    The CB mount here is perfect - Now I was just checking the Right Channel Radio's site for two mounts - so that I can mount my Ghost Antenna's on both sides (1 for the CB, the other for the Ham Radio). Again the interior mount off the side lip is brilliant.

      Glad it helped. This is why I made the video. To share ideas with others. Thanks for watching!

    2 things for you to get better performance. Put a copper ground strap from your bracket to that small hole next to your mount. It's flat weaved copper braid wire. The reason you want this is because the vehicle body serves as a ground plane. the padding you used to minimize scratching the paint lessens this. You will get better TX and receive.
    Next wire a direct lead from your battery to the radio. on the positive cable as close to the battery put in a inline larger amperage fuse for safety. You have limited power and will have more noise through the accessory socket.
    Another thing I have seen is they make a solinoid that controls power through the fuse box. you find an open fuse circuit that is only on when the car is in accesory. This connects to a solenoid switch that allows power directly from the battery, but is only on when key is in accessory. With this you still need safety fuse at the battery.
    Finally to make your DC power connections, look into Anderson Power poles.
    Mounting antenna more center of the vehicle will make for more uniform TX and receive, but your install is really clean!
    Some radios can be tuned up a bit for more power. Legal? no. but you'll get out more.
    The President Lincoln II 10 meter radio can be converted easily to 11 meter. but I beleive does 12w AM/30w SSB.

    Would have been nice to see how well the hood closes on it.

      Rich C great point. I there is 4 mm from hood to mount not including the protective 3M tape and soft Velcro.

    How's the mount holding up after several years? Is it still holding up well? Thanks.

      Mount is going strong. I have replaced the sticky soft Velcro top and bottom to help protect against rubbing. I found that the 4 foot whip torques the mount when I go into 8 ft parking garages cause it hits the ceiling . Truckers have been surprised by my clarity with such a low power general purpose CB. So it’s been a great setup I can install and remove as needed.

    Thanks for the vid. Very nice semi permanent install. What most people are gonna run.

      Thanks James! I'm still running it and it's helped me avoid some traffic jams and bad weather.

      ncooper987 I got a very similar bracket for a 2007 ram hoodmount but me and the wife split and she kept the truck. Not my radio 😮

    I noticed the firestik spring on there as well. Do thou think the spring is needed and does it make the antenna flop around too much?

    • @ncooper987
      @ncooper987  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul Smiley with the location and spring it is hidden from the driver completely. The spring is rather rigid, allows for some bend but no flopping concern. I drive highways and off-road and I would recommend the spring!!

    • @ncooper987
      @ncooper987  ปีที่แล้ว

      Addition definitely add the spring. I found parking garage ceilings will cause the antenna to make contact and torque the mount too much if I don’t have the spring

      I didn't do it yet, but I probably will. was thinking about doing the cobra 75wxst because it is so much more hidden, but this will be a much cheaper option

    I’m new to cb but one thing I heard was power it directly to the battery but if it’s working then good on ya

    • @ncooper987
      @ncooper987  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Durant haven’t had any issues without it directly connected to battery. I wanted it to shutdown when accessory was off as well. You’ll need a fuse online either way to not damage the cb.

      ncooper987 I didn’t know that lol crap I gotta look into buying a fuse now.

    • @Chuckwagon524

      Yes! Hooking into the battery will give cleaner audio, as radios are subject to electrical noise in Accesory wiring. Plus the awg cable in those is meant for lower amp things. When connecting to the battery, insert a large amp fuse on the + cabel as close to battery as possible. If you short circuit, the fuse will blow and prevent a fire and protect your radio. they also make DC breakers if you want something resetable.
      Another thing that's out there is you get a fuse block extention cable that wires into an open circuit in your car's fuse box that's only on when in accessory or running. this provides low voltage to a solenoid switch from power cable directly from the battery. Radio gets power from the battery, but the power is only supplied when car is on or in acc. limiting dead batt.
