Huge Fan of FJ60s and 62s. I have a 1990 FJ62. Now I am a fan of Jack Carr! Thank you to this channel for actually asking going in depth with him and his Cruiser!
Thanks for the video Jack. This is one of the best Cruiser restorations I have seen. I like that you kept it semi stock and didn't go too far over the top with mods. Great Rig! Enjoy it.
It was just a car to me at first as Jack describes. I'm reading savage son for the 3rd time now and when Raife gives him the restored Land Cruiser it led me here. Amazing to see that this is the vehicle he's describing. I feel like a Land Cruiser fan now even though we don't even have them in the UK
The first thing I noticed when i watched the terminal list was the 60 series Landcruiser. While I claim that i am a 40 series bloke i thought how cool is that rig. I've since bought the first 3 Jack Carr books and i love them. Now all i need is to finish my fj come hj 45 ute and get a 60 series for a pigeon pair.
Nice hearing him explain what it is. For a real good detailed tour of this beast look for his interview with LLOD. Last Line of Defence channels. He also talks about other goodies that he put in his novels that he actually uses.
I have seen restorations on 60's where they use an 80 series frame / chassis with all of the suspension upgrades and fit the 60 body on it. Torfab in Everett, WA near Seattle has done these. I like the 60 but the suspension with the leaf front end is a little dated. They're super nice looking rigs though. I have an 80 series (40th Anniversary) that i hung onto even though my daughter launched it over a guard rail and off a 30 foot cliff and into a river. Because these rigs are built like tanks, I was able to winch it out of there and Torfab helped me get it all fixed and running again. Still got it. By the way Jack, thanks for your service. I too am a Navy veteran. I took the fitness test for the UDT Seals back when I was active duty enlisted. I passed, was the only one out of about 40 dudes that passed the test that day. I always wanted to see if I could get my score as I know that I maxed the score (I was a competitive swimmer when I was in High School) and wanted it for bragging rights. I did not enter BUDS training, they wanted me to either extend my enlistment or re-up. I was only in the Navy to help pay for my college which it did accomplish. My buddy Baker from Tucson joined the Navy (July 28th, 1977) the same day that I did and he successfully made it through as did his brother and became a SEAL Team One member. I used to train with him, he was on the same ship before he went to SEAL training. I always regretted not going for it but should have taken the test earlier in my enlistment. I don't regret my career choices though.
J stands for jeep which was what the original name for landcruiser was so it basically means Landcruiser, and the F is what type of engine is in it, which is usually between H and F, F meaning petrol engine and H meaning Diesel. And there's usually always a number after which signifies the series of landcruiser you are talking about, there's heaps of different landcruisers but between every type they usually come in Diesel and Petrol. So my dream car would be a HZJ79, now with what I just said you don't need the z after H you could easily just call it a HJ79, the 79 done up are the most beautiful landcruisers ever made 2017 models. But the best way to tell what landcruiser is just get the series number (79 and then say series after it) so go ahead right now and Google "79 series landcruisers"

Two true Classic jack and his Land Cruiser
Beautiful rig! Just started reading your first book and can't put it down. Thanks for your service!
Thank you X1000 for your service!!!
So freaking gorgeous! I wish you guys went for a drive, or at the very least let us hear a startup with some revs
That made my heart beat a little faster. I used to have a 1976 FJ55 with a Chevy V8 that could climb trees. I miss that beast...
This is a real machine be proud mate

A thing of beauty
Had this same truck in college in 93 in black
pure coverage of the machine and the whole area but I would've appreciated if you didn't add music in the background .. much love and thanks

Beautiful but took the heart and soul out of it going with a GM power plant
Cool Car and cool Man. Perfect Job. Have a fun 🤩
Bloody bloody cool.top class.
I would have swapped out that leaf suspension for springs and shocks, especially for the front
hello my friend what headlight did you put in the front of your truck
Those are the JW Speaker headlights. I have them on my 1989 FJ62 and it's one of the best upgrades I've ever done.

Sweet truck
You get this done at icon ?
Does anyone have a guesstimate of how much this restoration would cost?
In ICON’s video review of Joe Rogan’s FJ80 stage 3 restoration over 3000 hours were spent on it, so like $400k or more.
Im jealous. Onya,Jack.

This shit is amazing
What’s the deal with Americans not being able to get certain Land Cruisers? It’s not fair. I was stomping my feet when I typed that
None in the Stan had a domestic engine in them.
Aussies are badasses!!!!!!!!

Joe jitsukawa
So he gets a Toyota and swaps the engine? I thought the whole point of a Toyota is the engine.
افضل مواصفات 89 لاندكروزر أمريكا افضل من الخليجي
Sorry not sorry as a purist he took a million mile engine and out it something making it a Tahoe in a Toyota = no longer a Toyota
wet dream
Is a landcruiser kind of a toyota like a hilux....?😅
Why would you put a shitty Chevy Motor in a Landcruiser?
Commie. Get a Jeep. ;-)
