Nue's always been fascinating to me: She's the embodiment of humanity's fear of the unknown, which, when you think about it, is one of humanity's greatest fears, from which almost all others stem. Heck, a great deal of why we fear death is, no matter how sure we are of our religion and beliefs, there is no true way to know what happens after we die, except dying. It's just something interesting to me.

I was thinking : since Yukari can manipulate borders, including the border between "what's defined" and "undefined", if she happened to be unaware of Nue's existence and/or powers, (she certainly is not but what if), could she still be able to reverse Nue's "undefined" state and make it "defined" if they met?
I consider Nue's ability not to be "The boundary between Defined and Undefined", but more closer to removing that boundary. Undefined, Nameless, without an exact form - Maybe Yukari isn't the denial of her power, but a gods "Giving names" ability could be?
2021 dweller here to provide some thanks. I found this song a long time ago (maybe 3-4 years ago) and it sure sparked my imagination for some of my stories (which I try to fit in some rpg campaigns). In fact, it is the line "What is left of any being once its truth is sealed away?" which made me think about what wound happen if someone would have its being deprived of name (being a name something to shout out to the reality to claim your right to existence). It truly helped me and I built a couple characters around that concept. This comment might get unseen by many, but I had to write it nonetheless. Thank you for reading this.

This song kinda reminds me of a video game. When she says “Back to the start” it reminds me of restarting a video game to the beginning and starting over. And when she says “Before the story unfurled” and “Before the light” it reminded me of how all the progress in the game someone made is now all gone. And finally when she said “All thoughts were new” it reminded me of when you first play the game, all your thoughts were thinking about what to do next and how exciting to see what happens next is, but since someone restarted the game they now already know what’s gonna happen.

Go back to the start, empty and dark- wasn’t it fun back then? Say, wasn’t it fun? Wasn’t it fun? (Let’s do it again.) made me think of a good antagonist for an RPG. If I start an RPG project, would you be offended if he/she used these lines?
+ChouChous Loyal Soldier You were inspired by this song to create an RPG antagonist, too? Me and some friends are playing a self-made RPG taking place in Asian settings and this song inspired me to elaborate upon the nature one of my antagonists. Originally she was basically a half-youkai Rumia homage who covered herself in darkness and used humanity's primal fears of predators lurking in the shadows against them. But after I heard this song I also gave her the ability to use her opponents' own imagination against them (what they think is hiding in her darkness is what she becomes... and she's really good at producing the kind of suggestive ambiance that makes people think that _really_ nasty things are hiding in the darkness) with one additional twist: Her sealed human half (she had to seal it or her instincts would've driven her to devour herself, so, no, removing her seal does not make her enter an EX-boss state... the fact that Nue's family name is Houjuu, Sealed Beast, is a coincidence) is also afraid of her youkai half's tactics and antics, so whoever fights against her has to both fight their own fears as well as her own. Of note is that the lore of the youkai in our RPG, which the other guys are not privvy to; they have to find the lore out on their own, is that youkai are not entirely naturally occuring monsters but rather products of human emotion, imagination and ghost stories (which makes them pretty hostile to humans in general since humans themselves have, through the stories, appointed youkai to be their tormentors, robbing the youkai of the ability to give their own lives purpose in the process, something the youkai in turn envy and resent mankind for) and her current nature makes her the epitome of what a youkai _is_... I'd say that if the guys figure out her true nature, they'll probably figure out the details of the youkai lore as well.

But, come to think of it, it is pretty interesting to imagine that Nue has been sneaking around even since "before the story unfurled"...... In honor of Nue thus retroactively making herself part of the PC-98 cast, I will also retroactively claim that the lyrics are an intentional reference~. Just realized what this reminds me of, a concept from the SCP Foundation universe, the "pattern screamer". made me think of a good antagonist for an RPG.
If I start an RPG project, would you be offended if he/she used these lines?
+ChouChous Loyal Soldier You were inspired by this song to create an RPG antagonist, too? Me and some friends are playing a self-made RPG taking place in Asian settings and this song inspired me to elaborate upon the nature one of my antagonists.
Originally she was basically a half-youkai Rumia homage who covered herself in darkness and used humanity's primal fears of predators lurking in the shadows against them. But after I heard this song I also gave her the ability to use her opponents' own imagination against them (what they think is hiding in her darkness is what she becomes... and she's really good at producing the kind of suggestive ambiance that makes people think that _really_ nasty things are hiding in the darkness) with one additional twist: Her sealed human half (she had to seal it or her instincts would've driven her to devour herself, so, no, removing her seal does not make her enter an EX-boss state... the fact that Nue's family name is Houjuu, Sealed Beast, is a coincidence) is also afraid of her youkai half's tactics and antics, so whoever fights against her has to both fight their own fears as well as her own.
Of note is that the lore of the youkai in our RPG, which the other guys are not privvy to; they have to find the lore out on their own, is that youkai are not entirely naturally occuring monsters but rather products of human emotion, imagination and ghost stories (which makes them pretty hostile to humans in general since humans themselves have, through the stories, appointed youkai to be their tormentors, robbing the youkai of the ability to give their own lives purpose in the process, something the youkai in turn envy and resent mankind for) and her current nature makes her the epitome of what a youkai _is_... I'd say that if the guys figure out her true nature, they'll probably figure out the details of the youkai lore as well.

Ah...! I honestly didn't think of that at all! The allusions to blankness and light were written only with her UFO lightball appearances in mind. But, come to think of it, it is pretty interesting to imagine that Nue has been sneaking around even since "before the story unfurled"...... In honor of Nue thus retroactively making herself part of the PC-98 cast, I will also retroactively claim that the lyrics are an intentional reference~. Amidst all the PC-98 references in UFO, I'm totally on board with that theory. THANKS!
