A friend of mine just died last week at the age of 24 at 240 lbs of a massive heart attack 3 months after winning the Michigan state powerlifting championships so this video is hitting home bro. RIP Mike Goodroe #28
I’m 37 and been using gear forever. I was at a pool this year and collapsed, no warning signs that I can remember. Woke up in hospital 3 days later with a ventilator down my throat freaking out. They think my heart got out of rhythm and caused cardiac arrest which caused my lungs and everything else to collapse. While at the hospital they scoped my heart and did ekg and could find nothing wrong with my heart. Needless to say I’m done with steroids.
Normies: “Workout” Derek: “recruitment of motor units with heavy loads to cause microscopic tears in contractile tissue providing a stimulus for muscle hypertrophy”
My father, an ex body builder, has had heart disease and other cardiac complications since he was 40. Now going onto 56 and barely holding on. Coronary heart disease follows in the family and body building caused an insanely high risk which came true. I hope a lot of people take your video into consideration!
No. Avoid oil and animal products keeps your LDL under 70, avoiding plaques build up in arteries.. Body buying world is filled with meat heads. Steroids does not help either.
Before drugs, it was a different story. Here are ages at death of some old body builders: Dan Lurie - 90, Joe Weider - 93, Charles Atlas - 80, Jack LaLanne - 96.
Yep. Someone that takes care of their body and takes fitness and diet seriously live well beyond the average lifespan. Those that juice to the gills and eat 5x the recommended caloric intake every day while ingesting substances that the body shouldn't be dealing with die much younger than the average lifespan. Who would've thought? If having more muscle along with the possibility of a shorter life is important to you, at least get a physical with a solid blood panel, cardiac examination, liver function and kidney function before hitting the sauce. Take family history into consideration before starting. All these kids these days that are juicing without any thought about their own health, risk factors, family history, etc., are going to wake up one day and be seriously pissed that they destroyed their health. I'd rather have a nice looking natural body for decades than a roid body that starts deteriorating around 35 or sooner. The inside of the body is always more important than the outside and many don't take the time to comprehend this these days.
yep so many of the 40s-50s golden era bodybuilders made it into their 90s. LaLanne was active up to the day he died. risk of selection bias here ofc tho
Natural bodybuilding without the contest preps (staying lean but not dropping below 8 percent) will slow your aging. I'm 30 but look a decade younger (have maintained my youthful looks, don't have one forehead line or crows feet etc). The drugs or hard preps aren't good though. Resistance training plus cardio plus perfect diet plus no alcohol plus staying lean plus plenty of sleep is the best anti aging we have.
As a physician I really appreciate your understanding of the matter and that you only share correct information which is scientifically proven. Most people just start making up any pseudo explanation and treat science like its magic and they're harry potter.
Short, Naive Answer: The Human Heart, and many other organs, simply can't perform the necessary work at the necessary rate to sustain the metabolic demands of 300 lbs of solid muscle.
Man, at one point in this video it really sunk in that high level bodybuilding is literally a pharmacology and genetics competition. They all put in insane work, so it's down to who's organs can handle the good doctors juices 😂
Chemical warfare. I remember that famous anonymous interview by a pro-level bodybuilder on T-Nation back in the 90s or so, and it was sobering. He was pretty clearly talking about Nasser when he described “this guy who’s going to die,” and sure enough…
@@btwentwo I feel like Nasser is a super recognizable bodybuilder from the 90s. I remember seeing pictures of a ripped dude with glasses when I was a kid. The contrast of the nerd glasses and muscles was just wild back then.
I began lifting age 20. This year I'll be 64, never juiced. At my peak (mid-30's) I was 195. I began to trim down with yoga & diet change in my 40's to 165. Age 58 I was diagnosed with cancer & as a result of chemo I lost 35 lbs. of muscle. It isn't uncommon for post chemo patients to be prescribed anavar. I didn't do it. I just went back to the gym soon as I could & started over. Today I am back to 165. I am glad I never took steroids. Because I would never have developed the work ethic required to bring myself back. Word of advice to younger people: You're old a lot longer than you're young. And you don't want to be aging with health issues. Obviously I don't have the strength I had when I was younger, but I have all the mobility. A lot of guys (and gals) I knew who juiced when we were young, they're really f***ked up today. Triple heart bypass, etc... They literally appear 25 years older than me. Their quality of life sucks. I still do 1 hour cardio every morning & lift every evening, 4 to 5 days a week. Lifting, strength training, is absolutely one of the best things you'll ever do for yourself. Just remember: no one alive is smarter than nature. And if nature thought you needed to bt 5'7" and 265, you already would be.
I'm glad you won against the cancer mate. It's likely partly due to your healthy lifestyle. I'm 27, been going to the gym for 6 years, after about 2 years i stopped seeing any meaningful progress. I kept at it regardless, because I enjoyed it so much. Now about a year or so ago I realized I just wasn't in control of my eating, and now that I'm being more disciplined with my food I am seeing significant gains again. Either way, this period of essentially maintaining my body weight has shown me that I will never stop working out. To me it's about so much more than just building muscle. People have lost their way. It used to be "fitness and health", and now it's mostly just superficial vanity. I'd rather be scrawny and happy/healthy than huge and unhealthy.
I've been a nurse for 2 years and just in that short time I've had 3 different body builder patients with kidney failure. None of them were older than 60...

