Possibly my favourite movie ever. I have watched it countless times. The story, the scenery, the building of unlikely friendships, the grief and the healing, the comradeship, the comedy. It is a beautiful film.
I'm sorry, I love to much.
I love when he says, "When you come to the realization that you're loved, in spite of your self-loathing, in spite of all your shortcomings, when you really understand that just for being human, you are loved, that changes everything. And that, I think is the secret to the spirituality of our humanity. It's the genius of God to choose in hiding in the place we would be least likely to look: within ourselves. And then when we discover that light and that love in ourselves, we begin to see it in the others, and we say, 'Oh my, aren't we all alike? Aren't we truly a community?' It's about not really understanding as much as accepting the reality that you are cherished in the world - for nothing you did to earn - but by being human, you are loved. That makes all the difference in the world." I couldn't agree more, Brother!
I had an identical realisation one evening last year at the Ignatian Spirituality Centre in Glasgow. There was a line in a poem which went like this "He loved you into being", which struck me like a thunderbolt and changed everything. I wasn't thought into being, planned into being, spoke into being, I was LOVED into being by God. And this has made all the difference, as Martin said. I was stunned by the wisdom of this man. God bless from Scotland. Graham
i know Im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I would love any tips you can give me.
Just seen the film and loved it. Very beautifully shot and depicts well life here. Englishman living in Galicia and thought it captured its idiosyncrasies well. i pass the people doing the camino everyday and have spoken to people from all walks of life. Sheen is excellent as usual and I didn't know Jimmy Nesbit was in it. Thank you to Emilio for having the idea for making this! bravo all round.
Humanity, the way he expresses it is so beautiful and real. I love the Estevez bc he doesn't shy away his love for his roots. He has no shame to express himself in his spiritual beliefs. 🙏🏼💖🙏🏼💖
Top 5 Best Actor of all time.... I have to watch the Movie "The Way" at least twice a year for a reset of what else really does matter than Self-Care, and understanding. We are on a Tick-Tock amount of time to experience the Divine....
I walked the Camino 3 years ago. I never went home, I stayed here. Now I live in Leon with my spanish girlfriend and we have a spanish/danish dauther who is 1 year old. I gotta say that this movie disappointed me a little. It is a far way from capturing the true spirit of the Camino, and it should not have been filmed in the fall/winter. It should have been filmed in the summer when the Camino is crowded with pilgrims. A great thing about the Camino is that you meet many interesting people with fascinating stories and motivations for walking the Camino. This movie only has four pilgrims in it! But the best part about the Camino is the internal and spiritual journey you undergo as you walk the 800 km. This is difficult to capture in a Hollywood-production. To me, it is much more interesting to hear interviews with Martin Sheen when he talks about the movie and the Camino. He is such a nice and cultivated person. It would have been a much better movie had it been a documentary about him walking the Camino. It could have been even better if Martin had walked with his two sons Charlie and Emilio. That could have been a blast to watch!
I did my Camino in the shoulder season of October to coincide with the national holiday and Our Lady of the Pilar day. A bit less people but it was still busy and I met sooo many people from all over. My favorite section was Samos. Turning that corner and seeing that massive monastery in that small village. Hearing the real bells, the crystalline sound of the creek running along the side of the Camino. The breeze through the narrow valley. It's beautiful. I have actually been looking at buying a little apartment on the Camino in Ponferrada.
When she said "and you're playing a priest", it's what I felt listening to this whole video, that he sounded like a priest or spiritual leader, amazing!!💖🙏🏼
I have done this route three times. But, embossed to say, I have done it all by busses because personal physical disadvantages. I have met many people on the routes. I wouldn't judge everyone's initially, even I found that many of them did it out of 'fashion' or ''in' route. I believe that by the time they arrived at the goal, they have changed more or less in their mentality or hearts. I am looking forward to the end of the pandemic and I can hit the road again. I will do this route one more time.
I’m hoping to get the opportunity to do the walk. One day! I’ve run from Alaska to Mexico already in 1992 at 37 years of age but now I’m 30 years older but that wouldn’t stop me from doing the walk.
The INITIAL PURPOSE of this WALK - PILGRIMAGE - was a PENANCE for The BIGGEST SINS committed, meditating( thinking) about own's life, connecting with God also trough prayers.
En estados unidos no distinguen a los españoles de los hispanos...por lo menos Ramón= Martín echa la vista hacia sus raices...en definitiva la tierra nos llama a conocernos más..

"The lock is on the inside". How profound and insightful.
A lovely soul. Been on The Camino 4 times and he is right about everything he says about the walk. Beautiful.
Lovely soul indeed. I am just beginning to feel a pull towards the Camino. Perhaps one day?
Go! You will not regret it.
"Spanish and Irish and American in the middle" beautifully said Ramon!
What an amazing man! I had no idea the was so spiritual and compassionate.
martin sheen is cool man.. A lot of respect for him
Angelo Trikoyias Fun fact: He is the voice of "Eyewitness". It's based off the books by Dorling Kindersley.
A family afflicted with addiction- hence the 12 step inspired religious addiction
I'm half Irish and half Spanish love the Esteves/Sheens.
He speaks so eloquently thank you for sharing this 🥰💕
I am a huge fan of Martin Sheen as an actor but especially as a person.....

LOVE THIS GUY. Hes a good actor.

Somewhere, it must not be a coincidence that he borrowed his last name from a bishop, Fulton J. Sheen 🙂
YES!!! when I watched the film, it was as Mr. Sheen said: I spiritually walked it with him....
A absolutely genuinely nice man
Great interview. And a nice movie to watch.

Thumbs up, brother! Go for it!
Martin you expressed your thoughts truly amazing and I thank you for it.
This may come off weird to some but Martin Sheen's voice is perfect for ASMR.
upoutmyfaceb0y lol thats what i thought!
I absolutely agree!! He sounds like a professor, or even like a priest or spiritual advisor but his voice and demeanor are so calming!!💖🙏🏼🙏🏼
Such a beautiful and interesting interview it was a pleasure to view.
Religions are dividing us and spirituality connecting us. Seems Martin is a deep and wise person.
I’m hoping to get the opportunity to do the walk. One day! I’ve run from Alaska to Mexico already in 1992 at 37 years of age but now I’m 30 years older but that wouldn’t stop me from doing the walk.
¡Buen Camino!
I really like this man. A wise 1 😊
Simpatico.
I love this man
amazing!
How an I get sound? 1:22
It's a pilgrimage inside, exactly.
God does love us
The way Second part incotto with friends???

He is a good actor. He is quite a different person in real life, when not in front of the camera. Some avoid him because of it.
What is your point?
Lots of people have spoken very highly of him. Especially the airplane staff
If they do avoid him, it's "their" loss!! And it goes to show their lack of character vs Martin's genuine and humble character!!💖🙏🏼🙏🏼
The INITIAL PURPOSE of this WALK - PILGRIMAGE - was a PENANCE for The BIGGEST SINS committed, meditating( thinking) about own's life, connecting with God also trough prayers.
So funny
No Martin. Religion is our response to God
And it's all male
He loathes plenty of people. I don’t get why people admire and make pretenders rich.
