I’m not a huge Simona fan, of course she’s a great player; there’s just other players I prefer to watch but as a person she’s very likeable, very honest and doesn’t take herself too seriously.
The lob is very underestimated. A good length lob to the backhand can be so destructive. Look at some of Andy Murray's lobs to get a feel for this shot. Go Simo! Extraordinary athlete and a credit to tennis. A joy to watch. She needs to be more complete by coming to the net herself.
Simona is one-dimensional player. How could she not think of lobbing a net rusher? She is like a robot. She never comes to the net herself. She just hits hard from both wings. She never slices, either. She was so lucky to win Wimbledon. BTW, I am a Simona fan. She has disappointed so much. Even in this interview, she seems happy. The loss did not bother her.
@@jeffreylara3835 Some people just want players to look crushed after a loss, as a sign of ambition and commitment. They are only humans. Maybe they just want to keep it together and stay positive, as it helps them more on the long run
I really love her attitude, how she approaches both a win and a loss. I was worried that this particular loss, where she seemed to not be able to "break" the opponent's strategy, will leave her frustrated and angry. It's good she can put such bad experiences behind her emotionally, while she will certainly learn counteracting strategies and perfect hits (for instance, she will probably practice lobs a lot more in the future). It's definitely a learning experience for her, and it's what's required to turn her into a consistent grand slam winner. But remarkably, while she gets really upset with herself, shouting, slapping and racket-breaking on court, that's her way of externalising all these negative feelings and I feel it helps her focus and stay motivated to win. And it's that attitude that will help her in the long run: not "the opponent is too strong" or "the court is bad" or "the sun is in my eyes", but "I need to push myself harder, I need to be f*ing smarter about this, c'mon!"... that's what will help her constantly improve.