Wow I’m 300 pounds at age 22. Had slightly high blood pressure in my teens that is likely worse now. I have sleep apnea as well due to the weight. I live an active lifestyle and workout but eat too much. These videos are helping me take my life seriously and start taking care of myself.
@@LH74 I just started that! Coffee and tea to suppress appetite and lots of water. I’m doing one meal a day. Weights coming off and I think I’ll be able to do this for a while

my dad was on steroids pretty heavy in the 80/90s through his 20s, he won Mr northwest. hes never done drugs in his life and doesnt drink. he has heart issues. its the gear bro. maybe the other drug use is what pushes you over the edge to die but it 100% causes heart problems, along with other stuff we know.
@@williamwilson6499 im talking about drugs other than the steroids dipshit, do you tell people you do drugs because a doctor prescribed you some pain meds? its no different. "using drugs" is a common term for the use of street drugs that dont get perscribed to the person from a doctor. I know its a hard concept for your peanut brain to grasp but thats how 99% of people use the term, hence the likes.
That's not normally how it works. Your heart usually doesn't just "give out." Honestly controlling BP and cholesterol will keep most of this crap at bay.
Can't argue with science, I remember reading once about how destructive alcohol can be to your body, it can affect your nervous system and your brain to the point where you have no control over your bodily functions, that you can become anemic, how it can damage your liver beyond repair and eventually lead to death,, so many devastating things that it scared me to the point that I made up my mind right then and swore that I would never read that again
One thing that made me realise how bad alcohol is was when I learnt that the Body treats it like a poison. You are literally poisoning your body. Because it's so available and common you forget how bad it actually is.
What do you mean I cant shoot enough test to create a heman, run the entire US stockpile of insulin, take enough GH to grow a small village, double scoop 400 mg preworkout every single day, etc.!
Pretty much. You can walk around looking like a literal demigod and be at or past elite level on lifts without taking gear to fully retarded extremes. Like, to the dudes that use the crazy shit and just try to be as huge or strong as possible at all period and damn the costs? They've got my respect. But for everyone that isn't literally trying to be a superhuman mutant with a movie about their lifes story, it's not necessary at all. People do dumb shit with gear, half the time because they're young and don't know anything and the other half the time trying to do too much.
I worked for supplement company years ago and a large majority of my co-workers were into bodybuilding and competing and stuff. I know already two of them that died in the last 10 years, (years after even competing) and that’s just in my old work place, so yeah I do believe gear messes you up irreparably unfortunately.
Dosage matters a lot. If someone is on TRT doses, even fake-TRT-actually-low-PED-dosage, the risk of adverse heart events is very, very low. But when it comes to successfully competing at bodybuilding meets, yeah, you just can't do that without pushing your body too far.
The one guy who died, Derrick Alexander (?), of “unknown causes”, looks more like his veins took over his body until slowly wrapping around his neck and choking him to death. 😳
I didn't know anything about sleep apnea when my doctor suggested a sleep study. Wound up getting a CPAP machine. It really changed my life. I'm not drowsy all day, I think clearly, I have more energy, my memory is better. Thanks for bringing the topic up, Derek.
The more I watch this channel the more it becomes clear that you just shouldn't mess with PEDs unless you're a professional athlete or bodybuilder (and even then you should be really careful and make sure it's a reasonable amount). For us non-pro athletes/bodybuilders being natural should be more than enough. Most people never reach their genetic limit anyway
There are a lot of places and people where taking PEDS is the norm short bloated guys in "hardcore gyms" who blast for decades not to mention the amount of red meat and probably other things they are taking none of them ever do check ups. - This drug thing is bigger thn we think it's either you don't use at all or you use as little as you can or you blast till the wheels fall off i had a friend who was blasting for 9 years but he had to come off from the doctor for his own good will and he did he is now off for 6 years i remember how he cried infront of the gym because he had to stop(so the ped abuse did go deep) of course now he looks totally different and he has a child now but you can clearly see that not doing it anymore can save you not only from serious health issues but it can give you your sanity back.
@@brucepower3429 nothing wrong with red meat. probably the requirement of processed foods to get in enough calories to sustain the physique is more likely. The boyd just doesnt have enough resources to fight the inflammation.
