I’ve been living aboard my Centurion 47 for the past 2 1/2 years and the only difference between my boat and yours is I got more things to break and maintain. Thank you for not giving up when faced with difficulty, your example is inspiring.
Congrats on your outstanding adventure in life! Not sure your immediate area, but am in the lower Keys; get in touch if your interested in a part time construction type jobby. I could use an extra hand now and then for my project.
Looks like you have another hurricane coming next week. Maybe take the boat around to the northern side of Marathon and anchor for this one with your new Mantus anchor. I rode out Hurricane Sandy in Marsh Harbour on a 45 lb Mantus anchor for my 37' Hunter with the eye going over top of me, she will hold, but it would be good to have the island blocking the waves.
I'm keeping a close eye on it and have been scoping out a few better anchorage spots in case it trends closer to us. I think the 45 would hold too but hopefully it will continue to stray away
I love your videos I feel like I'm right there with you and I wish I was ❤ your in my prayers 🙏 and I really mean that it's not just words 👼 from Florida USA Port Richey.

Good job doing your fixes on your own that's the way to do it the more you learn the better off you will be. self sufficiency is key. You're on the right track. Blessings to you my friend
Great work on that motor glad it's working well and like you said stuff like this will be helpful next time. I enjoy the content even if it's just daily life that still interesting 🙂 stay safe 🙏
Enjoy your videos. I would agree with you about the work you did on the engine the things you learned were valuable and will prove to be useful in the future.
You are making it happen. Very cool. I'm on a sailboat in Miami for the last 4 years after retirement. It's a great comparison for me to see you doing this at a young age vs my path. There are upsides of both. Fair winds and following seas my friend.
Hi MG, We need to hear your story! Trying to retire on a boat in the Keys in a few years. Could learn a lot from your 4 years on the water. Cheers, Mate! From Boca!
When I only had 30ft of chain I used to attach a smaller 10lb anchor where the chain met the line. It did a great job of holding the chain down so the main anchor (33lb Rocna) would have a good angle to dig in.
As always I really enjoyed your video. I’ll be traveling to West Palm Beach next Tuesday and I hope both of us will be safe since another storm might be headed to Florida, stay safe Damon and I’ll look forward to your next video.
Living the dream certainly does come with its drawbacks at times doesnt it. At least your resourceful enough to roll with it pretty well. Good stuff Damon, keep at it and enjoy.
In a 12 volt chest freezer, butter will last way longer than milk. The tiny freezer can be run hard into freezing, but keep it in ECO mode. It can take the freezing chore off your big expensive boat freezer and let it run warmer. You'll need some 12 volt brushless fans. Tungsten bulbs? Get them switched out for LED. You need a cloth and jugs to catch rain. You can gather a tremendous amount of information with a CB radio and a decent antenna. Try to find a car GPS as a low wattage dependable GPS. A low draw 12 volt AM FM radio makes sense. The AM hears the most at night.
I had a 12v chest freezer before and was surprised at how well it worked. Might be worth getting one especially to stock up on essentials for a longer trip
@damonrust like a 23 quart CR 22 = BougeRV 23 quart. 200 bucks. Avoid crap like Bluetooth phone. It sucks watts and can break. Bluetooth also creates radio interference. ECO mode lowers the compressor RPM and not only reduces watts, it considerably improves compressor lifespan and break in. Setpower SJ series also runs sales and they are rock solid. If your chest fridge can give your boat fridge vacations, that's a bonus. Watch out for TH-cam battery advice. The bulk of it is crap.
Hey bro. We messaged before. Bro I am always interested to see how you're getting on with stuff. You don't ever need to apologise to viewers about seeming boring or anything. You make your life and adventures seem interesting and real. Im glad you have friends because a lot of what you do seems kinda lonely. Maybe you're happy that way and that's ok. Just happy you're not always alone if you get me? You seem like a really sound guy. I hope you end up in a million dollar yacht! I kinda admire you're lifestyle and wish you the best of luck!!! Ephraim LA
It can definitely get lonely at times but I think I'm learning a lot about myself too. I enjoy meeting new people as I sail along so that definitely helps. I appreciate it!
The next time you take us sailing with you think out loud regarding the wind and sail set. I bet a lot of us are new to sailing so if you could keep it a bit elementary that would be helpful. Great work on your part!
Your determination is awesome! You keep this kind of work ethic up and these great videos and I promise you good things will come your way! You seem like a survivor and that’s a good trait to have these days. By the way, I have a daughter that lives in Springfield Missouri and another daughter that lives in Ozark Missouri. It’s a pretty part of the country up there, but even more beautiful down there in the keys.
I think you did a good job buying the second hand outboard. You’ve learned a lot and that will be of good thing in years to come. Cant you have your boat nearer to where you work? Ever thought of an Amazon wish list? Great video - thanks 👍
Unfortunately there's a no anchor zone for sailboats between me and work due to power lines nearby so this is as close as I could get. I'm putting together an Amazon wish list and will try to add it into the next video!
hey man, not sure if you've gotten the dinghy motor fixed by now but Ive always had a never-ending battle with mine lol. Usually ends up being water in the gas. Just a thought! That yellow bottle of dry heet has bailed me out numerous times. Water in the gas somehow seems to gum up the carb jets and mess it up. Keep up with the maintanace bud, great job on the engine, i also think it was the carb, it has a few very thin passages that need to be clean, usually a ultrasonic cleaner helps clean it out fully.. could also be that floater taking on gas. Whats your further plans for your patreon page?
Luckily the carb is only about $45 new so it's not too difficult to just replace it and keep a spare around. Hopefully when I start posting more regularly I'll be able to send out the videos early to my Patreon page. If you have any ideas of things you'd like to see there let me know!

How many horsepower do you need to get the dinghy around in all travel weather. Walter Ekland was island jumping in his wooden 7 foot dink with maybe 2 horsepower. The movie? Father Goose. Like December 1941. He also pulled a 40 foot powerboat into a lagoon with it. Air cooled 5 HP four cycles are lighter than a 2 HP Johnson. You pour the gas back after the run. No jellyfish. You haven't boiled a batch of jellyfish in your outboard, yet. For the Bahamas, you could use a spare 12 volt chest freezer. The food costs are going to be astronomical on certain islands. Some fish are contaminated and can make you sick. Don't forget limes.Learn your sim cards before you go. TH-cam bandwidth can get pricey and so are the island immigration rules. Good idea
I’ve been looking for a good dinghy light. What brand are those? Are they usb rechargeable or solar?
They look like Mantus.
Navisafe 769
I believe the brand is Navisafe and they take AAA batteries. They are pretty solid lights and with the mounts make a great setup
how do you sail into the wind?
You have to go at a angle to the wind and the tack your way upwind
