Dude you are making some very high-quality videos! I got randomly recommended your channel by the youtube algorithm so what you are doing is working! Keep it up!
ooh, have you ever covered John Landis’s Twilight Zone disaster? It may be some good content to cover, as well as his fallout with Eddie Murphy. The Landis family is a whole rabbit hole in itself.
It's something I've thought of and almost included in other videos, but decided against because I was unsatisfied with how I approached it. It was such a tragic incident that involved the death of 2 children and Vic Morrow, and I want to give it the respect it deserves.
@@Syntopikon Yeah it’s definitely a level of tragedy that is very delicate. The fact that Hollywood rehabilitated him after is extremely gross, and he and Polanski had each others backs. The only good part of his story is when Eddie Murphy beat the dawg shit out of him.
See, I think the issue is that they forgot to do the "thinking" part. One look would tell a reasonable person that maybe this isn't the best idea. Instead, they sold their homes to fund a flop.
What's really sad about Wizard of Oz is that, unlike movies like Apocalypse Now or Water World, you can't say the suffering had been what made the movie good. The actors didn't need any of that pain to make the film. It was more than unnecessary suffering.
I think Jackie Chan also suffered tons of unreported concussions. He's certainly not indestructible. His daughter has come out publically of how terrible a father he is. Also Jackie Chan is now a huge advocate for the Chinese Communist Party despite him being born in Hong Kong.
@@Syntopikon he is a huge fan of Keanton, even payed homage to him multiple times like in the first police story with the umbrella hanging on the bus and in project A part 2 with a scene very similar to the falling house gag.
Didnt see it yet, will do it while having my breakfast in a second. But I see some are already missing. So. The Shining drove Shelley Duvall crazy and Disney forbade the Snowwhite-voiceactor to ever work again with her voice, destroying her career. The Phantom Menace was so bad, that Star Wars fans making fun of little Annakin drove that poor guy into depression. I bet there are lots more. Oh, and "Movies that destroyed lives". The new Star Wars Movies "destroyed my childhood", does that count? ;)
That's actually quite tricky, because a lot of films were huge flops at the box-office, but later made a profit on home video. 'The Shawshank Redemption' was a box office flop, so was 'the Thing'. Both are cult classics now. But in these days of streaming though... no idea how it's calculated.
I'm limiting it to just box office, though I'm trying to figure out the most interesting approach. The biggest flops are mostly Disney movies, but doing it just on Disney would be boring.
@@Syntopikon you should add the horizon film that’s in theaters right now. It has a 100M budget and has only made 32M. And to add to the loss it has 3 more sequels planned with the second one film already. The second one was supposed to release next month but got pushed to a later date. The second film has a reported 50M budget.
Rip Torn was definitely floating on something in that scene, causing Norman Mailer to really tear into him. I miss the days when writers were like that.
I hope movie-making has gotten safer since all of these. I knew some directors and shoots were cruel, but some of these are evil. I don't know how some of these directors and studios could so easily get away with it.
For once 'Roar' makes me thankful that CGI has come such a long way. Films like 'The Lion King' can now be made without harming either actors or animals.
The Wizard of Oz's production is evil
Yeah, it was pretty bad for everyone involved. Things would change, of course, but it was slow going.
I've been watching a lot of your videos after work to decompress. Thanks for all the hard work you put into making them.

14:38 Stallone was like "If I die, I die" 😂

Great video! Keep them coming dude!
Yes, Jackie absolutely deserves his own video😂
That's a good excuse for me to try and watch everything he's done lol
What the hell were they thinking when shooting Roar.
Like making Jaws with real sharks.
See, I think the issue is that they forgot to do the "thinking" part. One look would tell a reasonable person that maybe this isn't the best idea. Instead, they sold their homes to fund a flop.
The abyss one i had heard about… craaaazy.
Yeah, Cameron really liked to push the limit. I think he mellowed out a slight bit after Titanic - just a bit, though.
Incredible video!!!

Jackie chan could make the entire list.
Yup. Dude's insane. Definitely the modern Buster Keaton.

I’m surprised Last Tengo in Paris isn’t mentioned
Syntopikon, unique channel very insightful topics

Well, can't say Dolph Lundgren doesn't listen to directions.
Yup. If there's one thing I would never ask Dolph Lundgren to do, though, it's to actually punch me.
You should do a video on the biggest movie flops of all time. And what caused it to flop
Writing it as we speak, in fact.

The brother drops another tier one excellent video. Thank you for the commitment, bro.
And thank you for watching! 🤘

The snow used in TWOO wasn't asbestos. That's been widely disproven.

Yup. Roar is probably the wildest production I can think of - even more so than Apocalypse Now or The Abyss.