@@brucepower3429 pure bs, anybody can use steroids and get away with it if be smart. Look at cellebs like Stallone at 75' still using. Who wants to stay natural and be mediocre for the rest of life? Erg..
At 31:00, he says that treating sleep apnea could be as simple as positioning yourself differently while sleeping. I can confirm that that is true. And there are no side effects unlike with the machine or the mouthpiece. It is so cool that he has figured out a detail like that. His videos are literally so dense with accurate information that you could rewatch them over and over again to get all the details and you have spent your time better than with any other activity. Best bang for your time spent ! ! ! Keep it up Derek!!!
What is the sleeping position? The sleep apnea stuff freaks me out so hard for some reason. I had a gf before who said I would snore at night. I've got a fitness watch and generally my O2 levels are 95-99 at night unless I've drank. Is that a good sign or totally meaningless? Don't mean to pester you but if you've got any advice I'd be very curious. Thank you!
Same here. I actually went to a apnea clinic where you spend the night in a makeshift bedroom in their office. They put all the sensors on your head and chest (ekg) amongst other things. There's no two way mirrors, but a camera in each corner recording you sleeping. It took me an hour to get comfortable, but I eventually fell alseep. We learned that if I slept on my back, the apnea was severely bad. But soon as i turned to my side or slept on my stomach, not one hint of sleep apnea. Instead of mouth devices and cpap machines, my doctor just recommended a comfy pillow and bed, and to always sleep on my sides/belly. Never suffered from sleep apnea ever again
@@dylan-5287 The best position for apnea is sleeping on your stomach since it opens your breathing passage. But It twists your neck and gives you headaches more frequently and it makes you grind your teeth more by putting more pressure on your jaw. The worst position for apnea is on your back since that closes your breathing passage. I sleep on my left side since that is medium for apnea and best for acid reflux. Can you tell me what app to download to track my sleep on my Apple Watch?
@@mugshotmarley That works for me too but sleeping on my stomach puts more pressure on my jaw and I end up grinding my teeth more. My teeth hurt during the day as a result of it. I sleep on my left side for moderate results with both. How do you deal with the pressure on the jaw from sleeping on your stomach?
Not a bodybuilder but I gotta say genetic tests can be a game changer for anyone. Past 2 years I've had some pretty bad insomnia and anxiety and after batteries of different tests couldn't figure out what was wrong. Finally got genetic testing done and came up positive for MTRR/COMT mutations. Started eating more dietary choline/betaine and taking an active B complex and I now feel 100% again. Wish I did this years ago!
I work in a prison it blows my mind when I see how big some men can get with good training and sleep . So for those guys that want to go freak mode and use drugs well that's the deal with the Devil. I have and will never use drugs. I work out 3 to 5 times a week. And I feel and look good for my age 49.
I'm 24, been lifting since 2018. The past two years were good, gained alot. Started using pre workout this year. Started lifting really heavy or better say pushed my limits daily. Gave longer gaps in nutting. This one day I took pre workout and entered gym, started hitting barbell curls and noticed pain in my chest. My heart beat was on the seventh sky. Now not to forget I smoke cigarette too. Came home with a really bad heart beat was sweating like pig and on top of that I had an anxiety attack which is too rare for me. Went to the hospital they said everything's fine (literally) it's just your heartbeat. My heart went back to normal 6 hours later. Stopped working out for 2 months. I was jacked af for me but it felt like my body was unable to hold too much muscle that quick, I felt really heavy. Stopped pre workout and protein and I'm okay now. Workout daily and haven't been better. EVERY PRODUCT DAMAGES YOU IN THIS INDUSTRY. LITERALLY
Sounds like panic disorder. Probably not your heart, like the staff in the hospital told you. You just got anxiety from the pain and thought you were about to die. But sure, probably the caffeine in your PWO triggered it.
@@SnailHatan Sure it is, to you. Do you think new, young athletes really know this? Most people in here know a lot about anabolics but most people outside of this community, who I know, think that i.e. the rock is natural. They question whether or not olympians are natural. They don't know better.
@@SnailHatan No, your replies are amazing. "It's not hard to think" "Please acknowledge my intellect, I need it. PLEASEEEE". Screw off. I'm not saying this for me or 750 quintillion IQ you, I'm saying this for young, new lifters who DO NOT know any better. Just because your brain is the best brain in the entire universe and nobody even comes close to your superior intellect, does not mean the same applies for everyone else. Not everyone knows this, like I said, they QUESTION whether or not top-level olympians are natural, which implies they do not know. You should know this, after all it's not hard to think.
