DRESDEN, Germany 🇩🇪 - Central City Tour in Summer - 4K 60fps

  • Dresden / Germany is one of the main tourist destinations in Germany. As the capital of the state of Saxony it has several historical attractions that we visit on several walks here on the channel:
    • Walking in DRESDEN / G... and • Walking in DRESDEN / G...
We start our tour at the Dresden Central Station (in August 2019) and exit again towards the Wiener Platz and Prager Straße. We head towards the Old Town with the Zwinger.
It's rather windy on this late summer day. The breeze is nice for a comfortable temperature to continue further into the Old Town with the Semperoper and Dresden Castle.
We see the Fürstenzug (the Procession of Princes mural) and check the historical buildings there on our way up to the Brühl's Terrace. There we have a nice view of the Elbe river.
The area has many museums so we walk around a bit on our way to the Neumarkt and the famous Frauenkirche. As one of the main sights this church was destroyed during the bombing of Dresden and rebuilt from 1994 with private donations to be reopened in 2005.
We have seen many sights and head back to the Central Station via the busy Prager Straße pedestrian street.
    Timeline:
0:00 Central Station to Prager Straße
    12:00 Outer Old Town
    20:00 Zwinger
25:00 Semperoper & Inner Old Town
    29:30 Fürstenzug
    33:30 Brühl's Terrace
    41:30 Museum Quarter
    49:30 Neumarkt & Frauenkirche
    56:00 Old Town & Altmarkt
1:02:00 Prager Straße to Central Station
    Filmed in August 2019
    Camera: Osmo Pocket in 4K60

In my opinion they should recreate the facades of the buildings outside the train station and the main shopping street as well. They also could rebuild the bridge at 35:26. ~ a German

Beautiful city...but the first eight minutes, these images could belong to a thousand different cities around the world, say Germany, Australia, Canada or any other country. International franchises, fast food stalls, mobile phone shops, etc. It is impressive the homogeneity, or even uniformity, of urban landscape in every city.

I have written the first 24 minutes of subtitles (or 1/3rd of the video) which took some hours as a test. I will see when I do the rest. It sure is fun yet it takes a bit of time that I'd rather invest into other things. Let me know if such basic info makes the video really better. I will check if there is an uptick of views due to closed captioning. Thanks for watching!

Little was left of Dresden after the WW II bombing and resulting tornado-like fire storms. A survivor later opened a bomb shelter door, only to see carbon statues of seated humans that immediately crumbled, with bits of clothing identifying the burned dead as members of her family.

@@poptravelorg most walking tour videos have no subtitle and viewers have no idea what they are watching. doesnt need to be detailed introduction but names of important landmarks of a city will do. people really interested at those places would google or check in tripadvisor themselves. Maybe a walking route on google map at the start or end of a walk also help, anyway just my 2 cents, I was in Germany half year ago before the pandemic but didn't have the time for Dresden. I miss it so much and hopefully can go back to see Germany again and soon.
