That sawmill is awesome. I've never seen one quite like that. If anytime in the future you'd like to have a video on how the sawmill mechanically works, that would be awesome. You guys keep up the great work.

Would be fun to see the enhancements you're doing using the Frick sawmill. Also, when you say heating up the saw I assumed that was the blade but my only experience with saw has been with smaller diameter ones. I was just looking to see up my way if there was custom sawing and it looks like there might be one up in Red Deer. Here when they clear for an oil pad the lumber is harvested, but I thought most of that wood went to OSB.

Very interesting video. Sorry about your saw blade, but the saw Dr could make an interesting video. Also wonder if you've ever thought about how to shut off the air intake to your Diesel. TH-cam has been showing a bunch of run away Diesel videos.

I know that cypress is rot resistant.....can it be used for posts in the ground? Up north (Indiana) there are Osage Orange fence posts in the ground that have probably been there 100 years. Great video.

Just curious, as the log is being sawed you appear to be carefully controlling the rate of speed the log passes through the cutting blade. What are you looking for to determine the rate of the log passing through the blade?

I like the old time saws. You could get an electric motor and some solar panels to save fuel cost, but it wouldn't be old time. Or you could get a steam vessel and use the shavings for fuel.

I loved see your cutting that cypress log into a timber. Several years ago I built (with only a chainsaw) a two-story rustic home in the Florida woods. I used only cypress from an old man with an old sawmill in the Florida Cypress swamps. (a 4"'x4"x8' might turn out to be a 5"x5" x 8' - but that was part of the challege/satisfaction!) AND, our home passed one the most stringent building requirements in that part of Florida!) See my finished product here: th-cam.com/video/VRQTX9ZcWZ0/w-d-xo.html

That's why ya using an excessive amount of diesel fuel, it's pullied wrong. Make it 1 to 3 or 1 to 4 ratio half throttle you should be okay with you're blade revolutions. I:e. 1 on the crank 3 on the blade or 1 crank 4 blade. Half throttle. Not about wide open where it's on the governed safety, it's not ideal n it don't call for all of its potential anyways. It's wood.

I was disappointed; I wanted to see you load that log onto the mill.
When you were getting ready to turn that cant and grabbed the cant hook I said out loud "No way", and then you put about a half hearted attempt into and then done what I would have done to begin with. Was that just an instinctive reaction?
