craig. I have enough old bricks so if the cable is supplied then it saves the additional investment.@@CraigsTechTalk

    Thanks for sharing! One quick question, is the human tracking option enabled when the camera is setup with Home Kit secure video? Or does it get fixed in one specific position? Asking since I have another brand Pan & Tilt camera with Home Kit, but the tracking is disabled.

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for watching. Unfortunately no human tracking in HomeKit. My other pan tilt cameras are the same way.

      Yes it can with a 3rd party camera mount screwed into the bottom. The camera includes a threaded based.

    I have set it up the HomeKit. But I receive more than 500 notifications in a day because it sees my wife and child. Although, it has recognised them from my album photos and have selected the "hide notifications" option still the notifications are sent.
    It's very frustrating because I want the camera notifications if a burglar came into the house but not sending all the time my family.
    Is there a solution for this?

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can see how that would be very frustrating. What I do is have mine setup to only send notifications when a clip is recorded. Then under recording options, I have “When Home” as stream only and my “When Away” to Stream and Recording. If anyone in the Apple home household is in the house, you won’t’ trigger recordings and in return, no notification. When everyone in your house leaves, if any motion is detected you get a recording and notification. Hope this helps.

      @@CraigsTechTalk thanks for the answer. I solved it by adding my wife as a household member in the Home app. Now, it’s working flawlessly.

    Never will I ever install Chinese hardware that has a camera on it in my house. No matter how many “privacy“ features it has, they can always backdoor a loophole into it.

      So what you think CCP cares about what you do at home? In this case, buy ring that can always send your videos to state agencies, who believe me or not, will care about you much more than CCP 😂

    Just got this camera today and what do you know it's dead out of the box brand new. This is already the second product from aqara that was dead out of the box that I bought this week

    • @CraigsTechTalk
      @CraigsTechTalk  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am so sorry to hear that. That is messed up. I have not had any dead products from them, but I would be upset if I had two dead products. I do know from a couple other people that Aqara is good about replacing devices that have an issue. One user had a new video doorbell sent out to him and they didn’t bother him with shipping back the broken one.

    • @sendo427
      @sendo427 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ya idk all the other things I have bought from them have been working great with no problems whatsoever. But for whatever reason the camera I got immediately spazzed out and was making all kinds of coil whine noises when I plugged the power and then it went dead and nothing would power up and then I had got one of the light switches and that wouldn't even power on or do anything no matter what I tried.
