Just want to say, Althea Gibson was great and so was Arthur Ashe for that matter, but neither one of them have impacted and inspired so many women of color to enter into the game of tennis. The Williams Sisters opened the door a lot wider and not only that, they set such a high standard and created a blue print that all players, black and white emulate and aspire too. So, I hope that Taylor is not one of those black people who says what she thinks the media wants to hear for her own gain, instead of really giving credit where it is due. Its fine to admire Martina, it is not fine to diminish the contribution of the Williams Sisters who are a big reason she is able to have a press conference so she can admire Martina.
Taylor Townsend is fabulous. To beat Simona Halep is just great. Simona won the last Grand Slam at Wimbledon & Taylor beating her is a remarkable achievement. Taylor's going from strength to strength.
Expect Bianca to be a touch match, I believe Taylor can win BUT has to be selective on coming to net. I want to see the lefty serve open up the court on the add side and up the T on the deuce side. Bianca will be favourite going in. Either way good tournament for TT.

Your volleys remind me of John McEnroe's no nonsense cut throat end to a point and it is very intimidating and very refreshing to see and I hope more players use it. Too often the women go back to the baseline on short balls instead of moving in for the kill at the net, not since Martina in the 70's-80's have I seen it.

I think he’s referencing the history of the sport and the challenges women and black women have faced and are still facing. Talking about skin-color is not inherently racist especially if it’s allowing someone to speak their truth.