I know, right? I could never use gear. I know more men than woman use it but I’ve competed in powerlifting, Olympic lifting and mma. I have known other females who have done steroids and it has never seemed worth it to me.
Dallas's death surprised me, Rich living as long as he did also surprise me, when he posted his gear cycle on Instagram my toes were screaming in pain.
From 24 minutes and on or something you're giving really good advice on staying healthy when on gear. I'd love a video fully addressing this, maybe linking to other vids where you go into all of these things separately
And for the long term, not meant for the bodyweight, not meant for what people are putting in the mouth hole to build that. And then there's sticking chemicals in there with the needle that don't go in the mouth hole. Heart goes boom. The end.
Lifting casually for 10+ years, shifted focus to cardio and bodyweight fitness over the past year or so. Gave up eating like a strong man, cut out all dairy. Lost 20lbs of fatty bulk, now shredded, still strong and most importantly I have never felt healthier. Natty life for me...will consider trt down the road if necessary. Stay safe everyone. UPDATE Never felt better. Roughly following Paul Saladino method, minus dairy. I do eat non fruit carbs as needed for training (big day on the bike). Mostly and endurance athlete now (cycling), with maintenance bodyweight exercise sprinkled in. Supplement with Boron, Zinc Orotate and L-Citrulline for testosterone. 3 eggs a day. Ice pack my balls every night before bed (seriously).
@@Charles50Kal Truly never been better, though funnily enough been on a paul saladino red meat, fruit, honey and eggs diet for four months now. Best thing I have ever done. Boron, l-citrulline, tongkat ali daily for test support. I have a swimmers build these days and am super happy and healthy. All the best!
I am 63 at 5"10" and 160. I have maintained this weight since high school and work out with light weights and bodyweight exercises. My numbers and health are like that of a 30 year old according to my doctor. Fortunately, I was never a body builder but just a guy with an average build.
The body is built to handle NATURAL levels of hormones, natural amounts of musculature, reasonable amounts of food and stress. Think of the things the body has to deal with in bodybuilding that are outside of what the body has evolved to cope with- constantly elevated levels of testosterone, humongous amounts of muscle to pump blood to and regulate insulin levels etc for, huge amount of food for the digestive system, huge amounts of protein for the kidneys, you get my point. Made this comment early in the video so sorry if i'm saying all the same shit as what's covered in the video.
Tbh not even the natural amount of muscle you can put on is healthy sometimes. I'm 188cm and 107kg (or 6ft2 and 235lbs for the americans) natural athlete and I feel like in terms of health I'd be a lot healthier with like 15kg or 35lbs less. Maybe I'm just a pussboi but that is how I feel about it. Sure, I feel strong in the gym with my 180kg (396lbs) bench, which is cool and I'm also proud of being able to move so much weight naturally, but I'm not really feeling healthy. I make this sacrifice because I love my sport, but if I as a natural athlete already feel unhealthy, I can only imagine how unhealthy 300lbs+ bodybuilders or 400lbs+ strongmen have to feel like. Nobody wants to admit it, but it just does not feel healthy😅 Being a skinny guy with good cardiovascular endurance is way more healthy. At least I felt that way back when I was into different sports which were more endurance based.
@@lk-ip1xs you’re right though... I’m 223 right now at 6 feet. Still feel big. On cycle I was puffing hard at 230+. It’s crazy how big these guys can get.
@@imcoleyourenot8391 yeah I mean the human body is literally made for endurance. Like just look at our physiology: The human race is one of the slowest when it comes to sprinting, but when it comes to endurance, we are better than any other species, partly due to our ability to sweat. This was a very handy ability to have thousands of years ago, when humans basically needed to chase their prey until exhaustion to finish it with a spear from close distance. So yeah... Our species is really not made to be strong and heavy, but rather to be light and be able to run long distances. So we basically train completely against what nature intended us to be like😅 Also, even though people like Brian Shaw or Hafthor Bjornsson are superhumans, compared to other species (especially ones belonging to the family of the apes) pound for pound they are still very weak. Just goes to show what we humans actually evolved to be, and it is not to be heavy and lift ridiculous amounts of weight.
@@lk-ip1xs 100% agree, i mean more the amount of muscle you'd naturally have with an active lifestyle than the amount of muscle you could potentially put on as a natty.
