  • Homemade brushless outrunner go-kart with full suspension, 15kW. Fun with GoPro HERO8.
    This video was just an excuse to play with my new GoPro and the go-kart.
    Intended to be watched with subtitles on
    The GoPro footage was really just pointing and shooting in 1080P with Hypersmooth on, it's not an extensive review or test - but it is an indication of how it performs in a couple of conditions. Although somewhat obvious, I should also say that the shots where the GoPro is pictured mounted on the helmet are not shot using the GoPro!.
    If you want to see more of the go-kart, please check out my other video.
    Here are some of the go-kart's Specs:
    -Motor: 120100 model which is a larger version of the well known CA120 used on RC planes.
    -Traction Battery: 24S2P turnigy lipos (88.8V nominal, 10Ah)
    -Controller: KLS96501-8080I model manufactured by Kelly Controls
    -Display / Logging / Control: MoTeC C125
    -Peak Power: 15kW and above
    -Top Speed: greater than 80km/h
    -Range: 8km ish (driving it hard)
    It was designed for mild off road terrain, and tight technical tracks, and is a work in progress.

    This is amazing. Finally an electric go kart with some performance!! Keep the videos going. A video on the whole system would be great!

    That's awesome mate 👍😃
    I'd like to see it with a slightly bigger tyre/rim combo. Not stupid big, just an inch or two.
    Where you from? Looks like Australia at the end of the drought before we got the rain.

    What is the kv of the motor?

    Awesome! I like the turning radius of the kart. Any tricks to that? How did you achieved it? Or is it just the power/torque doing it.

    I bet with street tires you would bend the frame on pavement.

    I’ve got two fully functional razor quads they each have a motor powering one rear tire you think I could put both bikes into one and make both tires spin?

    • @torquesynthesis7641
      @torquesynthesis7641  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm it depends on a few factors, I do know that quads become a bit of a handful when pushed hard. Sliding sideways + a tendency to tip over is always interesting..

      Torque Synthesis I’ll probably try it haha.

      @@torquesynthesis7641 So turn the throttle down and don't drive like a maniac....

    Can you something like the Motec dash logger but cheaper on eBay or AliExpress ect? I need something like this for an electric cart project.

    • @torquesynthesis7641
      @torquesynthesis7641  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are cheaper options, it really depends how functional you want it. For instance, e-bike displays might do what you want. If not for the MoTeC dash, I was thinking of cheap options like using an aduino and LCD, or using a phone as the display for data over bluetooth. Other motorsport orientated displays do exist cheaper, although I don't have much direct experience with them I would say it seems that you get what you pay for.

      @@torquesynthesis7641 Thanks for the reply. I think i'm going to have to build my own and have bought an Arduino for this purpose but the need to learn programming is a bit daunting. What I really want is something that can also connect with relays and inhibit the existing Curtis controller when stall is detected which needs several sensors to do properly, plus display all the data on the battery and speed. I am building a prototype for a farm use vehicle and want to make it idiot proof. All it takes is someone driving a big load up a hill, stalling the motor and keep pushing the pedal. Nothing like opening a motor and smelling that burnt coil smell!

    How long can the battery run?

    • @torquesynthesis7641
      @torquesynthesis7641  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If driven at a steady speed like 40km/h on the flat, it should run for more than 30 min. I tend to not drive it like that though..
