At what distance and what type of target were you shooting/aiming at with your MAWL that was causing other IR units to wash out and everyone else’s nods to autogate enough from IR splash back to where it was noticeable by all other students? 🤔
So wait why are you not restricted to civilian lasers. is there some special license that allows that. Cause I saw you could make machine guns and sbr legally. Totally asking for a friend.
I must admit that while I am not nearly as involved with firearms as you are I can agree that tape switches are not my jam. I’m not military, law enforcement, bail enforcement or anything like that from a professional perspective. With that said I do like my guns and consider myself to be at least a mild firearms enthusiast. I have a couple of AR-15’s and one AK and I have taken the initiative to at least know how to run them semi proficiently. In the past five years I have taken pistol 1,2 and 3 and rifle/carbine 1,2 and 3 as well as a two day course on running a shotgun. My philosophy is that if I’m going to own them I should at least develop enough skill to be able to use them. It goes without saying though that I am not an operator or an expert but rather just trying to responsibly own some weapons and have at least some idea of how to use them if push came to shove. The point I’m getting at though is that during one of the carbine courses the class was taken out and to keep it simple we were supposed to light up our target temporarily and take shots according to the instructors recommended firing schedule and then disengage the target and go dark again. Well let’s just say I ended up ripping off my tape switch and replacing it with the standard tail cap because I was accidentally engaging the light when I was not supposed to. In the end I actually replaced the light that was on my rifle with an Enforce which is contoured and designed to be ran without a switch and this seems to work much better for me.
Hahaha! My uncle had grey parrot named Booger. He loved to yell "turn the fucking light on" when he would put a blanket over his cage for the night. He would also drop N bombs at random times because my uncle was a massive racist. 🤷♂️
BE Meyers, ive got a million dollar idea haha make a connector so you can hook a tailcap tapeswitch wire (not the buttons just make a wire connector harness) from a flashlight to this system. Idk maybe add a third button for the light, or activate that circuit when you have the visible laser selected and hit one of the two buttons (do you really need a green laser strobe function?) to activate your weapon mounted light. :) that wayyyy if you like your buttons on top where your tapeswitch goes for your flashlight, dont want to return to using a tailcap and dont want to make your pic rail cluttered and 10" of space used upyou can run your light from these buttons on your IR system. Just a thought idk high speed guys like simplifying things and saving weight and all that jazz I hear
That got to be close to a 13lbs rifle, Granted the Acog is pretty light. Do you still have the extremely Heavy barrel in that mr556 or did you reprofile it?
Do you find the RMR works well with the night vision and the ACOG's tritium doesn't show up in your night vision when you're looking through the RMR on night vision? This seems like a better combo set up than a unity tactical fast mount, because you get the really great ACOG optic for dyaytime and the RMR is high enough to use a chin weld instead of a cheek weld.
Have you tried cloud defensive owl? For light. Similar mounting style. Don't have the budget for mawl. And making small steps for all round truck/ EDC carry. Really appreciate your videos and that's one fine looking bird.

Toki -EJ1 Pretty much all IR lasers are legal for civilians to own. The difference is the FDA regulates IR laser units manufactured within the US and sold to the commercial market to be limited to the “eye safe” maximum output of 0.7mw. This is why you can buy other IR units such as the ZenitCo PERST-3, which has a maximum output of 500mw, because they are manufactured outside of the US. It’s still perfectly legal for a civilian to own a “full power” IR laser unit such as an AN/PEQ-15 that has an output of 45mw (far past the 0.7mw), it’s just that L3/Insight (the manufacturer of the AN/PEQ-15) cannot sell the directly into the commercial because of said FDA regulation. It’s dumb, but it is what it is. You can thank lawmakers and the federal government for that.

For instance,within the last month there’s been a handful of the L3 / Insight NGAL’s popped up for sale through pretty reputable retailers. They’re basically the modern/updated LA5. However, Matt Myers takes the MAWL-DA (Direct Action full power units) very seriously. He’s been known to literally track people down to reobtain those units from people who aren’t supposed to have them for any reason.
