In my opinion, some of the saddest moments in this trilogy are the moments when Frodo chooses Gollum over Sam, and Sam begins to cry.
It really gets you, because Sam is always there for Frodo. He gives him strength, and motivation, and even saves his life several times. But Frodo chooses Gollum after Gollum blames the loss of the Lembas bread on Sam, and manipulates him. Just so sad.

Also I'm pretty sure this charge at Mina's Tirith is based on the Battle of Cataluanian Fields due to the multiple references made by Tolkien ( e.g. the way how Theoden dies is extremely similar to how King Theodoric I died). Tolkien based most of his stories on british history and heritage, he said quite often that it was Britain if Britain had( as mentioned above) a deeper relationship with the horse ( as Tolkien himself had) and that these stories were ment to be the history of Britain as he would have wanted it to be. Because Britain has very little written history that is vast and gripping. Beowulf being pretty much the only written legend from times past that is well known.

0:43 "And then you see it. White Shores...and beyond. A far green country, under a swift sunrise."
Gandalf is a Maiar Spirit of Valinor, in Middle-Earth he took on the shape of an Old Man or Wizard. He has come from the Undying Lands, and has gone hence after fighting the Balrog and come back as the White Rider. My assumption is that Gandalf speaks of Valinor here, and his own experience of 'dying', and then he describes the Undying Lands as one would see who approaches Valinor for the first time.
No that doesn't sound so bad at all, indeed.

I’m sorry but I can’t someone who thinks Eomer and Gandalf saving the day at helms deep is a better moment than the Rohirrims charge at Pelennor Fields

  • @peteinthedesert7082

I would add 1) Boromir's death, when he says (to Aragorn): "I would have followed you, my brother ... my Captain ... my King."
    2) Before the final battle, Aragorn turning to Gandalf (after being drawn to Sauron's eye), and says to Gandalf 2 simple words: "For Frodo." Goosebumps! Then one-man charge! Love it when Merry & Pippen are the very next to join Aragorn's charge, before anyone else! Hobbits are truly bad-asses! :p
    3) Gandalf vs. Balrog. Gandalf stops short of the bridge, turns around to confront Balrog, and utters 4 famous words... ... ummm... ... I can't remember what he says exactly, ... something like "You can't go through" or something close to that :p

2:50 was amazing. He talked about having so many chances of turning back, which is why I love the deleted scene of the fellowship leaving Rivendell in FOTR. Elrond states: “on this journey, no oath, nor bond, is laid upon you to go further than you will” all the members of the fellowship had the option of turning back though none of them did. Tolkien is a genius and so are these movies

    My Top 5 Goosebump Moments
5 - No father should have to bury their child
    4 - Sam's speech
3 - My friends, You bow to no one
2 - So do all who live to see such times (at the breaking)
1 - Charge of the Rohirrim - followed by Haradrim horn on the Oliphaunt
Bonus - Lighting of the Beacons

  • @pbj1984
    @pbj1984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The Lighting of The Beacons should be in there, perhaps "The Top Six..."? The combination of the tenseness of everything happening at that moment, then the music starts, and the camera soars and flies across miles and miles... Can't beat that for goosebumps in my humble opinion

When Gandalf rescues fairmir from the night riders with the bright lights. By far the most moving scene in the whole trilogy, such a beautiful representation of the light snuffing out the darkness, great foreshadowing. 🤔

Awesome video! First, I want to say congratulations for those 10k subscribers! If you continue to produce amazing content such as this, I'm sure your channel will just keep growing more and more! I agree with the list presented in the video, I'd only change number 1 with number 2, in my opinion. But these scenes just show the epicness that the LOTR films have. The films, in my opinion, are able to take us on a journey to another world full of magic and supernatural beings without forgetting the most important things in real life, like friendship, compassion, courage, kindness, among many others. This of course comes from the books and most importantly from the brilliant man behind Middle-Earth's story. Anyways keep producing these awesome videos! Ps: Good luck with the whole dying hair thing :)

Frodo's "dream" of Gandalf plunging into the water with Balrog. The slowed down scene right before the water rushes towards them where the still water is illuminated by Balrog's flames. Gorgeous, dramatic and chilling shot.
