That video is old. I made it before I officially started the series of Zettelkasten videos (the thumbnails for each of those videos has a number on it). Once I hit 100,000 subscribers, I'll probably remove the video you've commented on here.
Thanks for the question. Yes, I do use Obsidian in conjunction with my old-school (analog) Zettelkasten. I plan on making a video about this within maybe a month or so, but in the meantime I can say that I use Obsidian both to (a) back up and (b) enhance the work I do on analog cards. About the latter (that is, using Obsidian to enhance the work I do with analog cards): when I add the title and content of a ZK card to an Obsidian file, I typically add 1-3 tags to it, something it wouldn't really make sense to do in an analog Zettelkasten. In addition, each time I create a new file for a ZK card in Obsidian, I trigger a template that generates a bunch of Dataview queries that can be used to create something like a relational database, which I use to create connections between, for example, a claim page (the equivalent of an analog "idea card") and articles, authors, books, podcast episodes, videos, "tagpages," research questions, evidence, etc. To give you a visual for what I'm talking about here, I have posted online one of my ZK cards as it exists in Obsidian: www.craft.do/s/lph8dhD1tw8moj Just know that what I have posted there is just part of the note in Obsidian. Not included in the screenshot are all the sections containing Dataview queries. I hope this helps. If you have other questions, let me know.
It is a long time ago that I 've been explained things by a real professor, you're the real deal.
The lighting for you is way too dark. Other than that I like your thoughtful approach to zettelkasten.
I thought that you had gone away from 'folder cards'? Are your students finding them useful?

Hi, I heard you said you use Obsidian and old method. How do you manage that? Is it sort of a back up? Thanks
