      Um yeah that's exactly my point. If weed was legal it would be harder for teenagers to get, that was the point i was trying to make.

      keith stone It wouldn't be more difficult for teens to get.
      They would have just as much access to it as they would alcohol, and would obtain it in the same manner. If teens want it they will still get it.

      Dan C There's people pushing weed to kids in the middle of the street, do you see people sitting on the corner of the road with a coat full of bottles? That's the difference, most young kids are way too scared to ask some greasy dude to buy them alcohol or cigarettes and no reasonable person will do it because there's little or no profit.

      For almost the past decade this current Canadian government has worried me as they got their own way unabided. As a young voter I see the Conservatives have gone off the course to an area that quite frankly they have no business going to, and not only that, they think they can pass whatever they want in the name of security. Using fear tactics and American style politics is no way to be getting what they want. The people of Canada deserve a party that would actually represent the people and the interests of the country as a whole. The current young generation of voters is actually Canada's future, and not the old fogey's that want to stay in the past or are easily scared. I think we can be great again, we can be a shining light in the darkness of the world again like we once were. Petty fights between the Conservative, Liberals, and NDP can get tiresome for sure but no one ever seems to think of the future.

    To be fair Vice should interview NDP member and Consevatives ones.

    • @cormmal538
      @cormmal538 9 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I can see why Trudeau though, the Liberal party is the "Middle" party and can give a feel for both sides. NDP would probably comply, but not Conservative, they are very selective on who and how they talk to reports/groups. Thus, if just NDP and Liberals were interviewed then Vice would be seen as biased.

    Dope, glad to see Vice getting in on Canadian politics. I hope there's more. It's nice to see all the comments bashing Trudeau for being socialist.This country is far more left leaning, conservatives included so call us socialist, just remember it's our flag y'all put on your backpacks when travelling abroad.(if the haters even get out that much).
    I don't like how Canadian television portrays politics and I'd rather have Shane Smith or more Canadians from vice covering Canadian politics. This year we will be having an election and this sort of coverage is important to get out the voters. (Although I have to admit I would of wanted more harder questions for Trudeau)

  • @SlunkyBoi

    Man there is an inordinate amount of hate for this guy, granted I know absolutely jack shit about Canadian politics, but this guy doesn't seem unreasonable at all, in fact I agreed with a lot of the things he was saying. Certainly I don't think he said anything here to warrant the vehemently negative responses I've seen, but maybe someone wants to fill me in on why people don't like him other than "Socialist Pony" or "Commie"? I mean I'm legitimately asking, did this guy do something terrible?

      holyburritoimmexican For the "Commie" comments. It references something he said in the past. When asked which government in the world he admired the most, he answered CHINA!!! He said he admired its power to turn its countrys economy on a dime when needed. aka absolute control. This prick dreams off having all the power and doing whatever he wants with it.

    • @cormmal538
      @cormmal538 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      He has done nothing terrible, he's an opposition leader under a majority government, so all they can really do is complain XD. Serious now. Our current government has launched a long attack campaign against him to ruin his image by linking him to his father's mistakes and making him seem too immature to be a leader. Overall, he is seen rather favourably by the public, but that is just personally, no politically. As you saw in the interview, he often claims to support: the environment, personal freedoms, but will then support legislation against these.

    So much for unbiased reporting Vice.
    I don't mind Trudeau being interviewed, but when the reporter is making comments like "Canada is going backwards quite frankly", shows that Vice isn't unbiased on this topic. Usually you're decent about this, but I ask that you refrain from interjecting your personal opinions in, what is supposed to be, a factual based interview.
    Also, since you've interviewed Trudeau I'm kind of expecting you to interview Mulcair and Harper as well, otherwise all this video is is payed commercial programming by the Liberal party.
    Tl;dr: Don't get involved in partisan politics, remain objective Vice.

      @6hughmungus9 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Michael Bigam trying to stop us from sending 90% of our lumber over seas, causing shortages and ridiculous prices here, isn't destroying the industry. If they industry hadn't fought every step of the way to prevent any loss whatsoever to the utterly ridiculous profits for their share holders and actually worked with the government we would have a much stronger economy and the building that are abundant in BC wouldn't be so insanely expensive. I guess you are fine with selling the majority of our lumber to Asian countries and America while prices for the same trees that grow all around us are twice the price for the people who live here to buy as it is for an American buying Canadian wood in America... But keep on regurgitating that propaganda put forth by the industry solely to protect their billionaires profits.

    • @6hughmungus9
      @6hughmungus9 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      TriggerSpawn do you realise how much money billionaires make every year off of Canadian resources while paying the lowest possible tax rate and hiding a huge amount in foreign accounts which will never be subject to Canadian taxes? I'm guessing not or you wouldn't be bitching like a child about the relatively miniscule amount that is spent helping our least fortunate and most highly exploited class. But I guess your fine with socialism for the most privileged 1% while they impose capitalist structure to systematically oppress the rest of us and perpetuate the social inequalities and biases in orded to keep them and their descendents as rich as possible for as long as possible with no regard for what it might cost the rest of the population. Great logic fuck face.

