    Just picked up one of these that hasn’t run since the 70s lol. And advice on maintenance besides engine work?

    I've been told these engines are a tecumseh powerhead identical to the Jiffy Ice Auger. So start there for parts.

    I have this exact motor but I’m having trouble even getting access to the carb from the top because there seems to be no way to remove the engine shroud. Every video I see it has already been removed. How do you take it off?

      @connorryan1987 ปีที่แล้ว

      On my 7.5 there are screws on the bottom of the engine that allow the front metal shroud to be removed. 6 screws to be exact.

    I have a 1974 Eska that was made for Seacruiser. Same as Ted Williams just branded different I believe. My carb and some other components are also painted white.

    the small orange piece is a fuelpump. If it has a hole in it, replace. Eska carb rebuild kits are around $25.

    Are parts available for those outboards? I have a chance to get one that has not ran for years.

      I’m actually not sure. From the comments below it seems like there are some common ground with this Sears brand on other units. I would check eBay

      You can get engine and tune-up parts for Tecumseh but the Eska lower unit parts are unavailable, unless you find a parts motor. I've never needed one, but I've heard that you can get reproduction water pump impellers.

      Believe it's 32:1...also unleaded gas is not recommended. There is ethylene in today's gasoline here in the U.S. Ethylene will draw oils from rubber materials causing a hardening of these components. Ethylene is an alcohol and it will combust at higher temperatures often causing engine overheat issues. Lead in fuel is a lubricant but is not currently sold in the U.S. Additives are sold that will help with unleaded fuel issues.

    Hey I have the same exact motor and I'm having issues with the fuel primer coming from the gas tank stain pressurized would that be because the fuel pump isn't working and not pulling gas through over there be a leak in the line or in the gas tank somewhere

    • @IntoTheDirtshop
      @IntoTheDirtshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably clogged somewhere

    • @tommielee8
      @tommielee8 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...staying pressurized...wasn't sure what you were asking. I'm gettin' better, though.

    • @tonymarinaro8958
      @tonymarinaro8958 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TOMMIE Lee yes the fuel primer has a problem staying pressurized when I’m just idling or motoring around real slow but when I am at full throttle I just have to squeeze it a few times and let it sit and it’ll stay pressurized full throttle but whenever I’m at a low idol it wont stay pressurize and it’ll die

  • @mrgard23
    @mrgard23 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    that's a 1972-1974 Ted Williams ESKA built motor. the reason it doesn't go to fast is because it has an interrupt rod to prevent boat run-away if it's started in gear. The Orange diaphragm is called a duckbill( strange reason).