One of my very best friends died at 42 leaving 2 young boys and a wife. He had been a fat boy who loved to lift and loved to go to bodybuilding shows. Then he got the diet down and lost all the fat did his first show natural. I can remember though when his body drastically changed and realized he was on PED's. He did look great and he won a couple shows and was loving life. He had a massive heart attack at the gym at 5:30 am. They had an AED and EMS was there within 4 min and they fought for over an hour to bring him back at the hospital. He was a great guy. I just remember his wife crying and saying I can't do this when he died. Wasn't worth it.
"He had been a fat boy who loved to lift" Yeah if he was a lifelong fatboy until 42 it's hard to conclusively pin it on given how huge a risk factor being overweight is.
Damn bro you restored my faith in the comment section, us consumerist we’re always demanding more and more entertainment and ignore the fact that our entertainers are human as well. Derek does indeed look like he needs a day or two of rest and recovery.
I knew the first guy. Aziz. They called him Ziz. He made the shredded physique popular in Australia, was kind of a trail blazer. His heart exploded in a sauna in Thailand. A good friend of mine was his best friend, and he was in the sauna with him. And yes, he had a genetic problem with his heart and was doing cocaine shortly before it happened and was heavily on the gear.
@@imcarlito1 not well, but he was from my area and hung out with him a few times, but as I said my friend was his close friend. And then mixed with recreation drugs such as blow. We were all shocked, sadden, yet unsurprised when we heard he died.
@godofdreamzzz9632 Pretty easily actually. Shock and unsurprise is not mutually inclusive. Shock because whenever you are a kid and someone you know dies it is greatly unsettling and jarring. Unsurprised because if you knew him you knew how much steroids and cocaine he was pumping.
I love that you talk about this subjects straight to the point with no censorship with no hypocrisy with no "fake natty" pre made speeches, there are a lot of ppl that are clearly on gear that will deny it due to a fuckin ego thing, guys that arent even marketing on their image. I never took them because I kinda knew this things , my father is a veterinarian & has medical formation, he advised me not to take anything, he actually sold a lot of animal meds & I had access to a lot of fukckin roids for cows & horses but I never took them because I knew the risks. A good friend gifted me a Deca I ended giving it to another guy that wanted it. Now I have aproximately 9 years of working out & by no means Im a myster olympia but at 31 Im not that scrawny kid that barely had shoulders that I was at 16.Now im actually struggling with weight so all i needed was to start working out & eating Im currently like 193 lbs at 5'8'' I have over 20% of body fat but I feel comfortable with my genetics. I respect everyone who takes gear as they work their assess of, but this kind of videos are so important, cause there are lots of kids out there that are putting a lot of gear without knowing shit. Sincerely thanks for being so open and informative about gear use.
And it's the wrestlers who were either known steroid users or obese. The ones that had normal physiques but still went through the same thing in the wrestling lifestyle live longer.
Derek, can you please do a video on "best practices to stay healthy long term while using/blasting"? It can even be a series where you discuss the topic in a short video, then go in detail in several different parts covering diet, gear approach, and supplements/cardio/fasting/other practices etc. I think this would be a GREAT series and would probably net you a crazy amount of views over the long term as well. Maybe keep it not heavy on the vocabulary and attach citations in the caption or the info section. More people would share it that way too.
I mean 50% of this channel is exactly what you're asking for here. The channel is the series; instead of adverts the series is broken up by natty or not intervals and infomercials on hair loss
Steroid users are like little kids wearing a costume and wanting you to believe it's really them! If you don't go along with it, they throw a tantrum!! Stay natural buddy!
Other than common sense stuff like cardio, diet and keeping an eye in health markers like BP and blood work it really comes down to your genetics and the drugs you use. A "blast" for me is less than a gram of total drugs like 500-750mg and a cruise is 125mg of test e every 7 days. Some of the older guys who are still massive by normal standards cruise at a relatively high test dose for a very very long time with small amounts of other compounds for some period of time and extensive use of peptides. It's not studied but low and slow seems to be the compromise for long term gear use but it's always a role of the dice.
Funny thing about Rich Piana, after reading his autopsy, was that he didn't die of coronary atherosclerosis. His arteries were in decent shape, but his heart was like 2-3 times the size of a normal human heart, and that increases the risk of arrhythmia. I believe that's what killed him.
Just watched a doctor go over autopsy, his heart went into arrhythmia and blood flow stopped. EMTS got there 20 minutes later, his brain was damaged and already gone.
No it didnt . He died of diabetic shock. He was taking insulin to increase portein synthesis and depleted his blood sugar and fell into a coma while getting his hair cut.

