- Ever been interested in a Dirt Jumper? I was, so I bought an Airborne Skyhawk for my 54th birthday, and headed off to my local bike park and Pumptracks. What a blast.
Here is a little footage and some initial thoughts on the purchase
Good on ya! Going from a full squish to a DJ always freaks me out for the first while. They reeeally want to send you haha.
It's been a smooth transition so far, but there have been a couple close calls. They definitely let you know when you're timing and technique is off
Im 40 just started on DJ 7 months ago. Got some videos on my channel. Nice to see you on DJ on your 54 years..im happy for you.
I will check them out
All hail the garage from hell lol
It's is a disaster of epic proportions for sure
29er mtbs just don’t feel great at these new bike parks. Just a heads up your camera microphone has a background hum.
Only con: getting back on the big rig and realizing how laughably unplayful and dead modern mountain bikes feel. Luckily pump tracks help build that muscle and conditioning to get some lift out of big mountain bikes as well. Even if you have to adjust back to the geo.
I get that for sure. On our last ride, my riding partner was singing the praises of his trail bike and me for my Roscoe hardtail for that same reason. They are so playful and responsive. Of course, both of us were on the Enduro rigs because his surgically repaired shoulder and my still broken hand can't handle the abuse right now unless we are on enduro rigs.
@@outdoorsandiego ahh the eternal catch 22 of riding super hard on enduro rigs and getting injured, and then needing the enduro rigs to continue riding lol. unless it happened on a hardtail/DJ.
but man the modern big rigs basically IMPLORE you to ride over your head. nearly DH bikes.
@TeddyParker it was on the Enduro, but I wasn't riding over my head. Just a momentary lapse of concentration. Went over a rock roll I've done twice before, but I set up too far right and missed the built up transition. I've ridden way scarier on my hardtail. I just made a dumb mistake, and my index finger is paying the price
@@outdoorsandiego ya thats that pay to play nature of riding. I was riding at Soaks and just randomly clipped my foot on the outer edge, not even the pedal, on a rock. It's been the longest lasting and most nagging injury I've ever had. I never got it scanned because it didn't hurt that much or seem like a big deal. But now I can hardly finish out a day at the bike park before my foot is killing me. riding the rough stuff. but walking around I'm generally fine. It's a weird one.