    • @cormmal538
      @cormmal538 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Conservatives have a very low popularity and were elected with a minority of votes. This is largely due to low voter turnout and how our electoral system works. Justin has a nice image, but I agree, he often supports policies that experts refute. Albeit, he does offer small tweaks to legislation, but it wouldn't actually change it and is mostly just pandering.

      SilortheBlade Yes however the 39% or so was the majority vote and since we have first past the post they get over 50%. Kinda beats the point of having a leader if it is like that

If so that sounds like a very good answer from the police/RCMP in order to get more funding using a high profile incident and peoples emotions. Pretty well thought out, as are most of their statements. It's not like they're going to say it was all their fault for not knowing it was going to happen, and there's not much they could have done anyway since it was a crime of opportunity by a mental piece of garbage.

      Indie Media Eastcoast The problem is I don't want to vote for Harper because he will continue with is arrogant and narrow minded ways, he doesn't listen to Canadians and Canadians want progress and we aren't narrow minded, we are more liberals then conservatives and i'm not sure if you know this but he doesn't like universal health care, something every Canadian cherishes and also the environment should be our biggest priority! we had millions of lakes that where protected before 2012 and now we have just over a hundred now being protected... that is sad and pathetic and I won't stand for that kind of bullshit. He has obtained quite the record over the past years he has been in office, he only cares about the rich while the poor are taxed to hell and also he allows hydro one to rape the Canadian citizens out of all their weekly pay in which there is a shit tonne of evidence for, they are in court as we speak for this horrendous act. There is so much bullshit he has pulled that to vote for him again shows how much you pay attention. Please take the elections seriously as this is important to everyone, the oil sands will be fine since both the ndp and liberals know its importance to our economy. Climate change is also real, to ignore scientists (the people who have much more knowledge then you) is a foolish thing to do.

    • @brandonluco
      @brandonluco 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Indie Media Eastcoast ... You should be american with the way you speak, there are kids and adults that fall to cancer and other terrible ailments and you expect them to go into debt for that illness because pharmaceutical companies will rape them with prices just like they do in america. And the biggest waste of canadian tax dollars is the war on drugs, we have failed to achieve anything with this pitiful war and have wasted billions on a failed plan and still to this day we do! there are more crack, meth, cocaine, heroin users today then back in the 80's and not to mention the war on drugs like marijuana, the drug that everyone said was bad but yet scientist failed to find any serious negative side effects for, to think billions went towards fighting a plant that does less harm then alcohol... it's embarrassing and shows harpers true intelligence! Bill gates also donated a whopping 30.2 billion to charity for poor people in Africa to help them with sickness and your trying to tell me he doesn't care for the poor? why are your facts so false? do you do any research or you just like believing you are right no matter what the evidence says...? Anyone that agrees with war on drugs and disagrees with free healthcare is a very delusional individual who can't think for themselves, you may be a baby boomer and if so that explains everything.

    • @brandonluco
      @brandonluco 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You act like everyone can get their hands on these cancer cures when in reality they are being suppressed from the public and if you let big pharma take over they would make sure those cures where abolished, it doesn't bring them money and that is what a big pharma would want. Free health care will allow more people to live comfortably with deadly diseases. I don't understand how someone like yourself thinks a cancer patient should have to deal with a 100,000$+ bill while struggling to live, it's a barbaric way of thinking and you really should be ashamed you think this way. Just because you where raised with the awareness of your well being doesn't mean everyone else thinks the same way you do. I agree that a lot of people are raised with bad habits but we shouldn't judge them for it but instead help them and that is what free healthcare does, it's an eye opener of sorts and once you realize your bad lifestyle you change it without knowing you're going to go broke because of a medical bill and when you struggle to pay that then how do you buy healthy food? or how do you avoid that cigarette from all the stress and if they don't want to change then a certain death is waiting. Not to mention the fact that little kids and healthy people are also susceptible to diseases as well, you are literally evil to think these people should be bombarded with medical bills, no doubt you're a rich snob who only thinks about themselves.

      Union of Conservative Canadians Incorrect, and painfully so.
      'Conservative' governments in both Canada and the US have staggeringly depressing histories of mismanaging budgets, driving up debt, and slashing arts and social funding into oblivion.
      Conservatism means crony capitalism these days and we have woken up to that fact. The retiree crowd is the most prominent component of the Conservative camp and once they are gone the world can work on moving past the ignorant policies of the past.
      Conservatives are terrible with money.
      Conservatives are terrible for women, POC, the disabled, and the impoverished.
      Conservatism is toxic to compassionate people and is a consistent source for religious fundamentalism, xenophobia, bigotry, and destructive domestic and foreign policies.