At least you guys are real about it. Let's face it, these were not 3 sets of 10 reps and a nice dinner kinda athletes. These were Hardcore juicers who did extreme things with their bodies to get a certain look. No judgement, but this has little to do with bodybuilding and more to do with the practice of medicine, or malpractice, as it were.

@@Yungcarl2000 I get it. My thinking is fewer people would become disillusioned with their "slow" progress if there wasn't unrealistic expectations from the jump. Interesting video. Sleep apnea, mouthpieces, and selective beta blockers got my attention. 10 years ago at age 62 I was diagnosed both with mild sleep apnea and asymptomatic atrial fibrillation. I was surprised at both. Blood pressure normal. Was put on Pradaxa, Bystolic (Nevibilol) for rate control, and given an Oasys oral nasal appliance. I have been a weight lifter since age 25. Runner since High School. Bystolic did not make me gain weight. Like you say, the selective betablockers are great. I was tired the 1st few weeks. That's it. Oral appliance has made all the difference. All weight lifters should get a sleep study. Necks over 16 inches increase OSA risk. I never took any drugs except I was known as Big Gulp at the gym as I used diet coke to get motivated. I quit that. You should do a vlog on afib and weight lifters. Enjoy your videos.

As a large individual, 6' 6" who has weighed as much as 290 lbs. and who did cycles that were beyond ridiculous up until 3 years ago, I'm very lucky I'm still around. I have done 2 Nuclear Stress Tests and had 2 Echocardiograms the last 3 years. The Echo from 3 years ago was not great. The doctor said I was still in an OK range but borderline not OK (I'm simplifying this as to not get too technical). Immediately after that, I stopped all the higher/highest risk steroids I was using (Tren, Anadrol) and lowered my Test. I used to do 2 cycles per year, usually a gram of test with at least 600 of deca and 50mg daily Anadrol and usually incorporated Tren into one cycle per year). Now I spend 9months per year on TRT (150-200mg Test) and do one yearly cycle for 10-12 weeks that never exceeds 450 Test and only add Anavar to that. I know that this is still abusive but my 2nd Echo which was done 5 months ago actually showed improvement. All markers but one were better and the one that didn't improve, stayed the same. The doctor was so pleased, she said I didn't need my next Echo for at least 3 years. I will schedule it for 2 years from now to be safe. In a perfect world I would just do TRT but dropping to one milder cycle per year obviously helped me heart markers. I do realize that if I would have kept going with my previous cycles, I probably would not make it to 50. ANYONE WHO HAS DONE STEROIDS SHOULD GET A NUCLEAR STRESS TEST AND ECHOCARDIOGRAM ASAP. It could save your life.

