I wish Fuji would focus on production/availability of fewer models and focus on creating a good/functional control/transfer app for android and iOS. A lot of these models seem to be serving the same customer base.
As Fujifilm grows, I think they are definitely experimenting more. However, it’s clear that cameras like the X100VI that sticks closely to their original formula works better than trying to follow trends or the competition. Thanks for your thoughts.
Their apps are so bad. Between ridiculous permissions, persistent location access and nearby scanning, and constantly running in the background sucking massive amounts of battery, they're just awful. It's less painful to just plug in a USB-C cable and transfer photos directly to my phone or PC, if not the SD/CF card.
Click click click ! Great video 👌 I sold my xt5 for this camera as a small travel camera and I have the xf18 f2 and xf27mm and the sigma xf18-50 as a complete travel kit, I already have an xh2 so needed something compact enough to fit into my coat pocket
Quick and concise video thank you. I do like your comments and I agree with one that it is a great alternative to the X 100 series, and I agree that the simulation dial should give you the option to change it functionality.
Depending on the size of your pants to be honest, but I would say no. It’s small but not that small. With a pancake lens like the 27mm f/2.8 you can put into a big jacket pocket.
Film sim dial is such a mess. I lock Reggie's Portra or an Acros based black and white recipe. I like a consistent look, and flipping through sim modes ruins that.
Is it the film sim dial that broke your heart? For me it confused me more than anything. I want to see an X-T50 II like they did with the X-T30 II, and just make that left dial blank. Problem fixed.
@@bigheadtaco Mostly yes. I just couldn't imagine paying that much for a camera and then having to look at that redundant dial every time I picked it up. It's an extremely clumsy solution to a problem that never existed. Replacing a useful dial with a useless dial is a double whammy of functionality loss. All they had to do was stick all the new bells and whistles in an xt20 and it would've been the camera of the year (the missing d-pad is also a huge step backwards). I know the answer is to just get the xt5 but that misses the point of Fuji shooters who love the small, powerful pocket rocket. I do worry a little about the direction Fuji is moving in.
Film dial was a huge sell for me. I treat the cut-50 like a film camera and shoot jpeg with a simulation and never edit my photos other than cropping. I’m a hobbyist, I don’t have time to edit photos.
Fuji sticking a dedicated film sim dial on their new cameras is so... just, no. It makes them feel and handle like toys. All the people raving about film sims had no issue accessing them on older bodies like the X100T, and half of the fun is creating/using custom "recipes" for which the dedicated dial serves no purpose. Fuji misread the hype and pivoted in a completely wrong direction. I'm not holding my breath for the X-Pro4...
I understand they were trying to attract a younger and newer consumer to the X Series, but would they have done the same thing to the X100VI? I say it makes sense with the X-M or X-A series, but not the X-Txx series…..
I love it. All my hobbyists friends have the same problem. Photos sit on their camera waiting to be transferred and edited. The film dial frees me from editing. In fact the way this camera is set up makes shooting in manual more intuitive to me than anything else I’ve used. I’ve haven’t used the auto switch since I got it.
I have no issue with the flim sim dial. I bought it as a travel camera and I love it for what it is! Lightweight!

The X100vi is the only body out of stock

Very nice! Sometimes you just need smaller. Are you okay with the smaller EVF? As I get older, it’s a bigger issue for my aging eyes!!
If it was weather sealed it would be a near perfect family/holiday camera.

They can easily turn this into an X-E5 by simply removing the film dial and moving the EVF to the left turning it into a rangefinder style.
Can it fit in the pants pocket with the 27mm on?
Also how does it perform In lowlight for video? I’m considering for live streaming

I'm getting early Exacta coupled with Leica s 007 vibes from the styling. Cool looking (IMO).
Ya the styling has grown on me, mostly because I saw it in person. Hopefully I captured it in a way that gives its true form.

I want!
Do you really? 😅😅😅
Oh what could've been. Was so excited about this camera and they broke my heart...

@@thomashill5768ya that’s the one thing that people have been complaining about. A dedicated dial for something that some don’t care about
@@thomashill5768@bigheadtaco Same happened with the X-E4. They just had to put a flippy screen on the older body and they totally ruined it.

I woudn't mind it if the film dial was instead AI subject recognition (bird, person, car etc).
@ would be nice to be able assign that to front or rear dial at the very least.

@bigheadtaco I agree! It makes sense on the X-M5. But on a 1400usd camera, it feels so gimmicky

@@gregfriedler2727 But you can easily choose between film recipes with a swipe or the joystick. I much prefer an ISO or a Mode dial
This camera is too expensive for its construction.
