Its a home made one…. Its a 100mm by 100mm leftover piece from gate post, bought the caps from mitre10, they are compatible for the mentioned post size, and have filled the post with steel, ended up a 20 kg bar, handle is improvised again from a piece of steel and is held by 2 bolts. Cheers
Cylinder mowers are designed differently and operate differently comparing them to Rotary mowers/slashers. To achieve Best results with a lawn using a cylinder mower, i mow mine twice a week in growing season, other people go harder than that like every second day 😁🤘🏻 any other cylinder brand today on the market manufacturer would advise same regards mowing and these are NOT build for way longer grass. I recon in one of my videos i test my dc motor on a Qualcast Commodore conversion and i throw at it really long overgrown lawn and a full catcher of cuts which is overflowing back into the reel. All this was done just to test my 1000 w dc motor set up and would NOT be a day to day scenario. Cheers
Great review!! I am looking for a cylinder mower to mow midweek when it gets warmer rather then pull out my Protea which I will leave for the weekend cut. A couple of things if you could answer. Where did you buy the 20kg weight bar from? How many millimeters do you think it sinks the cut below 14mm? Lastly what is that cable coming out of the mower?
Thanks buddy! This Ozito has been modified to back lap and self propel. The 20kg bar i made it out a 100x100mm post leftover, and have filled it with steel, both caps came out of mitreten to match the 100mm post, handle have made it myself from piece of steel. At the time my lawn was post scalping so was overwatered to recover quick, meaningly soil was so soft that was sinking a bit the mower into it. So the weight was only pushing the mower closer to soil to get 14 mm cut(in my case was sinking a bit in mud) did NOT make it cut lower than its setting. To modify its HOC i have seen people swapping and reversing the roller “arms”(i havent tried this as yet), claiming they dropped 5 mm per HOC. Ozito is a great little unit for its price, but its a 200$ mower, was a entry point for me in the cylinder mowers. I got a facebook group running regards modifying petrol cylinders mowers to battery power. My running prototype is a Qualcast Commodore cylinder mower. Cheers
@@Iggs_1 Thanks for your effort in getting back to me. Those adjustments you mentioned are neat, I will go ahead and get one as it will come in very handy mowing midweek in summer when I don't have time to get the Protea out . Plus it will save on the fuel and a 14mm cut is about the sweet spot I am aiming for.
No worries! I still have my Ozito as back up. This is the group if ever wanted to see where converting petrol to battery is at: facebook.com/groups/570851708281585/?ref=share_group_link
@@Iggs_1 Thanks for sharing I will have a look. I noticed you upgraded your roller to a steel one. If I was to do the same would there be enough power to run it without the motor mod?
The steel roller weighs about 1.1 kg, doesn’t make it much harder job pushing it.(without the selfpropelled MOD). The back steel roller is same as front roller of your Reel Mower, doent have any function in movement. Lots of bunnings have this Ozito on display (in Australia to give it a push before buying it, to see how it feels.) There is a Ozito Cylinder Mower group on facebook where you can get in touch with a bigger chunk of info/users 🤟🏻
Manufacture advises adjustments between 14 to 38 mm. Due to being light, cylinder floats on top of grass NOT giving true setting cut. To help it cut at true setting weight is added on top on cylinder. Is this answering your question? Thanks
Hi there, i have no affiliation whats so ever with Ozito brand. If it helps check -google EINHELL, this is the original brand in Europe, german design i believe. Search google you might find other brands as well to compare. Goodluck
Thank you! no, couldnt see any dents on reel, was going down hill with 20kg weight, so added to torc! When i heard the blades twing(deep inside I was thinking, will be grinding/back-lapping in a minute, lucky i have a back-lapping switch installed 🤣🤣🤣), but no, ozito just was asking for more! Follow if enjoyed, more coming! Will do a test run on the Auto back lapping switch! Cheers
@@Iggs_1 Oh you reminded me of another question. Where did you get that 20kg weight from? I’ve been stalking this mower on the fb group but holding back as I would prefer to use the Ryobi batt that I already have.
@@baareeooo i made the weight, its a 100x100 mm left overs post fence 😅, bought some caps from shop, filled it with steel, pit a handle on and ended up 20kg 👍 Working in progress on making a prototype for ryobi as well self propelled, its just they dont sell them new anymore, only second hand is you can find one. Good luck!

Because this mower is very light, the weight helps the roller push into the spongy grass and do a lower, more accurate cut. I have the same mower, and it tends to “float” over thicker grass, and not cut low enough. I’ll be using the weight idea.
I've been thinking about getting one of these. You just made up my mind, thanks!
It's a fun Mower for what you pay. But if you can buy a vintage older Mower and convert to battery mate.
Funny you should say that because I saw a Scott Bonnar 45 converted to electric for $600 on Facebook market place today.
A 45...? Modified for 600? Sounds unreal 😅
Where is a good place to get the weights. I’ve never seen weights like that before.

That looks about as easy a lawn cut as possible. Barely shaving the top. Was hoping to see a long lawn to really test it.

its not self propelled! Its a battery operated push mower!
Mine it is modified to be self propelled 🙂 and is carrying 20kg on top, it's in one of the videos