I'd like to give my faith belief to anyone who's spirit is willing to hear. You never know when you're time is up and once you die that's it, you face eternity whether it's heaven or hell no going back. But Jesus Christ already died for us in our place for our sin offering and he was raised up from the dead 3 days later by God for our justification. God did everything that needed to happen for us to be saved after death, He gave us His Son to pay for our sins so we could be forgiven through Christ and washed in his blood and when God raised His Son from the dead, if you believe, God raised you up from being dead in your sins and makes you alive in Christ as Holy and Forgiven. Jesus is the answer to true eternal life that starts after death.
Fuck, I remember being 12 yrs old and my best friend and I, we were massive geeks (prbably still are) and we used to idealise zyzz. I’m now 23 and it’s hard to comprehend that I’m older now than he was when he passed. Truly such a tragic loss 😔
Honestly probably most guys that get into working out have a "Zyzz phase" lmao. He was one of a kind, many lessons to be learned from the man like doing what you wanna do in life, staying healthy and fit, appreciating every day, living life to the fullest and not caring about what others think, there will always be haters no matter what you do. I personally found out about him first when I found the song: "Steerner - Zyzz" some 7 years ago or so, I was too young back then to really appreciate how "special" Aziz was but when I really started working out he has never failed to motivate me to strive to reach further goals. I gotta be honest though some people take it too far with how much they admire him - or more like the persona "Zyzz", they try too hard to be like him to the point where the constant fitness talk becomes obnoxious, even though being one's own person is one of the most important lessons to be learned by Aziz Shavershian.
At the time I was in The Corps, the most common cause of death for my fellow marines, of any age, was kidney failure. 25 and 35 year olds having kidney failure. Often attributed to PED's, and then later to "combat candy" AKA Motrin.
Makes me remember one time back in 2010 or 2012, a teacher I had who was into bodybuilding told me of a friend of his who worked out with him had a heart attack at age 26. At the time I didn't understand but now, looking back, it makes sense.
I remember watching Zyzz videos for motivation back when I was like 17. I didn’t really think about it back then but it’s crazy how young he was when he died. Never thought he was on steroids at the time either tho lmao

@@topranked5465 I don’t do protein supplements/powder. You will get mixed answers on that question. Most, if not all, those supplements aren’t even FDA approved or regulated so use them at your own risk.
@@topranked5465 Depending on the brand, whey protein is generally a safe supplement. I use Optimum gold standard which has very few filler ingredients, basically whey, bcaas, a few artifical flavors not like some of these supplements with like a million ingredients on the bottle.
Protein powder is fine. Try plant-based ones too. It is a way to get protein with less calories, if your diet is deficient in the macro. You can just cut the serving in half to make it healthier for your organs.
And this is why I never started using steroids when I was 27 and I was power lifting slash body builder at 9 percent body fat. The men in my family all have high blood pressure and that scared the shit out of me.
The "dryness" they need to achieve and diuretics they take put a huge strain in the heart and kidneys. The lack of water leads to thicker blood which requires more energy to push and filter. To add to this, large bodybuilders could share some of the same issue as people suffering giantism of some sort; many have heart issues (Michael Clarke Duncan, Ted Cassidy). That's a lot of body for a heart to push blood around in. Thicken the blood, and it sounds like a prelude for disaster.
Wether your 300lbs of muscle or fat your heart cant decipher that it has to still work harder than normal to make your body function and plain and simple your going to die younger . its not healthy to be that big even if on the outside it looks all cool with all the muscles

Body building isn’t a very healthy sport. The aggregated activities are taxing on the heart and organs to bulk and cut multiple times a year. Compounded by drug use, not controlling blood pressure, lipids, etc. And a lack of commitment to large amounts of cardio to at least attempt offset the aforementioned. 1/2 of these guys can’t climb a flight of stairs without being winded.
Word to all you bodybuilders out there who can't be bothered to do 20 minutes of cardio before each workout. Get your asses on the treadmill. We need you alive! ❤️. Doing cardio also causes your body to release endorphins. These natural stimulants/pain relievers well improve the quality of your workout and leave you less drained of energy.

