- A quick walk from the train station to the old town of Dresden as I had an hour between busses. On this winter Sunday evening the inner city of Dresden is fairly quiet with the shops closed. A few tourists check out the beautiful Old Town of Dresden which is worth visiting any time of the year.
We start at the Dresden Main Station and walk along the Prager Straße towards Old Town. There we check out the Frauenkirche, see the Elbe river, Semperoper and Zwinger before heading back to "Dresden Hauptbahnhof" (main station).
No vlog, no intrusive faces or talking - just walking for about an hour enjoying the "Elbflorenz".

1948/49 fuhren wir in einem Bus zu einem Schwimmwettbewerb. Die Straßen waren gerade so vom Schutt befreit. 1995 saßen wir im "Italienischen Haus " am Elbufer und löffelten eine Rote Grütze. Und heute? Unglaublich und DANKE an alle, die an dieser Auferstehung so hart gearbeitet haben. ❤❤❤

My favorite city in germany 😍
I visited Dresden in 1968 when much was still in ruins, stayed at what is now the IBIS hotel which was quite reasonable. Went again 2018 and was really impressed by the rebuilding done to some extent by the East Germans but mainly by the west after reunification. My wife was very impressed despite the fact that we have travelled extensively in Germany and have seen some fantastic cities and towns as well as the wonderful countryside. We hope to visit again sometime.

It was during the firestorms that hot in Dreseden, that the asphalt on the street cooked, burned and people on the streets burned like torches. The uttermost people in the city center suffocated while the firestorm has taken all oxygene out of the air. Even all the people in air raid shelter and basements also died by suffocate.
Thank you for this remarkable non-stop orientation of an equally remarkable city. The camera work and pacing are outstanding (I'm speaking as a video producer), and the 4k camera captured all the nuances of late afternoon and evening without jostling for space among throngs of tourists that one would anticipate during the day. I'm eagerly anticipating my visit soon.

Most beautiful and historic Dresden. A jewel of the Baroque century. A miracle its reconstruction after the infamous and barbaric aeial bombing of February 1945 by the American air British air forces. No industrial or military objectives justified this atrocity. ONLY BRUTAL REVENGE. ITS GLORIOUS REBIRTH IS A SLAP ON THE SNOUTS OF THE SAVAGES. My heart rejoices at the splendor and magnificence baroque beauty of Dresden.

But why don't you use subtitle descriptives like other TH-cam channels? That help us learn about and identify places you film. Without them, we just see videos with no information, useful for those who have already been there.

I did this subtitle test a while ago to check how many people actually use the subtitle. It's actually very viewers while for me it is several hours of work.
Currently I'm working on another channel concept with more extra info displays and possibly shorter videos. Here on poptravel the videos will remain relaxing and basic - to focus on the picture and sounds of these places. More videos may be getting subtitles when I can use them several times. When the channel grows I'm sure I will pay someone to do these subtitles as my goal is to spend more time outside filming rather than working on the computer.

would u recommend a day trip in winter ? as i'll be in prague and its the nearest city
Yes, I'd recommend even in winter as Dresden is really close. As this walk shows you can see much in a few hours on a day trip. Depending how close to Christmas you are traveling there may even be the "Striezelmarkt" open - the Christmas market. I'd also suggest to take the train one time. The bus trip is cheaper yet the train has a nicer view of the Elbe river and area passing Usti Nad Labem and Bad Schandau.

I hope you enjoy it. The Striezelmarkt in Dresden is open November 27th till December 24th yet there are surely some stands around after for Glühwein and Bratwurst to warm up - also in Prague..

This video was recorded in January 2019. It was the 15th video I ever recorded. Today I did my 600th and by now I also write the recording month / year in the video description. Dresden looks a bit darker during the winter. I've made another Dresden video end of August that I'll upload shortly. The city with sunlight looks nice. In some past time maybe Dresden was the Florence of the Elbe (Elbflorenz), but today, unfortunately, no longer; now it's nice, but just a nice rebuilt modern scenery, and the modern area, is modern!!! nothing remarkable ....
