How to add fields to custom report types in Salesforce

Hi, I have a custom report type with Case as primary and KA as secondary , and wanted to add custom object "Type" of KA object in report type field, but somehow this field is not available. Tried Look up field too .Any pointer how can I add this custom field "Type" in custom report type. Thanks

What if a field that is on an Object is not showing up in the list of fields available to build the report type? I have a certain field that seems to not exist when building a report type.

That is quite strange. What kind of field is it? Is it on the primary object of the report type or is it from a related object?
