    Have you figured out a way to comment on a hole?
    As in a threaded hole tap dimensions etc, or a chamfered hole? At work when I look at a blueprint the hole dimensions have chamfers and depths (or even just to say it is a through hole) with the hole size, it would be nice if I could do the same here.

    Interesting video. I am just starting to learn FreeCAD. I like how you can create an orthographic projection from a 3D model, but can you do the reverse? Create an orthographic projection and then create the 3D model from that?

    Thanks for this great intro. I am missing the centre point for the hole. I tried creating the drawing plane at the origin and on the surface and each time I go into techDraw the centre point is missing and I am unable to dimension. I assume I am missing a setting somewhere. Any ideas?

    Best tutorial yet for dimensions. However, I work in Imperial in/lb decimal system. When a dimension requires 3 decimals it rounds up and prints 2 decimals. For example, a 3/8" dimension always show as .38. I have tried everything I can think of with preferences and can't find anything in techdraw itself. Any suggestions?

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Open up the techdraw workbench then go into Edit->Prefences under the dimensions tab you will see Dimension Format. Change the 2 to a 3 and you will have 3 decimal places. The format is in printf style, if you want to know more about it look here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Printf

    Fantastc, and easy to follow - I'm learning heaps. Just one question though. When I try to move the isometric view (by click and hold the left mouse button) it won't. Can only move it by dialing in new positions for x and y. I use CAD mouse settings, but also tried Blender with no change. Any suggestions ?

    • @Adventuresincreation

      I use the blender ones, the middle mouse rotates, shift + middle moves it.

    • @kevingpearce
      @kevingpearce 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But (when using Blender nav buttons) my shift + middle mouse moves the whole page around, not just the ISO view ? Middle mouse does not rotate anything, it just changes the pointer from an arrow to a hand symbol. Also, as I move the mouse over the drawing, individual view faces become highlighted in yellow ? HELP !!!!!

    • @kevingpearce
      @kevingpearce 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am confused about the interpretation of your mouse tracing app in this video. It shows the left mouse button pressed when moving the ISO view around the page, nothing about holding the Shift key at the same time ? Where does the middle key show itself ? All this is very confusing for a beginner !!!

    I have watched this video many times because it has a lot of good stuff in it. I'm using version 20.2 of Freecad. I'm assuming this youtube was developed with an earlier version since my drop down menus don't match up. At 4:57 in your video you mention "hard hidden false" as part of the property options to show a hidden hole and thereby allowing showing the dimensions of the hole. I have searched everyplace I can think of to find a way to draw a dimension showing how deep a hole should be but no luck. Is that option available on 20.2?

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Let me check on that. This video was definitely not 20.2. Maybe I will remake it in a newer version

    August 13, 2023: You apparently have the same problem I do, but you do not address it! You set your model in TOP VIEW (@3:07) and when you created the drawing, it is erroneously labeled "Front view" (@3:26) and all the subsequent views are obviously also mislabeled. Is there any way to correct it? (other then draw the part in Front view as if it was a top view - as Solid Works does)

    • @Adventuresincreation

      I know, but that is not the point. I want to find solution where I get get the correct results with minimum edits. I.e. correct the settings(if possible) and save it, so the next time I do not have to mess with it... It is difficult to explain to my 8 years old grandson this kind of "fleas" in the software.