Jack LaLanne was a health nut though. Maybe turn around and realize that it's the diet killing people or letting them live longer.

Sounds like you've gone through a lot, good to hear that you're doing well brother. Solid and wise advice too.

Sounds like panic disorder. Probably not your heart, like the staff in the hospital told you. You just got anxiety from the pain and thought you were about to die. But sure, probably the caffeine in your PWO triggered it.
Probably the other 500 mg of caffeine you had with the pre workout. When taking pre workout you shouldn't be using any other caffeine on that day.

Oral appliance has made all the difference. All weight lifters should get a sleep study. Necks over 16 inches increase OSA risk.
Good to see you made improvements, but why not just cruise 150mg test a week and leave it at that bro.. you cant keep this kind of lifestyle up forever, especially being 6ft6. Youd still be massive and be bigger then 99% of the public so why take the health risks

This is why I don't even do pre or post workout supplements. Lift, some cardio and eat right is all I do. I'm gonna be 47 next month and I don't want any health complications.
Smart man, last year gave up pre-workout, last year and a half had had consistent normal blood pressure with no medications.
Do you think protein. Powder is bad too?
I'm also a car guy. It's like they revved their bodies and blew something. A piston or maybe a rod. That's the best I can explain it. 🤷♂

Your officials are fucked in the brain. Then again ours are right now federally and at a lot of state levels right now too so who am I to talk.
Exactly what Rich Piana said
Muscle actually needs 3 times more blood if I remember right. It definetly does need more tho, there's a reason myostatin exists

Derek looks baked af in this video 😎
Or tired
@@Chaosek very very tired, even checks to the top left sometimes where I suppose a clock is
Came for the heart stayed for the sleep apnea. Strapped up to a CPAP now awkward yes but beats the years of no sleep and all the health risks that come with little to no sleep. Newish to MPMD you should do a more in depth vid on sleep apnea if not already done so
10/10 would pay for this seminar at GearCon
I really enjoyed this kinda content and I would love to see more videos about the ways that we can all keep ourselves as healthy as possible while on this journey. Have a great day broskies
I wonder if Derek could do a video on the musculature of severely obese people and how it affects their bones, joints, organs etc. You guys ever seen those people that are so overweight and they look like they have a hunchback or elephantiasis in their limbs? I think it would be an interesting video.
My best friend died at 35 due to sudden heart failure. He’d been on gear for about 10 years. Awesome dude with a heart of gold. At least he didn’t have any kids. RIP Jeff “A True Bro”
Derek you look tired af in this video mans always working
Meh he looks fine
Yeah I thought I was the only one that notice
Apparently he fell asleep while filming this so yeah he was tired
Was looking in the comments to see if anyone said anything lol
Haha yeah the study talk started sending him to sleep. He's heard it all before
I'm only giving you my experience of being round the iron game for nearly 35 years and never touching steroids. I'm 50 years old now, I have zero health problems, still decently strong with no major injuries. And all the guys I know who took gear have a lot of under lying health problems, seriously injured, look like a sack of shit or dead. But I will say one positive for gear, There is 1 or 2 guys at my age that are still using gear and don't seem to have major problems. Maybe they just got lucky
Steroid users are like little kids wearing a costume and wanting you to believe it's really them! If you don't go along with it, they throw a tantrum!!
Stay natural buddy!
Dude, they are walking timebombs....
TRt can be helpful for people 40 plus
luck does not exist young man
Body building isn’t a very healthy sport.
I live in Japan and currntly they have a Sumo contest going on. So I think another sport with athletes dying young is Sumo
They remind me of cattle fattened up for slaughter 😯
In almost every other subculture while drug use is common it isn’t seen as healthy or ideal.
another huge thing with bodybuilders is ,everybody builder I've ever met has some sort of like drug problem on top of it , like painkillers and muscle relaxers and doing every other kind of drug ...,their extremist
I can relate. Been on gear for 15 years, 260lbs for some 5’8 was pretty good. My heart couldn’t handle it. I died
How long did it take to respawn?
What happened after you died?
What did you see after you died?? Is there any meaning to all of this suffering we all went through??