      +Denny Sensation The sentiment is absolutely legitimate, but with strong leadership the skilled oil sands workers could become the skilled solar, wind and geothermal power workers of tomorrow's Canada. It would take something to make the transition, but it has to happen sooner or later not just because of environmental concerns, but the simple reality of the collapse of oil prices all over the world. While the fossils fuel business always operate on a boom and bust basis, a long-term sustainable energy plan that takes advantage of the the unique expertise and terrain of Alberta could mean flourishing jobs for generations to come. Call me a dreamer, but that sounds like a win-win situation to me.

    I'm not quite a young person any more, so I can relate to his fathers legacy without having to refer to a text book, with reality and a connection with an emotional sense...
    In 1980 my parents with 6 children (me included) started to build a modest house close to a thriving town in Alberta with around a 4% unemployment rate. Everything was going great, the house was almost completed. Dad had very lucrative jobs all over the country side with different gasplants and drilling rigs... then suddenly the word "Trudeau" and "national energy program" became very popular. I was only 4 years old, so I didn't know the significance, but I do remember many people became unemployed, miserable, then homeless.
    My childhood memories are of me and a few of my brothers sleeping in a corner of an unfinished bedroom, with one blanket, no pillow, huddled around the heating register... waiting for the heat to kick in like a pile of dogs. There were no baseboards, or rug on the floor, no window coverings, drapes or curtains... no lock on the front door... sometimes we would get canned food from behind the grocery store (dumpster diving). We traded some equipment we scrounged from the dump that we fixed, for some cows and chickens from a neighbouring part time farmer that used to work in the patch, so the milk and protein was usually enough. We managed to plant a large garden, so in the fall months we had good fresh produce to eat. To this day I still have no problem going for a full day without eating.
    Looking back, it was really tough times, my parents were miserable and always worried about the bank threatening to take back the house. Interest rates were 19% for the mortgage. We did manage to keep going by scrounging junk from the dump, and fixing it. If you go to the landfill right now, I guarantee that 70% of the deepfreezers sitting there just need a $6 relay or $25 thermostat to fix it... That is something that is easy to sell for $100.
    I promised myself I'd never be poor again, and now I'm set. Trudeau II can't take what I have saved up, but the younger ones starting out could get a serious reality check if the trudeau kid has the same economic sense as his daddy.
    We'll see if the Nintendo Wii generation can handle milking cows and shovelling chicken shit.
    Good Luck Canada. Do you want to look good with the few loud mouth hippies and tree huggers of the world, or would you rather have a roof over your head with heat and power?

      Indie Media Eastcoast nope! no the Liberal Party, to me their just another economic liberal, centre-right party, neo-liberal whatever you want to call them, to me the Conservatives and the Liberals are two cheeks of the same kind, or two sides of the same coin. soo yeah NDP all the way for me. and "rights of the white man" I think you'll find history has been very kind to the rights of the white man, and has suppressed successfully the rights of Native people.

      Indie Media Eastcoast no one gets free university. if your rich or upper middle class its no problem, if your lucky enough to qualify for scholarship in which sometimes it doesn't cover everything, then no one gets free university. least of all not the poor of which first nations, aboriginal/torrres strait islanders, and native americans.

    I really hate the fact that Trudeau talks about how he would give the law enforcement agencies all the powers they want, and it's silly to think that it could be a problem. IT'S A MAJOR PROBLEM. It's double-speak and that alone makes it impossible for me to vote for him (or Harper). Law enforcement agencies have proven time and time again that you cannot give them these powers. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

    I am a first generation Canadian from S. E. Asia for last 45 years. Needless to say like many other new Canadians we are happy with the system and policies no matter which party is in the Government. . I have read Bill C-51 and found nothing against me, my children & grandchildren. On the contrary, I worry more about radicals who will bring bad names to responsible immigrant Canadians, my children & grandchildren. In this respect I wholeheartedly support this so-called contentious policy.

    I believe Canadians do not understand conservative policy vs liberal policy. PLEASE for the love of god, PLEASE read each policy. If you are a low-middle wage earner, liberals will take from the rich and give to the poor + middle class (like robin hood). whereas conservative policies make it easier for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer (the gap between the rich and poor has gotten MUCH bigger since Harper's introduction to the House as Prime Minister. Mulcair is right in the middle with this one.
    EDUCATE yourself BEFORE your vote.
    vote for the POLICIES not what people tell you
    think for YOURSELF
    As a sociology graduate, I promise you that the BEST choice (not the perfect choice) for 90% of Canadians is the LIBERALS or the GREEN parties because of their leftist ideologies and policies.
    This is a country where we work TOGETHER for the betterment of all of society. NOT a country where we support the "survival of the fittest".
